 in rp 10.5

 ctrl+rightarrow fast forwards

 and

 ctrl+left arrow

 rewinds.

Also, there is a jump command,

 ctrl+e

which allows you to jump to any time within the file.

Real Player question

2007-05-16 Thread Catherine Turner
Hi,

Is it possible to fast forward files in Real Player? With every real file
I've ever played, the previous clip and next clip options are always
unavailable. I assume these are to move forwards and backwards through the
file. Is that correct and is it normal that they are unavailable?

Catherine,

Yes one can fast forward and reverse through items in Real Player. The
clip or stream must be running. Holding down, I think it's
control+right arrow will fast forward and control+left arrow will
rewind. If it's not the control key then its' the alt.

The previous and next commands relate to clips or files not the
currently running file.

Re: Real Player Question

2005-12-28 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Jim,

Highlight a file of a type you DON'T want played by Realplayer. Click on
Files, and on Open With. Select the player you DO want to play files of that
type, AND be sure to check the checkbox that says always use this program
to open files of this type.

Since, I gather, Realplayer has already made itself your default player,
you'll have to do this, separately, for each files type currently played by
Realplayer that you want played by some other player. But that will probably
be easier than making some other player your default player, and, then,
trying to get Realplayer to play all and only the file types that only it
can play.

Good luck.

RE: Real Player question

2005-06-25 Thread Rick Alfaro
I am pasting below a message that someone kindly forwarded to me that should
help. It isn't too bad once you get used to the quirks in Real Player.
Hope it helps. Note that the message is based on RealOne which was the old
name for Real Player, but the steps still seem to be useable for the most
part.

Here are some old instructions that do offer some good points about burning
with Real Player. They were written for Real One Player and the menus are
slightly different as you can see by reference to where the Burn/Transfer
item is found.

If you're using Jaws, the tip about changing the keys for selecting is a
good one to remember.

Good luck.

Clifford

Hi all,

As promised, I have returned with instructions on burning CD's using
RealOnePlayer.

First, before you even open RealOnePlayer, there is a hot key conflict
which must be resolved between JAWS and RealOnePlayer. This hot key
conflict is in reference to two control plus keys; specifically, ctrl up
arrow and ctrl down arrow. Those of you us who use RealOnePlayer will
doubtless recognize these hot keys as the quick access keys for volume up
and volume down. The difficulty which arises from leaving these hot keys as
they are assigned is that they cause interference with the non contiguous
file selection process. In RealOnePlayer, when you wish to burn a disk from
files not part of a play list, the non contiguous file selection is the best
rule to apply rather than contiguous selection. This is because it is
possible to get feedback on whether or not a file has been selected for
burning while using the non contiguous selection method. To resolve this
hot key conflict between JAWS and RealOnePlayer, do this.

1. Open the default JFW key board manager.

2. Press R till you hear, RealOnePlayer.

3. Now, arrow down till you get to the hot keys mentioned above.

4. Now, to change tthe first hot key, press ctrl H.

5. At this point, press the new hot key you wish to have assigned to the
function.

6. Now, tab to and press Ok.

7. You will be asked if you wish to confirm whether you wish to make this
change. Yes is the default so press enter here.

8. Now, press alt S to save this change and then press alt F 4 to exit.

At this point, you are ready to begin your burning session. Let's deal
first with burning CD's from files you select which are not part of a
RealOnePlayer play list.

1. Open RealOnePlayer in the normal manner.

2. Press alt T for Tools.

3. Press B for burn CD.

4. At this point, you will notice that, for some reason, JAWS will tend to
lose focus from this window. Because of this, you will find that it is
necessary to use alt tab to get back to the main RealOnePlayer window and
then alt tab to get back to the media window.
 Do this.

5. Now, press enter on the media window in to which you just reentered.

6. Now, you will find yourself in a file window in to which you can select
files. Just tab to add files and press enter.

7. At this point, you will be placed in the my Library window which will
show you all the files stored in the my Library collection.
Assuming however, that you do not want to select files from this point, tab
to and press enter on browse.

8. Having done this, you can now browse in the normal manner to the folder
in to which you have stored the files you wish to be burned.

9. Here is where you will find the non contiguous file selection rule to be
the best choice for file selection. Select all files you wish burned.

10. Now, press enter on Open.

11. Now, you will find yourself in the CD burning window. This would be a
good time to put the blank disk in.

12. Wait about 30 seconds or so while RealOnePlayer detects the blank disk
and what kind it is. Then start tabbing threw the window.

13. You will notice that the first thing you will come to is the disk type
window. This is the point at which you determine the type of CD you wish to
burn. The audio choice will cause all files you have selected to burn on
to the disk in such a manner that they will play in any regular CD player.
The Mp3 choice will cause all files to be converted to MP3's, and so forth.
Make the choice you wish by arrowing to it.

