Re: PESO 2016 - copying Minox negatives - GDG

2016-01-06 Thread Christine Aguila
Very nice, Godfrey. I enjoyed seeing these. I like the photos! I hope to be
doing some scanning soon as I purchased an Epson V600. I’ve done some test
scans of course, but I haven’t yet started rummaging around in old photos and
negatives to scan. Obviously, it’s not the same as your set up described
below, but . . .

Cheers, Christine

I loved my old Minox! What a special camera that was.

When I was in the Marine Corps, I carried it with me at all times,
especially in the airplane. When I returned from my overseas
deployment, the friends I left behind insisted that I leave them three
of my precious possessions: my guitar, my tiny Christmas tree and my
Minox.

You could probably adapt an old enlarger stand in place of the tripod.

PESO 2016 - copying Minox negatives - GDG

2016-01-03 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
I posted an article on the GetDPI forum today showing the result of using a
Leica SL copy setup to capture Minox 8x11 mm negatives. It produces the best
quality digital capture of a Minox negative I've achieved yet. The setup and a
couple of negatives captures are available at:

  http://www.getdpi.com/forum/leica/57279-leica-sl-minox-negative-copy.html

The finished, full resolution image is 3700 x 5093 pixels in size, or about 18
Mpixels—plenty of leeway there for making high quality prints.

enjoy,
G
