Well, you take a bucket or step stool with you to stand on when you are too low for a shot. Oh, and a purple evil minion with wild hair (it used to be a troll toy with orange hair, but time moves on). Then you plump it down in the middle of the shot. To give perspective and be annoying cute. And if you really, really want to and have the time -- you travel around the world and plump it down in the middle of shots in all the countries you visit. Re: PESO - Morning Light
I have no idea how far to go. I tend to do little more than crop (which if you remember, Bruce, I refused to do with film) and fiddle with curves and levels. I don't personally like the idea of post processing taking over from what the photographer does in the camera - as both a viewer and photographer. But that's just me. And I love your photo! Beautiful light. Re: PESO - Morning Light
As far as you want, Bruce. My opinion is it depends on who you consider to be your audience (it could be just you) and what you are trying to portray to them. You could be portraying a fantasy scene to folks who enjoy fantastic images. You'd be likely to take a shot then add composites, Photoshop it to reshape stuff, or paint on it, etc. Toss a unicorn in there if you like. At the other end you may be targeting nature lovers and assuming journalistic boundaries. Then going beyond getting the exposure right may be too much. :-) Personally, I do what I feel like and to hell with the naysayers. "What I feel like" is constantly changing and is influenced by experience. I'm not jaded in the sense that I don't see the beauty in real time. More in the sense that when I look at a photograph I may not fully realize it's beauty, or it's potential impact on others because I've seen the real thing. Re: PESO - Morning Light
Thanks Paul, Jack, Marnie, Cotty, Godfrey, P.J. A small book is one of the things I'm thinking of... "Unnoticed Idaho". As I ponder photos to include in a book, portfolio, or gallery, I'm concluding that not every photo can be my personal favorite or needs to be. Nor will every photo resonate with every single viewer. When I view similar books, there are ususally a couple of photos that are my favorite, which I saw "Wow" to... 'wish I'd been there to see and shoot that', though all are good. That's sort of the way I feel about "Morning Light". It has a different feel and look than some of my other shots, and so will generate a different reaction in different people. Thanks for the feedback. Tom C. >From: Paul Stenquist <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >Hey, I don't care how many landscapes you've photographed. This is >spectacular and certainly one of your best. Re: PESO - Morning Light
Hello Tom, I think it is pretty cool. Being jaded with the area you live in is a common problem. No matter where it is, we get so used to it. I have some friends who grew up in northern California in the heart of redwood country. I love to go up there to be among those giant trees and in those beautiful forests. One time, we were going up there and I talked with them before we left. They were wondering why we were going up there. They said "All there is up there is a bunch of trees." I just had to laugh. Keep the shots coming, even if you feel they are jaded. Those of us who don't have that type of scenery appreciate being able to glimpse your corner of the world. -- Best regards, Bruce Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 9:17:08 AM, you wrote: TC> Just floating this out there for comments.
