Re: New Products at PMA
I suspect that we'll see some new things at PMA and then more new things at CeBIT. This is the first time that Pentax will be a CeBIT exhibitor and I would assume that they would want something newsworthy to amrk the occassion. New Products at PMA
In an effort to determine if Pentax will be debuting any high level equipment at PMA, I looked back in the Pentax news archives and found that the MZ-S, 24-90mm lens and the pro dslr prototype were all announced on Feb 10, 2001. This was only 1 day prior to the first day of PMA, which was held Feb 11-14 that year. This may give us hope that something in a dslr or flagship will be introduced this year at PMA except that both the MZ-S and prototype dslr were previewed at Photokina the preceeding fall. DG

There are limits on how much Pentax can show at PMA. Apart from all the stuff we have seen already, I'll be surprised if there's anything more at the show proper than the DSLR (maybe in prototype form) and the new lenses dedicated to the DSLR. I believe Pentax will reserve some products for the Japan camera show later this spring. Pål

Re: New Products at PMA
I'm certainly no marketing expert, but this sort of thing is done all the time. Thinking specifically of Auto Shows, the manufacturers tend to spread out their world premieres among the various major shows. I suppose that keeps interest up at each individual show - the flip side would be that everyone would be bitching that Pentax (or whoever) had nothing new or interesting at the Japan Camera Show, because they premiered everything at PMA. I'm guessing that the show organizers like it that way, too (our show premiered 135 all-new products this year!). regards, frank Rob Studdert wrote: Is it only me that sees this proposition as an extremely poor approach at addressing a dynamic market? Re: New Products at PMA
Dear all, I recall Pentax shown the MZ-S and MZ-D in Photokina2000 and PMA2001. Then they silently put out the Optio 330 in the Japan Camera Show 2001, just a few weeks after PMA2001. In retrospect, the Optio 330 shown in Japan has much higher impact and influence on Pentax than the MZ-S We all know that Pentax always saves the best products for their Japanese market. The coming PMA2003 is not the end of the story. Probably, the black version of *ist will be shown in Japan as the limited edition for domestic market only?
