I've owned one of those in the past. Didn't have it at the same time as the Vivitar so I don't know how they'd compare. Still, the Vivitar's strictly manual focus so they're kind of different animals. I keep the Vivitar in my small and light kit. The relatively wide aperture and 1:2.5 macro capability make it really versatile. Aside from optical quality, I'd compare them like this: Vivitar 70-210/2.8-4 advantages: Wider max aperture 1:2.5 macro Filter ring doesn't rotate when focusing Pentax F70-210 advantages: Smaller lighter (slightly) Autofocus Takes smaller (less expensive) filters -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
