Re: [Phono-L] Irving Kaufman - Death Photo
That would certainly be a hard calendar to use, having only one page and that page being behind glass in a frame. Not to restate the already obvious, but everything about this picture looks stages to me. He looks quite healthy, frankly. Guess I'll have to go to wikipedia to find out the 'truth', lol. I searched all over the government sites and finally found the proof. Here is the REAL (Official) photo from their archives: http://www.preservemymoney.com/pictures/IrvingKaufman_Official.jpg I think someone needs to make a documentary or at least a reality TV show about this... ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org
[Phono-L] Mike Vertucci has passed away
I just wanted to pass along for those of you who knew Mike Vertucci, that he passed away yesterday morning in his sleep. He had been in very ill health for the last year and a half since he fell and was paralyzed from the waist down. Mike was an avid collector with a childlike enthusiasm for the hobby. Although some had less than satisfying transactions with Mike over the years, I truly believe that his intentions were always good, if not always 100% accurate in his descriptions. Up until a month ago, Mike was still so excited about collecting. Even bedridden and with no money, he was making deals and trades in his head and looked to the future. Truly the hobby is what kept him going and helped to lift his spirits. R.I.P. Mike. ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org
Re: [Phono-L] Mike Vertucci has passed away
Although I never met Mike in person, I corresponded with him for over 10 years. I bought three machines from him. They were an early front mount AH, 2/4 min Edison Model A Triumph, and a late BNW with a giant fluted horn. These machines were in great condition and my favorites. Mike and I would talk on the phone for over an hour talking about phonographs and other subjects. It's been a privilege to know you Mike and RIP.
