Re: PESO - pals

2012-06-22 Thread Paul Stenquist
Thanks Jack.

The K5 was developing that mirror/shutter problem, where it just clicks and
won't function. It only happened a few times. I believe the battery was fully
charged two of those times, and it was very hot the other time. I also noticed
the shutter got louder on occasion. So I thought it was time to get it fixed. I
think it has more than 30,000 frames, and I have a three day, all-day shoot
coming up in August in what will probably be very hot weather. Both of my 540s
were having problems with battery contact, even after cleaning, and one had an
inoperative zoom, so I sent them both in. They have had a lot of use as well.

You could always just go to the Google Play store and browse apps (both free

Your first installed app should be Angry Birds. Trust me, it's a rite of

She'd have found that she can get useful fill light for backlit
situations. Nice catchlights? No.

Not unless you consider tiny pinpoints of light like somebody was
inspecting the subject with a penlight to be nice.

To get good catchlights you need a large light source relative to the
distance from the eyes.

I agree, but its dam hard not to get a bit of that big thick fence

Let me weigh in on the original Windows Tablet as I bought one and still
use it almost every day. It was functional and the handwriting worked as
well or better than the Pilot but you could use natural letter structure
unlike the Palms.

I would say the drawback was the 2 hr battery and the weight. Cradled in
your arm while walking around was murder after about 30 min. My version
was from HP and was a decent conventional small expensive laptop when
not folded into tablet form. I use it daily to do the crossword puzzle
of the day.

That said, otherwise I am a total Mac house now including a new Ipad.

This is a sculpture located in downtown Omaha. I wonder if the artist
considers the graffiti as a defacement or if it was expected as part

I selected this photo for the printing project because of the two

I did some poking around, it looks like it's 15 or 20 MB/s, or about the same
as a SanDisk Extreme Class 6 by their calculations

The SanDisk Extreme 45 MB/s 32 GB card seems to go for just about $37 with
shipping from about five sources on Amazon. It'll be $32 with $5 shipping, $37
with free shipping and a few combinations in between.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004Q3C98S/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

And it turns out that the SanDisk Extreme 16GB 45MB/s goes for $19 with
shipping, or $38 for 32GB.

That comment puzzled me, so I did some reading. FWIW, Wikipedia's
page on Tablet PC had this statement,
'According to a 2001 Microsoft definition[5] of the term, "Microsoft
Tablet PCs" are pen-based, fully functional x86 PCs with handwriting
and voice recognition functionality.' So how can you say there were
'no apps' for it, when it could run any Windows software that its
hardware resources could support? Obviously Photoshop would have been
too big an ask for one of these computing lightweights, but Windows
compatible software with a small footprint has always been there for
anyone lacking a big-brand fixation. For example IrfanView has been
around since 1996, and has such a tiny footprint that even my old
400MHz Win98 box hardly knew when it was running Over the years I've
used plenty of tiny apps, and probably half of those were pre 2001
when I was finding my way around a PC for the first time.

My understanding is that Tablet PC never took off because stylus input
was unpopular. Apple did away with the stylus, expanded on the
flexibility of gesture controls, and scored a hit with an otherwise
similar form factor.

regards, Anthony
