GESO (5): Palakkad

2023-02-19 Thread Subash Jeyan
In june last, i applied for working from home (with a reduction in pay) and
shifted to Palakkad in the southern state of Kerala and about 550 km from
Chennai/Madras since anyway i was due for retirement this december (60
being the retirement age in India). personally, i am glad i made the
switch, I should have made it earlier, but unfortunately it needed a
pandemic for people to realise that some jobs, especially desk jobs like
editing and news print production, can be perfectly carried on at home
provided you had a good internet connection...

to cut the rambling short, here is a GESO taken during my daily walks in
Palakkad (on different days in the past one week). the first four are with
the canon g3x and the last one with pentax k5iis/pentax 18-250mm:

Pixel Shift on the X-T5

2023-02-19 Thread Bill
The Pixel Shift mode on the Fuji gives two options. One is for super
sized resolution and creates a 1 x 15500 pixel file, the other
method of combining images is much the same as Pentax Pixel shift, and
gives a regular 40mp output but with full colour information on each pixel.
I haven't checked to se what happens if both focus stacking and pixel
shift are both turned on yet. If they will work in conjunction it will
be a massive job to separate things out as everything gets dumped into
the same location n the card and even a modest 20 image focus stack
would end up being 400 image files to sort out.

I'm betting they won't combine.

More to come later.

PESO: Whaler Tail

My son Greg and I went on a shale watch this afternoon with the Pacific
Whale
foundation, out ot Maalaea harbor. We saw more whales than on any other
trip in the past 20 years. There was a bit of wind, and the sea was rather
rough, and that, combined with my failing eyesight and reflexes limited the
number and quality of images I was able to obtain. This is one of my
favorites from today's ourting:
