this doesn't mean that a given library (like pidip) works on all

likely get you a faster answer too.

Just copy the 'pidip' folder in extra/ from 0.42.5 and put it in your

Re: [PD] pidip for pd-extended 0.43.4 Ubuntu 12.04

2013-02-15 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

Just copy it out of Pd-extended 0.42.5. You can extract a .deb package like
this:

dpkg -x Pd-extended-0.42.5.deb /tmp/pd-extended-0.42.5

Then you'll find pidip in
/tmp/pd-extended-0.42.5/usr/lib/pd-extended/extra/pidip. Copy that folder to
~/pd-externals or /usr/local/lib/pd-externals

pix_frei0r (same deal)
glsl effects (i never did quite figure out an easy way to chain effects)

There is one help patch that I tested and it worked (albeit tracking was
a bit slow, which may be because my laptop is fairly low-end
notebook/netbook). It is fairly straightforward, though. Documentation
both for pdp and pidip could use an overhaul, though.

If you are using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, I can send you binaries until I
clean things up. The versions I built are pdp 0.12.7 and pidip 0.12.30.
AFAICT all externals built successfully.

That's a thought :-). FWIW, mu should work out-of-box with
netsend/receive but the texture sharing voodoo is not implemented yet...

Re: [PD] pidip

Just be aware that pidip is not free software because it has clauses in its
license that restrict what it can be used for. Including pidip in your
package means your package can no longer be legally distributed as binaries
since the pidip license terms conflict with the GPL license terms.

There is one help patch that I tested and it worked (albeit tracking was a bit
slow, which may be because my laptop is fairly low-end notebook/netbook). It is
fairly straightforward, though. Documentation both for pdp and pidip could use
an overhaul, though.

Currently, as I said I used the built version of pdp and it loads,
when I compiled pdp_0.12-6 it gave a linking error with gsl Please let me
know when you complete these, I would love to try them out.
If you are using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, I can send you binaries until I clean
things up. The versions I built are pdp 0.12.7 and pidip 0.12.30.
AFAICT all externals built successfully.

Also when are you going to include mu for pd :-)

That's a thought :-). FWIW, mu should work out-of-box with netsend/receive but
the texture sharing voodoo is not implemented yet...

 Cheers

Re: [PD] pidip

2013-02-06 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

I'm not aware of that. Perhaps you're thinking about how pidip should all be
GPL, since it is based on GPL code. The GPL does not allow more license
restrictions, and the pidip license does just that. So that means that the
GPL code included in pidip is still GPL, but the code that sevy contributed is
under his license, and those two licenses conflict. So basically, pidip is not
legal to distribute in binary form because of the conflicting licenses within
itself.

Whether you choose to ignore copyright law is your decision. I am personally
fine with people distributing pidip as its own thing and using it with any of
my code as long as:

1) the pidip distro is clearly marked as non-free
2) pidip is not bundled with my GPLed code (i.e. as part of pd-extended,
pd-l2ork, etc.)

I used the pdp-0.12-6 sources and the pd43 sources to build pidip from CVS
Then I created paths for pidip/modules, pidip/patches and pidip/morphology
Then created a startup -lib/home//pidip/pidip
And it mostly all works
Only thing I could not get working was pdp_freenect

Everything else seems to play nice.
I will check the pdp_opencv stuff today

 pdp_v4l2: unsupported color model: 1497715271

also pdp_v4l2: unsupported color model: 1195724874

You could try starting pd like this :

 LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so pd

This will put the convert library of libv4l between pd and v4l, and it will
convert colormodels (and mjpeg for example) into a format that should be
 supported.

Let me know if it works :)

Re: [PD] pidip error color mode

2010-12-29 Thread Jose Luis Santorcuato
Hi, thanks, I solved the web camera connection, but has a considerable
latency, the features are: ubuntu lucid 10.04, pentium 4 at 2.66 and 2
gb ram, NVIDIA GeForce 6200, goes slow, very slow, the system takes 5
minutes to start, and the latency of the camera is obvious, what
camera you recommend?, the previous problem was that the camera was
not supported. I can speed up the fps? ...

Re: [PD] pidip camera settings high fps

2010-12-29 Thread Jose Luis Santorcuato
Hello list, everything works, now I wondered if it was possible to
change the size of the catch, I have a camera that captures from 640
to 1024, but low fps, I would like to capture at 30 fps and 640, if
the capture is small I can run at 30 fps, you can adjust the
dimensions? with pdp_scale suffice?

Re: [PD] pidip pdp_capture not working

2010-09-24 Thread ydego...@free.fr

ola,

pdp_capture was too slow,
it is now abandonned,
you can use webcamstudio to capture your screen
and send it to video loopback device ( usually /dev/video1 )
that you can read it with pdp_v4l,
that's the replacement..

dobry den,

what are u talking about?
which system are you using ?

a/ if you do autoreconf, your aclocal.mp4 will be replaced,
so there's no need as you say to use automake 1.4

b/ there's no reference at all to GTK in configure.ac.
why pidip would use GTK ??

i wonder why you got to that conclusions,
and although there might be some warnings
with .mp4 files,
the compilation works on lucid.

We must use automake 1.4, see in header of aclocal.m4

But when i do autoreconf, i have aclocal: configure.ac: 0: macro
`AM_PATH_GTK' not found in library message.

pidip use gtk 1 exclusively?

