Larry lives about 25 miles south of me, in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I'm in Santa Clara, at the base of the SF Bay Peninsula, just over the border from the city of San Jose. Chico and Paradise are roughly 200 miles north of me, up and past the Sacramento River Valley. The smoke from these fires has been chokingly thick at times here in the South Bay neighborhood nonetheless for the past two days. Pesos Grenadier and other frippery
A friend gave me some pomegranates which I've always thought are very visually interesting, the problem is how to pose them. I got a bit silly and used a yard ornament/fountain to hold the fruit and then set them both on a CD rack. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/30878956957/in/album-72157697575798400/ Google maps says that Paradise is about 250 miles north of here. Cat's are pretty much hell on small animals. Not all cats, especially as long as they are well fed, but in general I wouldn't trust a cat with an animal less than half it's size. Re: iPESO: Doorbell View
This could be the start of a whole new photo category. :-) I installed a Nest Hello doorbell button a few weeks ago, but the shots from it are just of our boring front walk. It's pretty cool though; I haven't tried this feature yet but it's supposed to be able to recognize familiar faces and distinguish between friends/family and strangers. I mainly wanted to know when packages are delivered and to be sure that they aren't stolen. On Sat, Nov 10, 2018 at 9:36 AM Daniel J. That still takes me to a page with "BRUCE WALKER" in very large print. Under that is the thumbnail, and under that "2 0f 300." Double clicking leads me to a large page of nudes, and the one that was in the thumbnail is indeed the second image (I assume there are 300 on the page). iPESO: Doorbell View
My son gave us a video surveillance system called Ring. It includes a doorbell for both the front and back doors, plus a motion detector floodlight for the back yard. It sends a message to our iPhones and Apple watches whenever there is motion in the protected zones. One can view a live image of the activity from anyplace where there is wifi or cell service. We were at a meeting in Princeton, about 16 miles south of our home, when we received messages that someone was at our front door. I left the meeting, went into the hallway, where I saw that the yard maintenance crew was ringing our front doorbell. Later I saw that one of our next-door neighbors was also ringing the bell. I called her on my cell phone, and learned that the lawn maintenance crew had broken one of our irrigation lines, and water was pouring out all over the yard. I was able to describe to her husband where and how to turn off the water supply to the irrigation system, solving the problem. This is a very useful device, which I highly recommend. In any event, the wind the other day caused the from door system to activate, giving a nice image of our front yard with fall foliage. I took a screen shot to get the image onto my iPhone, so I could download it to my computer and upload it to Squarespace: http://dan-matyola.squarespace.com/dans-pesos/2018/11/10/doorbell-view Obviously, there was no skill or art on my part, but comments are still invited. Bruce N. will have to correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect that: the white patch is snow The light-green foliage is a fern, most likely a polypodium species. Which one depends on where the image is taken. The foreground is a moss, the brown part its roots. I can't make qualified guesses about species. Jostein Den 06.11.2018 00:23, skrev Daniel J.
