I got a refund of about $1000 because I overpaid estimated tax in 2015, but on April 18 I had to make the first estimated tax payment for 2016 of about $4500. That's how it works for small biz owners. No joy at tax time. I'm due a Federal refund of $0.97, which I can just forget because they ain't gonna' send me a check for an amount that small; won't even direct deposit it. OTOH, if I *OWED* them $0.97 ... This year I will get a refund on my state taxes. It should arrive sometime within 12 weeks of the April 18th filing DEADLINE. Even though I filed well before the deadline they won't answer inquiries before July 11th.
