As usual, you are right;  the bird on the branch is the pick of the litter.

I almost didn’t include that one because I had so many shots that were so much 
clearer, but I liked it well enough aesthetically to put it in.

Excellent shots. I get Pine Siskins here occasionally as well. This area is 
south of their usual habitat, but they are known to wander. They are finches, 
so they love thistle seeds, just like their golden cousins.

Pine Siskins

We’ve had a few pine siskins in the yard over the past few days. A lot of their 
normal habitat went up in flames this year so they’ve been seen a lot of places 
they don’t normally show up. We also had a windstorm earlier in the week, which 
blew a lot of redwood seeds down. They seem a bit less skittish than a lot of 
the other small birds around here, so I was able to spend a bit more time a bit 
closer than I usually get with LBBs.
