Sonar App for Window-Eyes now Available

2011-08-30 Thread Steve Pattison
GW Micro have just released an app to make Sonar work better with
Window-Eyes. The app is available on AppCentral at

https://www.gwmicro.com/App_Central/Apps/App_Details/?scriptid=1346

I don't use Sonar myself as I'm not a musician but I hope this may help
some people who are musicians and use Window-Eyes. The details are below.
-Steve.

Sonar Enhance supports Sonar X1, running on a system with a screen
resolution for 1024x768 or (preferably) greater. Typically, you'll have
the most success when using the default screenset, accessed by pressing
the number 1 while in the track view. Registry settings to enable Sonar
accessibility settings are enabled automatically.

The following list of keys provide enhancements of functionality when
using Sonar X1: B - Announces the Browser window I - Announces the
Inspector window Insert-F8 - Displays a list of available control bar
icons. Control-Alt-M - Speaks Peak Meter value. Windows-Alt-M - Toggles
auto speak Peak Meter changes. Control-T - Displays a dialog containing
a list of all visible tracks. Control-Alt-C - Displays a dialog
containing a list of all visible audio clips. Control-Alt-Shift-C -
Displays a dialog containing a list of properties for the selected track.
Control-Alt-B - Switches to the media browser. Control-Alt-P - Switches
to the plugin browser. Control-Alt-S - Switches to the synth rack. The
Now Time is announced when movement keys such as Control-Page Up,
Control-Page Down, Tab, and Shift-Tab are used. Comma, Shift-Comma, and
Control-Shift-Comma all announce whether the current track is selected
or not.

Cubase VS Sonar, as well as voice tuning

2011-03-28 Thread Quinten Pendle
Hi all

Since other apps are talked about here, I thought I'd ask.
Is Cubase or Nuendo at all accessible with Jaws, or are there scripts
available that will let you work in 1 of these apps?
How does Cubase or Nuendo compare with Sonar?

Another important issue, is voice tuning.
The studio where I work, use Melodyne to do voice tuning, since it sounds
very natural, not as synthetic as some of the autotuners out there.
Also, with melodyne it's possible to tune small portions of music, even
parts of a single note.
I wonder if Melodyne can be accessed at all with Jaws, or is the lay-out too
graphical?
What good alternative is there to melodyne, if any, something that would
enable you to achieve almost the same success as with Melodyne?

Thanks for any help, it would be highly appreciated.

since it's on topic anyway, and subscribing to another hightrafic list is
not desirable for me or probably other people too.

Subject: Cubase VS Sonar, as well as voice tuning

It has been my experience, in the past, that the Midi Mag list is good for
answering such questions and is a list for c Musicians, not just a Midi
list, for whatever that is worth. Like I said to Tony, it was only a
suggestion.

We turned to our expert on such matters, Kelly Sapergia, and he has provided
us with an outstanding review of the product. So you see, asking us to
review something does pay off... *smile*.

In addition, we will hear more about the history of radio from Chrissie.

All this happens this week on Innovations, which first airs on Tuesday at
17UTC, that's 12pm US Eastern, 9am US Pacific, and 6pm in Central Europe,
only on The Global Voice
www.theglobalvoice.info
The show repeats throughout the week, and is made available on our program
gallery.
The show also airs on Radio For Life

On Wednesdays at 12pm US Eastern, and on Sundays at 7pm US Eastern.
We are also on Taping For The Blind

Finding copy of Cakewalk-Sonar 8.0 Downloadable that canbe registered with Cakewalk CompanyS

2009-12-19 Thread JardataMailServices
Hello List!

I recently went on Google to find a cheap copy of Cakewalk-Sonar 8.0 Producer
Edition and was able to find one from a well-known Software Company; however,
when I installed the program, with the supplied serial key being accepted, the
program asked me to register the product with the Cakewalk-Sonar Company by
getting a registration code via email from their site. I put the registration
info into their registration form, but the cakewalk company rejected the code
as not legitimate for the product I was trying to register. Meanwhile, I
actually purchased the 8.5 upgrade/update with the serial key supplied by the
internet company I purchased the product from. I didn't buy the product from
cakewalk-sonar, but they tell me I have thirty days to register the product.
Why should I have to register with them when I bought the product from someone
else. The company I purchased the product from looked just like them in their
offerings, along with many other products. I take it I only have to register
once, but my upgrade product is also linked to the rejected serial key. I paid
only about half their asking price for the product. I don't feel I should be
responsible for their product sales. I take it that all they want us to
register for is to provide us with free upgrades and info. That is fine and I
have purchased an upgrade from Dancing Dots, which should be registered with
them; this, however, does not help with the old full copy of cakewalk-sonar 8.0
producer edition. I want to use my legally purchased program without having to
hear their registration message each time I open the product.

