Re: Warning - cat content
Not surprised. Apparently there are so many extra cats in the area that the city pound issued a notice, a year or so ago, stating they would except no more cats. There are a number of toms that constantly harass our neutered female, so I called to learn if that were still the case. The answer (NO!!) sounded so definite that I'll not be asking them again. ;-0 I suspect the local mice aren't pleased either. Neither is showing in a commercial gallery. From the U.S. Copyright office: A public performance or display of a work does not of itself constitute publication. You can safely register an image as unpublished even if there is someone who is in possession of a print purchased in the 60s. There is even some question of whether showing an image on your own web site constitutes publication, though I don't think it's been tested in court yet. The ASMP people have told me that the Copyright Office seems open to removing the distinction between published and unpublished images entirely, but again this requires an act by congress so don't hold your breath. Re: PESO - It's a Sin to Kill a Mockingbird
Much prefer this version. Slightly lighter in content and seems cleaner and sharper. I missed PUG. Nothing was coming to mind then Friday night my mystery bird was identified as a mockingbird and today it hit me. I did up another look at the same bird for PUG but alas, too late. So here it is: http://knarfdummyblog.blogspot.ca/2013/05/its-sin-to-kill-mockingbird.html?m=1 Maybe not quite as sharp as the first one but I like that it's singing. Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome. Never completely pleased, I wish the black feathers had picked up a bit more shine in their reflections. I took three quick frames (AF-C). This was the first with the second and third progressively less detailed. The tiny bit of catch-light in the eye was my good fortune. Comments? RE: PESO -- Abandoned
Kind of sad. Whenever I see an abandoned building I wonder about its (former) inhabitants what they did in the building, how many different functions it may have performed in its career. I like this shot for the subject matter but also for the composition and rendering. It's just got this feel to it... Cheers, frank --- Original Message --- From: P.J. I could not afford the heat or taxes. The Smeltzer mansion was owned by the sole heir of one of the city's founding fathers and the owner of the 1st gypsum mine in the area. All of her money was left to a trust to maintain the house. It is used for small gatherings. My niece was was the 1st to have her wedding reception in the home. By the way Ann Smeltzer loved the bluebells and the caretakers let them go wild will not mow them while in bloom. ___ So it is in defiance of winter that I post these Spring photos taken in the days before the storm. I used several lenses and a couple of cameras here. One or two of the daffy pix may have been taken with my OLY - purists may avert their eyes. Join me in my efforts to start Spring.
