Shel I was thinking about you photo last night, and i was wondering what your photo would look like if you photographed that wall in context, say part of the wall and the street/area it faces and the fence that it is behind. I guess I'm not sure what it means, but it's interesting. I might have gone to transform/distort and squared it off. It's an interesting record of something that someone created, but I don't think it goes beyond recording the art of another. Hello Paul, I'm not quite sure how to take your post, so I will try not to read anything into it. You may recall that I started this series with the following comment: One of the things I want to do this year is to photograph the areas in which I live and frequent, making photos of the things that may be interesting, unusual, or that in some way reflect the culture and the atmosphere of the area. I don't expect great social commentaries, or for the pics to always be well composed, artistic images, but, rather, just a few glimpses of the things around the area that night reflect the sensibilities of the people living and working in these neighborhoods. IOW, the pic is a document of something in the area that I saw that seemed worthy of documenting. Transforming and heavy manipulation are out of the question for these pics. They are what they are and that's all that they are ... As for the meaning, well, that's up to the individual of course, although I have found some meaning in the image. Hi, Didn't mean to be overly critical, but if it's an effort to document the area, then I'd like to see the context. All I see here is the art of another.