What is my remedy for this situation. How can we tell what copy of a product
is legitimate or not? I may sue them if they try to cancel my duly and legally
purchased software because my number does not match one in their database; if I
had bought it from them, I guess I would have a number in their database.

Question:

What is the work-around for this. That program cost from $300 to $600 at their
full price; I got it for around $99, plus $15 for the upgrade to 8.3.

Solution:

If I can't get them to accept my serial key, I guess I may have to purchase or
find a full copy, with a registered serial key with them from sonewhere. If
any knows of a company that sells this product at a similar price as I got it
for, please let me know.

Anyone have a lot of experience with sonar?
Does it work best with jaws, windoweyes, or both?
Certainly interested in doing some multitracking with it. Any idea how much
it is, or where to get it?

Thanks,
Jed

Hello,

I'm a Sonar user. It works best with Jaws--there's a
software package called CakeTalking. Dancing Dots is the company
that distributes all kinds of music software for blind users. Their website is

www.dancingdots.com, and their phone number is 610 783-6692

Hope this helps.

Jed,

Chris is correct. Cake Talking is supposed to work great with Sonar.

I am a WE user and have had quite a bit of experience with the program.

I don't know the price of JAWS or Cake Talking, but you can get Sonar
from Musicians Friend for a good price.

Re: Sonar keyboard shortcuts

2009-02-07 Thread Samuel Wilkins
Hello Martin, Window-Eyes will work OK with Sonar, however there are some
parts where it won't speak, such as in the track inspector pain and the
event viewer. At the moment, the best thing would probably be to use the 40
minute demo of Jaws with the J Sonar scripts. At the moment, there haven't
been any scripts developed for Window-Eyes for Sonar, however I hope there
will be in the not too distant future.

Hi listers,

I just downloaded a couple of audio books, and unfortunately, the person
who converted these books didn't convert the files into a single file
for each cd, but left all the tracks converted as individual tracks. All
I want to do is to take these files, and place them in their proper
order, and making one mp3 file for each cd.

As of a few minutes ago, I took a look at the batch processing options
in Goldwave, but can find no one step way to select all these files, and
consolidate all these mp3 files into one file. Is there a way to do
this, or must I copy each file, one after the other, adding them to the
last mp3 file created in a manual fashion. Surely there has to be an
easier way to do this. If some one can instruct me in the best way to go
about what it is I am trying to do, I would really appreciate the help.

The reason I would like to accomplish this particular task, is to make
it easier to listen to these files on my Victor Stream, rather than the
Victor classic, because fast forwarding, and rewind are so much better
on the stream.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Larry

Sonar shortcut keys

2009-01-23 Thread Martin, Tim A., NMDOT
Hi listers,

I am getting ready to register Sonar Producer 7 and am wondering if
anyone is using the program or any of the Sonar versions with
WindowEyes?

Also I would appreciate shortcut keys if they are available in the
program.

I used CakeWalk ver 9 for a long time, but have needed to take the
upgrade plunge for some current things I'm going to be working on.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Tim Martin

Question regarding Sonar 7 and mp3

2008-05-09 Thread Quinten Pendle
Hi all

I'm demoing Sonar here, but have the following question:
When I import various file types e.g. wav, flac, and wma into Sonar, it
handles the files okay.
However, when I import any mp3 file, regardless of bit rate and so on, it
doesn't play the file, all it does, is to play a sort of static noise for
the duration of the file.
I've fiddled around with various settings in Sonar, but can't seem to know
which adjustments to make.

Any help and/or pointers will once again be highly appreciated.

All the best

 Subject: Making Sonar Accessible

Hello, I am trying to make Sonar accessible with Window Eyes, but the
 only thing
is to edit the registry. I have made a system restore point and I have
 got the key.
I go into the start menu, run and type in regedit. Then, I go to edit,
 new and key.
However, it asks for a key name and I can't put the key in. I type in the
 name and
press enter on the combo box that says value unknown or something and I
 type in the
value, but it doesn't work. I've tried using the readme file but I don't
 understand
it. Could someone please give me a step by step guide on how to set Sonar
 up for
accessibility? I am using windows XP home, Sonar Home Studio 6 and Window
Eyes 6.1. I sent this message two days ago, but got no response.
 Thanks.

Hi,
Oh my friend there actually exist a world outside the blind related
mailling list world. grin

If you really are interested in music at that level you might consult a
music store or a music teacher forvarious good reasons.

The only reason why I made some fun out of this is that the common name for
Sonar in the conciesness of the public still is CakeWalk.
It was absolutely not to make fun of Harry at all.

