thank you Rick. the white markings are coasts of lime, to prevent 
pests, particularly one insect that bores into the tree trunk

In june last, i applied for working from home (with a reduction in pay) and
shifted to Palakkad in the southern state of Kerala and about 550 km from
Chennai/Madras since anyway i was due for retirement this december (60
being the retirement age in India). personally, i am glad i made the