14. Now, if you tab over, you will get to the options page. This is the
page at which you can control how a Cd is burned. You can have
RealOnePlayer insert a blank space of two seconds between tracks, cross fade
between tracks or leave no blank space at all. Make the choice you want
using the arrow keys.

15. Just tab threw the other controls making your selections as you wish
and then tab to and press Ok.

16. If you use a rewritable CD, erase CD will be within the burn window.
Otherwise, you may want to tab over to driver options. Press enter on it.

17. Now, From this point you can make your driver use what is called track
at once (known as Tao) burning or disk at Once (Dao burning) Disk at
Once, which is the default in RealOnePlayer burns the disk in a

order to burn the files to cd? I think I have to add songs to my library

I just hope it works well enough with Jaws to make this happen.

John, before you give up your subscription, you might want to consider
that as a rule of thumb, SP2 upgrades your security settings without
consulting you upon installation. Increased security is the primary
concern of this windows version. Whether you've changed security
settings
yourself or not, I would encourage you to open those settings in IE and
see if they're set according to your intentions. For instance, something
in settings was blocking me from playing Winamp files, with my screen
displaying exactly what you described seeing in your own case. A message
popped up telling me that in effect, Windows was protecting me for
myself.
Of course, it didn't say it in those words but the file was on my own
website. Conversely, Windows played the same file using Windows Media,
without so much as a gentle warning. I was also prevented from opening
email attachments after installing the program until I went in and
changed
that feature. So if you want to deal with as few security issues as
possible without the need to adjust settings, Windows Media would
probably
be your best bet. It is my experience that windows green lights it over
Real, Winamp, or anything else. I know that a lot of people in our group
are not happy with Real, but I really don't believe it's behind your
  problem here.

I wonder if your internet security settings are set to forbid the sort of
stream that you're trying to activate. I'm not sure how your firewall
works, but if mine has an issue with something it offers me the chance to
ignore its warning and go ahead with the action in question. I'm also
wondering if you have XP and have taken advantage of their latest

Ever since I've done that a warning pops up with certain internet audio

Re: real player question

2004-09-24 Thread Larry Naessens
John, before you give up your subscription, you might want to consider that
as a rule of thumb, SP2 upgrades your security settings without consulting
you upon installation. Increased security is the primary concern of this
windows version. Whether you've changed security settings yourself or not, I
would encourage you to open those settings in IE and see if they're set
according to your intentions. For instance, something in settings was
blocking me from playing Winamp files, with my screen displaying exactly
what you described seeing in your own case. A message popped up telling me
that in effect, Windows was protecting me for myself. Of course, it didn't
say it in those words but the file was on my own website. Conversely,
Windows played the same file using Windows Media, without so much as a
gentle warning. I was also prevented from opening email attachments after
installing the program until I went in and changed that feature. So if you
want to deal with as few security issues as possible without the need to
adjust settings, Windows Media would probably be your best bet. It is my
experience that windows green lights it over Real, Winamp, or anything else.
I know that a lot of people in our group are not happy with Real, but I
really don't believe it's behind your problem here.

believe this might be a firewall issue causing this, but has anyone seen
this? Any ideas on what might fix it? I'm sure it would happen with other
things as well but I don't use real player much, just when I absolutely
have to. If anyone's seen this, or can offer suggestions I'd appreciate
it, I'd like to get it working if I can't I'll have to cancel it, it's
costing me money. Thanks,

Re: real player question

2004-09-23 Thread Dave Hutchins
Hi,
I had an interesting thing happen while my computer was on, I was watching
tv when my computer said there was a connection that had come undone. I
checked everything, there was no disconnection so I tried the internet which
was fine and my e-mail with no problem, funny things like that happen, I
think sometimes computer just screw up like that. Dave Hutchins

I tried that, it's happening on 2 computers though, my laptop worked on
vacation, at home that doesn't work and my desktop computer are both doing
the same thing, nothing's changed on the laptop. I don't know, maybe it's
Comcast.

reinstall it it might work better. Dave Hutchins

Subject: real player question

Hi all, I'm having a problem with real player, I subscribed to a service
on www.nascar.com, and when I was on vacation, it worked perfect, on an
aol dial up connection, now I'm at home on my Comcast cable connection
and every time I try to load that content, it comes up and says warning
security and there's a close button there and the URL, that's it. I
believe this might be a firewall issue causing this, but has anyone seen
this? Any ideas on what might fix it? I'm sure it would happen with
other things as well but I don't use real player much, just when I
absolutely have to. If anyone's seen this, or can offer suggestions I'd
appreciate it, I'd like to get it working if I can't I'll have to cancel
it, it's costing me money. Thanks,
