I've let it 'dry' overnight and will clean up and reassemble tomorrow. Actually, the foam strip seems to have survived my ministrations, in spite of inept intentions, and if it's still a little bouncy when daylight comes, I'll just reassemble the back on it! Ya know, I need a set of magnifying lenses that fit on my regular glasses. I think jewelers have them... Anyhow, mystery solved. I got some foam from this fellow on eekbay http://myworld.ebay.com.au/interslice/ The little bamboo tool is good for cleaning out the old gunk, with a little alcohol help (naturally). The new foam just packs into the grooves, or has a self-adhesive backing for the door areas. G'day All. Well the season is now over the winner has been crowned. I got up at 5:15 am - took point and shoot camera just in case... got to my polling place about 6:10 am and was pleased to see that I had to spend an hour in line then came home and went back to bed. Thank goodness we still have the old lever type of polling booth here...everyone knew how they worked. And you all know who I voted forat least all of you who know me :-) OUtside the polling spot there was a video truck and a gaggle of news types trying to get their sophisticated gear to work... struggling with endless cables and wires next to an enormous pile of black garbage bags. Mine are 7x, plastic, come with a case. I am not a handyman at all, but I could replace the light seals and the foam in the mirror chamber of my two MX bodies with no problems whatsoever. A kit is enough to change the light seals in at least 4 or 5 bodies, in my experience. I had visions of men toiling in conditions that made Hell look comfortable. Men with bulging biceps carrying huge ladles of molten steel, or guiding giant overhead cauldrons of super-heated material. There was something heroic about what I could see from peering into such places from the safety of the street. The workers were dwarfed by the huge menacing equipment around them. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to work in there. Even more than your other images, this photo brings those childhood feelings and emotions back. Looking into the mill it's as if I'm looking into Hades itself.
