@Ann: Not sure if the two, Redbubble or Cafepress, are connected in some way or not. Years ago I did use Cafepress in the early days but I went with Redbubble recently. I don't really have much right now that would work with Spoonflower. I agree about not living off the profits but it does provide some random infusion of coffee / snack? monies but hey who knows we both may become extremely popular... @Daniel: Thank you so much it is nice to receive kind words. Nice. 2nd Great grandfather is in a small family cemetery that I visited years ago when I was doing family genealogy research. It was in some ones back yard with a chain link fence around it and it was covered in thorn bushes. It was interesting trying to get in and locate his and my 2nd great grandmothers grave sites. So sorry to read about what you all are having to go through. People keep telling me to look on the bright side but that is always easier said than done. Most of my camera gear was high and dry, my computer also, my five backup external drive all had water inside which I poured out. I mention that I want to tackle the 15-20 binders that hold my sleeved negatives and contact prints and selected proof prints. Meg says: “why? Why keep those? Will you ever use them?” Hmm, well Meg, you have been after me to print a few flower macros and most of my favorites were with the 645. I suppose I could go back to using a 645Z and go off looking for flowers. Meg says: “That would make more sense than trying to recover those thousands of negatives just to find and produce 5 prints.” I think she has a point. Particularly if it turns out that my digital archives are also toast. Starting next Monday a professional cleaning crew of 5-6 persons will spend 3-4 days mitigating the flood damage, sanitizing, and cleaning. Another 2 weeks after that of high powered fans for drying. Meanwhile we’ll be looking for new stove, refrigerator, furnace/boiler, hot water heaters, washer and dryer, bedroom furniture, living room furniture... Assuming that our insurance coverage comes through, by July this will mostly be behind us and I can revisit that thought about a 645Z... Thought for the day: avoid floods. The morning he passed on I laid down on the couch for a bit to get a few hours of sleep. I had a dream of him waiting in a line and holding a teddy bear that I had gotten him for his birthday and I was standing in another line across the way watching. Then I woke up and went in to check on him. Oh me my dear friend was not there any more. He had gotten to where he didn't want to attempt to even get out of bed. His last time at the hospital they set up hospice to come to our house as to keep him from having to go back and forth to the hospital. OT: Not the greatest past few weeks...
The past few weeks here have been worrisome, stressful and emotionally draining. My partner of 28 years had to be put in the hospital last Saturday. He had been getting weak and was staying in bed a lot. He has had a fatty cyst on his lower back that has never given him trouble but with him laying down a lot it ended up getting infected. This caused him to get an infection and with his liver damage it wasn't sending signals to his body that he had the infection. Got him home this past Thursday from the hospital with a hole in his lower back where they opened it to drain the infection and other fluids. It has to be packed and bandaged everyday. He is still weak but is way better than he was before we got him to the hospital. Tiny our 18 year old sweet little tea cup chihuahua passed away today. He had worried himself sick about his daddy and started not eating or drinking. When I would come in from being at the hospital each day I would love on him and he would spend time with me but then would go and lay back down waiting on his daddy to come home. Last Friday I rushed him to the vet as he was still lethargic and very weak. The vet did all he could for him but his tiny heart just couldn't take anymore and he died mid day today. Once the ground has thawed some I will be burying him with his favorite toy, a small little bear. So I have been taking care of my partner and now I am mourning and hurting from the loss of our four legged son. -- Jeffery Johnson | Photo Captures by Jeffery https://www.PhotoCapturesbyJeffery.com Diverse range of photography Artistic - Animals - Events/Festivals - Transportation - Pets - Nature - Scenic - Cityscape. PESO: Night Visit
The past couple of weeks have been rather interesting on many different levels. Me and my photography side kick went Sunday evening to Franklin TN for the lighting of 10,000 luminaries, representing the casualties of the battle of Franklin, that were lit at dusk. While there I began getting a headache so I wasn't fully able to enjoy it all. Last night she and I went to Opryland Hotel for all of their Christmas / Holiday decorations and we walked out about 11. A couple of weeks ago had an old high school friend order a framed mated print of the following for a family member. I don't want to say to much as one doesn't know if they may see this before they open their gift. http://www.photocapturesbyjeffery.com/p703905278/h37051af4 I had a wonderful person in New Zealand attempt to order a print as a Holiday Gift and that is when I discovered she was not able to order one because the services I use won't ship outside of the USA/Canada. I spent Tuesday getting it all sorted out and now have it so folks can order prints and select products internationally outside of the USA. One of those I was pleasantly pleased about is puzzles. I know I can set it to where I could do a self-fulfilled checkout but at this stage I am not personally at a means to work out all those details. Well a long story short she was happily able to order the following print. http://www.photocapturesbyjeffery.com/p339098354/h5d9697d As I stated above Sunday we went to Franklin TN well on our way back to Nashville we drove into Centennial Park to see if they had the Parthenon lit up for the Holidays. Clarity not there yet, but color perception matches now and the very best thing is the doc and hospital respected my wish not to be sedated at all - my wish because the sedatives from last time really scrambled my brain. I don't drink at all, don't take anything to help me sleep. That is, I think being totally free of anything that might make me sleepy, that mix of stuff given me over a year ago reduced my brain to mush and affected my balance. I hated it. This time I walked in to the O R , got greeted my all the nurses, students , fellows, my Doc and one other.. and listened to them chat about pop music in addition to saying stuff to each other about what was going on - Doc is a teacher at Columbia Pres and they filmed the procedure. I did have the requisite friend with me to help me home (returning the favor I did him a few years ago) , and given we had a long ride on the A train afterwards and it was raining I was glad to have some physical support. Nice, too, was - that by coincidence, my nurse outside the OR turned out to be the son of another friend and I think it helped me get my way or at least gave me some more credence that I really really did want to avoid sedation - local drugging more than enough. Only pain I felt at all was when they pulled off the tape that held down the cover around my eye.. a minor ouch. Doc did have me getting hydrated with an IV and I was told if she felt that I wasn't holding still enough I would have to succumb to the dreaded drugs you can bet I didn't move! Thank you Darren. We sat with the sun to our backs but it still caused some interesting shadows on faces and the like. Right now I can't afford higher end lenses so I have been using the 55-300 kit lens that came with my KR a few years back. I find if I get on the ground and look up at an angle it works to help prevent too much of the crowd being in the photos. I still get the crowd at times but it works for most of the time. The bleachers they have are not tall enough to get a good downward angle of the dancers. This will make his third stint with in oh 12 to 15 years. What we thought at first was him having a bad reaction to the Flu shot was actually him having a mild heart attack. His symptoms: - Chills and shakes from being cold - Fever - Nauseous - Slight pain in his left arm - Achy feeling - Throwing Up He didn't have any chest pain but as stated above mild discomfort in his left arm. Please know that a heart attack could be disguised as something else and you won't always have major chest pains. Re: PESO: Mount Juliet Powwow
Thanks Tim and yes on some I did turn down the clarity as it seemed to fit the mood of the two days. It was an interesting challenge getting the dancers and doing my best to avoid the background of people, drummer/singer tents and light poles. Re: PESO: Mount Juliet Powwow
Thanks Ken. It was a real pain not to get the crowd around the circle, nor the tents the different drummers were located within the circle, the light poles and the announcers area.
