For a glamour portrait, which I suppose is what you are after, the
lighting ratio is usually set to be short. That is less difference
between main light and fill light. The lighting ratio on these is
all wrong. Not enough fill. This kind of lighting is more
appropriate to an older male model, not the girl you were
photographing. She is a professional model? She needs to relax her
face more, since her smile looks very strained in some of these, very
artificial.

Hello list
Today was Model Night at the Camera Club.
Great fun. A model from a local bureau was in the studio - an experienced
club member showed us how to set the lights (I've been doing studio work for
the last 14 years - but I still got some good advice). We all got the
oportunity to take some shots (this was actually the second model night -
since the studio is not big enough for all of us).
I must say was difficult to concentrate . the studio was quite crowded.
The model haas agrees to pose for me exclusivly some day soon ;-))

I'm not really satisfied with the sharpness - I guess I must try to use MF
next time :-)
BTW - they're all shot with Limited 77mm and FA 1.4 50mm.

2006-07-12 Thread Jens Bladt
I think you ar right, Bob. The fill light was mostly a reflector screen, not
properly set.
I did the lighting myself for the shots where she's sitting the wrong way
on a chair, myslef, though.
She is semi professional model - a member of an amateur bureau.

Nope. I like shadows!
BTW: I discovered that I must try to crop more in the actual recording.
Some of the shots are cropped down to appr. 1/4 size. This means it's really
1.5 MP shots. Not more resolution than a decent cellphone camera !
Or I'll try to photograph her with my Pentacon 6x6 and a Schneider
Kreutznach lens next time :-)
It will provide 70 MP scans !

It's better than most of the others, but I'd still use a bit more

First thing I would do is tell her to shut her mouth and relax her
