Re: [pca] kernel patch for LDom control domain

2010-02-19 Thread Martin Paul

Hi,

1. Will pca pickup all the patches needed to support kernel patch 141444? (I
think I'm asking if I can trust the dependence list for 141444.)

Yes, that should be no problem.

2. Is it a bad idea to pick just a kernel patch out of the set of missingrs?
(The missingrs set includes 111 patches.)

There's no definitive answer to that. The less patches you install, the
smaller is the chance that
anything might break. On the other hand, there's more testing done by
Sun on systems with all
patches installed. As you use Live Upgrade, installing more patches
won't cause a longer downtime.

3. Any general advice for patching a running production primary/control domain.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with LDOMs.

Martin.

I think installing all of missingr and or missingrs is the way to go, as
this is what is most tested by Sun and end users.

If you only do the kernel patch then you may be missing other important
fixes that may or may not impact the kernel patch, There's really no way
to know.
