But yes, this flowers are lovely.  The photos are nicer, unfortunately my phone 
doesn't do them justice, the yellows seem to be clipping on my display and 
details are lost.

GESO: Fathers' Day Cactus

Every year at Fathers' Day, my prickly pear cactus burst into bloom, with
lovely yellow flowers.  Fortunately, this year is no exception.

The prickly pears are a nuisance most of the year, with thorns that are
almost impossible impossible to dislodge once they get under one's skin.
They have two great features:  The prolific blooms in June and the fact
that they are one of the few flowering plants that deer will not eat or
trample.

Southeastern U.S., although they have been spotted as far west as Oregon.

Thanks, Darren. It took me quite a while to see the possibilities in that photo.
 I came across it in the archive recently while looking for something else and
wondered what it might look like if I gave it the Silver Efex treatment :-)

I agree - Ken's image is special.
