Without raining on your parade too much, this was tried earlier this year.
Apart from a couple of honourable exceptions, the active participation was
considerably underwhelming. Check the archive for something like PDML book

That may be so but, as I recall, the previous attempt was tied in with
choosing images to match the quotes of the year. Something that's
more open in scope might have a better chance of success.

I'd be interested in submitting images and buying the book.

I fully agree. Should anyone having enough spare time will manage such a
book, my advice is not tie it with anything else, being them quotes, PUG
submissions, PESO's or the like. Otherwise, things will become
complicated and someone could feel his/her contribution to be inappropriate.
Let the would be authors submit their entries (PUG and PESO pictures
allowed, not mandatory) and make others do the selection.

Keep it simple. Just make it a damn good photo book!

Ciao,

Quotes could be put on the last two or three pages or something. Separate
from photos. (Along with something saying all the photos are copyrighted.)

I'd be willing to contribute two pics (two's the limit?) as long as it
doesn't have to be pictures taken in 2008. I haven't actually taken that many
pictures this year.

I think some guidelines need to be agreed upon. Something simple, like two
photos (no restrictions as to dates, subjects, gear ;-), except maybe no
nudes) from each contributor.

Maybe it's wise not call it an annual either, unless everyone thinks this
will continue to happen every year. Some other name that doesn't imply it will
happen every year.

My .02.

PDML Annual, was - Blurb books

2008-12-04 Thread Scott Loveless
It seems like a few of you have gone to the trouble to publish a tome
or two. The folks over at the LUG publish a year book, well, every
year. I think they allow up to two photographs, and it looks like any
of their list subscribers can contribute. Anyone ever consider a PDML
annual? Just curious.
