Do you really need auto-focus, and is it likely to be accurate enough with such a lens? If so, why isn't your dream asking for SDM, perhaps FA *? It's a dream. A wading through molasses with no pants on ... dream. If not, what's wrong with the A series 50/1.2? Nothing wrong with it other than it never seems to be available when I have money, and is frequently offered only when I don't. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

A copy of this lens was recently listed on ebay for big . On Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 12:21 AM, Miserere wrote: > > Pentax made a special edition SMC-A 50mm f/1.2 with a Ltd like > body...but no AF. Re: Dream lens again
Make that an FA Ltd 50mm f/1.2. A lens like this is begging for a nice metal body and smooth manual focusing. Pentax made a special edition SMC-A 50mm f/1.2 with a Ltd like body...but no AF. It was made for the LX Millennium edition. Pics of lens and camera: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/pentaxlx/pentaxy2k/htmls/index.htm One of these, priced like the 31 Ltd, would be very nice. I'd sell a few lenses in order to buy it. Not going to happen, though. --M. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- http://www.EnticingTheLight.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 2010/1/15 John Sessoms : > Just thought of this because of the "Why Pentax" thread. > > FA 50 f/1.2 ... that's FA, not FAJ, not DA, not DA* > > Full frame fast 50, with a functioning aperture ring, so I could manually > set the aperture on the lens if I wanted to. > > Of course they'd also have to build future cameras that worked with the > lens. > > Don't have any reason to think they will, but that's MY dream. > > -- > PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List > PDML@pdml.net > http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net > to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and > follow the directions. > -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Well, there is a reason it is called a 'Dream' - nice wish but not gonna happen. -- Bruce Friday, January 15, 2010, 1:23:16 PM, you wrote: JS> Just thought of this because of the "Why Pentax" thread. Dream lens again
Just thought of this because of the "Why Pentax" thread. FA 50 f/1.2 ... that's FA, not FAJ, not DA, not DA* Full frame fast 50, with a functioning aperture ring, so I could manually set the aperture on the lens if I wanted to. Of course they'd also have to build future cameras that worked with the lens. Don't have any reason to think they will, but that's MY dream. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