Hi,
Oh my friend there actually exist a world outside the blind related
mailling list world. grin

If you really are interested in music at that level you might consult a
music store or a music teacher forvarious good reasons.

The only reason why I made some fun out of this is that the common name for
Sonar in the conciesness of the public still is CakeWalk.
It was absolutely not to make fun of Harry at all.

JAWS Scripts for Cakewalk SONAR LE

2006-08-27 Thread Mark Faben
Hi Everyone,

Just I hope a quick question. Now of course I've heard of the CakeTalking
Scripts for use with JAWS and the more 'professional', and expensive
versions of CAkewalk Sonar, but as an amature (and some would say very
amature) musition, I'm really not wanting nor needing to spend hundreds of
pounds on the all-powerful version of Cakewalk. Even the Sonar LE which I
have has features beyond which I'll ever use. I've been using Sonar LE with
JAWS 7 for a while now, and whilst I can achieve most things, I think that
some of the features are unable to be accessed by JAWS with just the basic
default JAWS scripts. So does anyone know of any scripts that will work with
JAWS 7 under XP pro SP 2 with Sonar LE? Or does anyone have experiance of
configureing JAWS with Sonar LE?

Thanks.

Mark

Fwd: DANCING DOTS ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF CakeTalking 5.0 for SONAR 5

2006-06-17 Thread Steve Pattison

From: William R McCann [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Dancing Dots
June 17, 2006

Is your child, student or client creating music with a
keyboard and computer for school, for fun, for profit?
Are you yourself a creative blind musician looking for
a way to get your musical ideas out of your head so
you can listen to them and share them.? Then give
serious consideration to acquiring the SONAR audio
and MIDI sound production software together with
the latest CakeTalking access solution from Dancing
Dots.

~
CakeTalking makes Cakewalk SONAR talk. CakeTalking
customizes the JAWS for Windows screen reader so
blind users can access the SONAR software that so
many sighted people use to convert their PC's into
recording studios. And CakeTalking tops it all off
with extensive online help and a set of detailed
tutorials in the form of electronic documents of
hundreds of pages that instruct the JAWS user on all
the how to's. Using CakeTalking with JAWS, blind
musicians can focus their energy on creating, not
trouble-shooting!

Since its introduction at a packed presentation
during the CSUN conference in Los Angeles back in
the year 2000, CakeTalking has changed the lives of
all kinds of blind musicians from students to working
professionals.

What Can CakeTalking for SONAR 5 do for You?

Get you up and running quickly so that you can focus
on creating and not practicing to be a techie!

Record, mix and export your sound productions to
various audio formats such as mp3, wave or Windows
Media.

CakeTalking's tutorial documents include lots of
helpful information on configuring your digital audio
workstation (DAW). These and all of CakeTalking's
tutorial instructions are written first and foremost for
the JAWS user who wants to work as independently
and efficiently as possible.

Cakewalk SONAR 5 is packed with all kinds of audio
effects, such as the Pantheon Reverb, which you
can apply to your performances. CakeTalking gives
you access to the menus and controls that allow you
to customize and tweak these effects to give your
final mix your own personal sound.

CakeTalking maximizes the time you spend working on
your projects by providing hundreds of handy
keyboard commands to keep you creating instead of
trouble-shooting or typing your life away! A few
examples: dedicated keystrokes to move you to
individual tracks or columns, move back or ahead by
1 to 10 bars of music, add marker points and move to
specific markers very quickly.

Many SONAR users, blind and sighted, are discovering
the benefits of adding a hardware control surface to
their DAW. Control surfaces such as the TranzPort
feature controls you can touch similar to the stop,
record, rewind and fast forward buttons on your CD
player. TranzPort has many controls which you can
customize and even has an access scrub wheel to
make editing unwanted noises out of your audio
tracks a snap. Now CakeTalking can automatically
give verbal confirmation when you perform many
actions on your control surface such as muting or
soloing a track or scrubbing to a new Now Time.

and
select the CakeTalking link. You'll find links there to
pages that contain information about other hardware
accessories including a second, high-end soundcard
you'll use with SONAR. Contact Dancing Dots to

Loud Feedback When Using Direct Monitoring in Sonar

2006-04-21 Thread Kelly Sapergia
Hi,
My MIDI sequencer, Sonar, has a function called Direct Monitoring
that allows you to monitor what's going through the sound card. I have to
use this with some plugins, such as vocoders. However, when I use the
direct monitoring feature, I always hear things echoing back at me, and a
high-pitched squeal. The only way I can get rid of this behavior is by
either turning the panning controls on my mixer to the left, or by muting
the channels going to the sound card, then using my mixer's Prefader
buttons. Is there a way I can get rid of this annoying echo so I can use
these plugins? Also, if I were to get a better sound card, such as one of
the M-Audio models, would that help?
Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,
Kelly John Sapergia

Sonar 4 hardware requirements

2005-11-18 Thread Juan Hernandez
Hello Listers,

I have sonar 4, and I want to learn how to use the software. Now, I am not
sure my hardware is adiquit for this program.

