Re: [PD] PLEASE HELP ME (CLICKS AND POPS FROM KNOBS)

2013-09-22 Thread Alexandros Drymonitis
The frequency inlets of [lop~] and [hip~] don't take signals, that's why
you get clicks. You have to implement the filters yourself using [rpole~],
[rzero~], [cpole~] and [czero~]. You can read the theory here
http://msp.ucsd.edu/techniques/latest/book-html/node139.html

Or you can go to Pd's forum and check some post from Maelstorm
(administrator). His posting signature is his library of abstractions that
include all kinds of filters driven by signals too.

[PD] PLEASE HELP ME (CLICKS AND POPS FROM KNOBS)

2013-09-21 Thread Luca Mani
Hello is there a way to avoid clicks and pops coming out when moving the
frequency/bandwith knobs  of the lowpass and hipass filters of the pd library?
line~ and sig~ lop are not working because the knobs are not controlling an
audio signal.

Thanks in advance

hi,

i've successfully tested an ESI Gigaport HD+ on the Pi
without clicks with ethernet disable
this interface doesn't have inputs this is why (i think) it could work with
USB 1.1

from its user manual specifications, part 5, page 11 :
1. Interface
- USB spec version 1.1
- USB audio class spec version 1.0
- fully compatible to USB 2.0 host controllers

but this should be tested more longer on the PI

I don't think this is presently possible - I think all 8-channel conforming
USB audio devices require USB 2.0 and the only way to get solid audio in or
out of the Pi (as far as I've been able to get working) depends on slowing
the USB to 1.1 speed.  This is certainly just a software thing and I hope it
will eventually get fixed.

OTOH I've been getting good robust stereo in and out using Griffin iMic (and
there seem to be plenty of other even cheaper choices).

Raspberry usb is not great, and some audio devices work while others do not,
there is apparently an 8-channel output device that works ... search this list
for details ... it seems you are most likely to have luck with basic consumer
level devices. I had good results with a simple, very cheap stereo output card,
but that is a much simpler setup than what you are asking for.

Features used:

Raspberry PI: Model B
Audio usb sound card : Tascam us 1800 http://tascam.com/product/us-1800/

of course also the audio card needs to have linux drivers ... mostly this means
that the device needs to use standard usb audio drivers not its own special
driver, and looking at the tascam specs it seems to need its own drivers
installed to work in windows and OSX, which is not a good sign.

i haven't followed the thread, but:

either get OSCx (sourceforge-CVS: /externals/OSCx) or mrpeach's
collection of OSC and net externals (you need both!; sourceforge-CVS:
/externals/mrpeach/net and /externals/mrpeach/osc)

then compile them (read the docs that come with the sources)

add their paths to your startup script or put the binaries into
/pd/extra

use!

this should be fairly trivial.
i recommend using mrpeach's externals as they are better maintained and
OSCx has some nasty bugs...

Are those externals in the distribution? If so, did you try using the
full path name to the external? something like
[/OSCroute]? This has also worked for me...

that's what the thing above does, sending one bang x seconds after the _LAST_
bang
and if you maybe mean EXACTLY ONLY ONE BANG EXACTLY ONLY ONCE add something
like this after the delay:

|
[t b b]
|/
[0] /
\ /
 \/
 /\
/ \
[spigot 1]
|
[bng]

a bang.

Sven's patch does exactly that! The first bang represents your
"irregular" input, triggered by whatever. The reason this works is
because every input to delay resets delay's timer, so if you send 3
bangs quickly, it will send out one bang 1000 ms (or whatever) after
the *last* of the 3.

thanks for the reply, but i guess i didn't describe my problem correctly:

so: if it doesn't receive a bang for more than x seconds it will send
a bang.

hope this becomes clearer now.