Re: [PD] pidip compilation problem

2009-03-18 Thread marc widmer

hi list yves

i tested my old patches and everything looks ok, beside a warning in the
shell, that base64 is missing, is this important?

so far everything worked.

i changed c_track in the source, so that it checks not one point, but a
matrix of points. at the moment all these points
are with fixed offset between each other. from pd i just set the start
coordinates. furthermore i do check not the color
of one pixel, but of all surrounding points (9 in total) and calculate
the average. i do this to avoid tracking flickering pixel
noises which sometimes occur when i grap video from my surveillance
color cams.

at the moment this is rather a hack of your source then a proper
enhancement, but maybe, if you think this could be usefull,
a module lik c_track_matrix could be a goal. where one can send a list
with coordinates to track and the area space

surrounding that point.

i haven't checked the development of pidip since a while, maybe now
there is already a better way to do this.

you need tcllib then,
it is used in pdp_colorgrid to load
a base64 encoded background image.
of course, if you don't use pdp_colorgrid,
no need for it.

well, if you can send the modified version

i could integrate it one day..

there's not so much development going on in pidip,
and even less in pdp.
it's almost the same version than in 2004.

Re: [PD] pidip compilation problem

2009-03-17 Thread marc widmer

hi

my configure command looks like this:

./configure --with-pd=/usr/lib/pd
--with-pdp=/home/metafor/Desktop/puredata-externals/externals/pdp/
--with-ffmpeg=/home/metafor/Desktop/puredata-externals/ffmpeg/

i added this option
--disable-capture

but with no success, old pidip fails at the same point. (actually the
disable option is not available in this version)

my image-magick version is obviously later:
imagemagick_6.3.7.9.dfsg1-2ubuntu1_i386.deb

i checked, the new pidip from svn has --disable-option
with autoconf i genereated a new configure and after this i could
compile further but, now im stucked

with pdp_live~

i have installed latest ffmpeg from source, but now i am stucked with
this (see below)

it does not mention anything missing, so i do not know where to search.
btw. can i easily port my changed pdp_ctrack (v 0.1) to the newest pidip
install (haven't done it yet)? i guess my pidip at the time was .18 or
.19, in .23 pdp_ctrack still has version number 0.1 which makes me
confident.

if you could help me out, i would be reallly happy.

hi IOhannes

thanks for your inputs...

yes, pdp is installed an running (PDP: pure data packet version
0.12.5-darcs)
ffmpeg is from cvs, but not from sourceforge, apparently ffmpeg moved to
ffmpeg.org

i downloaded it via svn from here:

svn checkout svn://svn.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg/trunk ffmpeg

compilation went fine. but beside the note that you should compile
ffmpeg from cvs,
which is not available anymore (guess svn should be the right
replacement), there

is no special version mentioned.

if you have any other suggestions, i would be really happy, as for now,
i do not

really know where's the problem.

this most likely won't work.
ffmpeg is changing rapidly (usually more rapidly than the application
that rely on it) - so you will have to get a version that is known to
work with PiDiP.
in the notes it mentions ffmpeg = 0.4.9, so you should probably get
0.4.9, and not the head of ffmpeg's repository.

until you get it, i suggest trying to compile pidip without ffmpeg support.

the old pidip will not compile, guess it's what yves mentioned, my

after a year of not touching the library (never change running system)

recompile pidip. first i tried to use my old pidip sources, after
running into troubles with (quicktime and lqt) which i could solve.
compilation stopped when pdp_capture should be compiled:

‘pdp_packet_pass_if_valid’ from incompatible pointer type

make[1]: *** [pdp_capture.o] Error 1

after this i tried to compile from svn, again i had to outcomment
libquicktime issues (though there was already a condition included in
the modules source, whicht was somehow ignored)

add the end again i ended up with problems compiling pdp_capture
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `...@pdp_capture_object@', needed by
`all_modules'. Stop.

`/home/metafor/Desktop/puredata-externals/externals/pidip/modules'

make: *** [pdp_pidip_all] Error 2

i guess because old and new pidip are not compiling i miss something
with a library (is it this libquicktiem problem?), but as configure
went fine, i am not sure which one is missing/or wrong version, has
anybody run into these troubles as well? what am i doing wrong?

well, any help is apreciated.

here i think you don't have a real recent pidip,
try with :

now quicktime includes are in include/lqt
and the latest pidip should recognize it,
or if it doesn't, report a bug.

Well, after installing libgsl0-dev , after launching configure, i had to
edit the include/pidip_config.h file and uncomment and define its third

Re: [PD] Pidip streaming patch

2007-07-12 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

Hey Yves,

Do you think it would be possible to make an object that has the same
name on both platforms, but one is based on pdp_ieee1394 and the
other on pdp_v4l? That would make for cross-platform pidip patches,
which would be quite nice.

copied your pidip.pd_linux over to my vanilla pd and it works now. Tight.

Re: [PD] pidip and ffmpeg compilation

2006-12-18 Thread Yves Degoyon

yeh, hans,
but i guess pidip is compiled _without_ ffmpeg
which has been a hell to follow anyway
with so many unstable releases, buggy, crashing ...
so i gave up ...

if you really want experimental support of ffmepg in pidip,
that's with --with-ffmpeg=/path/to/ffmpeg

but i haven't tried this for years ( am i so old ? )

well, suerte a los jovenes,
good instructions anyway ..

dear list

i've downloaded the svn version of ffmpeg and configured it
with: ./configure --enable-mp3lame --enable-libogg --enable-vorbis
--enable-gpl

i tried also manipulating the Makefile and added the variables:

/usr/local/src/pd/ffmpeg/libavutil/libavutil.a in PDP_PIDIP_LIBS
and -I/usr/loacal/src/pd/ffmpeg/libavutil in PDP_PIDIP_INCLUDES

but i got allways after a:

./configure --with-pd=../../ --with-pdp=../pdp/
--with-ffmpeg=../../../ffmpeg-svn/

make clean
make ( and make CC=gcc-3.4 )

many, many.