I have a
p4 3.2 ghz with hyperthreading
1gb ram
400 gb of harddrive space
The sound device is: realtek ac'97 for via (r) audio controler

Now, can I not use sonar 4 with this setup? I can't get any of the midi
samples that come with sonar4 to play.

The midi output is set to microsoft midi mapper. But it doesn't let me keep
that selected.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would suggest that you upgrade your Cakewalk to either Sonar 4 Studio

accessibility with Window Eyes and JFW. You may want to get the Dancing

scripts, give me a call.

QBass vs. Sonar with JAWS

2005-08-31 Thread John Holcomb II
Its been a long time since I've been on this list. However I come to you
all with a question.

Has anyone used the softwhere package QBass for midi recording, and
multi-track audio from keyboard mmoduals etc?
I don't know if scripts exist for this package or what. I'm needing to
upgrade CakeWalk Pro-Audio 9 to something, and I wasn't sure if there
was any cheaper option then Sonar and the scripts.

Please if you have any ideas pass them along.
If there are other programs with scripts that may be available, what are
the pros and cons of each? Would said programs be intuitive to use, and
have similar functionality to Sonar?

Thanks,
John

Hope this helps.

Hi. Go to options by doing an alt+o key press, followed by p for projects.
Once there, go to the control tab and arrow right once to metrenome. Tab to
the box that says use midi note and uncheck it. then just press enter.
You'll have to do the same for all subsequent projects. Cheers!

Re: sonar?

2005-05-04 Thread Jerry Richer
Roger! Technically there are two versions of Sonar. Legally there are
four. There are Sonar Studio and Sonar Producer. Each of those versions
has two versions which are the regular and the academic. The only
differences between the Regular and the Academic versions are the price and
how it can be used legally. The Academic versions are less expensive but
legally they can't be used professionally. In order to qualify for the
Academic versions you must be a post secondary student, a teacher, a
non-profit agency, a church etc. Weather one is eligible for Academic
pricing is initially determined by me the dealer and finalized by Cakewalk.
This Academic pricing is common with software. There are Academic
versions of many if not most software.

Dancing Dots Releases CakeTalking for Cakewalk SONAR 3: NewPossibilities for Independent Audio Production by the Blind

2004-10-20 Thread Don Ball
Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA
October 20, 2004

Dancing Dots Releases CakeTalking for Cakewalk SONAR 3:
New Possibilities for Independent Audio Production by the Blind

Today Dancing Dots announces the official release of the latest version of
their access solution
for SONAR from Cakewalk Music Software which they call CakeTalking.
SONAR converts your PC into a multi-track, audio production studio.
CakeTalking has two components: a set of scripts that customizes how the
JAWS for Windows screen reader software responds to SONAR's highly graphical
environment and a set of detailed tutorial documents containing hundreds of
pages of tutorial instruction tailored to the needs of the blind user.

Bill McCann, founder and president of Dancing Dots, said: SONAR 3 and
JAWS 5 were released virtually simultaneously in late 2003. Since that time
we at Dancing Dots have been working with the manufacturers of
these two products to upgrade our CakeTalking for SONAR scripts to work with
them. We thank the people at Cakewalk Music Software and Freedom Scientific
for making the necessary and significant revisions to their own products to
make the release of CakeTalking 3.5 for SONAR 3 a reality. Most of all, we
appreciate the tireless efforts of CakeTalking's creator, David Pinto, for
making it happen.

For further information go to
www.Dancingdots.com/prodesc/CakeTalkingForSONAR.htm. For details of Dancing
Dots' upgrade policy for CakeTalking and SONAR, please visit
www.DancingDots.com/ctsonarup.htm.

Since 1992, Dancing Dots Braille Music Technology has been a pioneer in
software development and innovation for the blind musician. In 1997 Dancing
Dots released its first product, the GOODFEEL Braille Music Translator.
Meantime, the company has expanded its focus to enabling blind musicians to
independently record, edit and print out their musical ideas by means of
specially adapted mainstream software like SONAR and Sibelius. The company
is an authorized distributor for a wide range of assistive technology and
music products with blind and sighted customers throughout the U.S. and 26
other countries. Please visit www.DancingDots.com for further details.

Winner of the 2000 Access Award of the American Foundation for the Blind and
