I just went back to the original post and it worked in chrome running on
OSX. I suspect that the chrome URL parser is clever enough to figure
out that folks sometimes fumblefinger the slashes right after http: and
autocorrects it.

Thanks, Larry & Ann!
If it wasn't noticed, I muffed the URL

Glad I related my age to PDML members recently so you won't

I've posted so few images in recent
times that I have to re learn the wonky Photo.net system all over again each
time.

Haven't had a chance to investigate yet, but do any of the trail cams have
floating ISO so that one only sets the aperture & shutter speed? Am thinking
that not using a flash might have certain value.

Re: Focus Stacking

2017-09-13 Thread Jostein

Well, to clarify,
I sometimes combine it with focus bracketing. In night shots it can be
combined with using the AstroTrace for getting nice skies. Then you can
shoot the foreground with as long exposure as you'd like.

In general I find the technique most convenient for landscapes with a
focus foreground, next to no middle-ground and detailed background.

I use focus stack with landscape work on occasion. Typically just 3 exposures

Last year I experimented a bit and compared tests with scenes shot at a more
open aperture and stacked vs scenes shot with the lens stopped down. More often
than not I preferred the single exposure that was stopped down, though in some
cases the stacking worked out better. One of the few examples where this worked
for me:

Give it a try - its interesting and as good a reason to go out shooting as any
other.

Thanks Ann. of course it was completely planned. I saw the 3 women
walking along the street, thought "I've got 12 seconds on the
self-take timer so if I press the button at the right time they'll be
in the shot". If you believe that, you'll believe anything...

..the "Gherkin" in the background was intentional though.
