No need to do a thing... everyone was transferred over in one fell swoop. It's just been quiet for a couple of days. Speaking of quiet, would anyone like to volunteer a report from the CAPS show? Along with that I am running Norton Anti-virus corporate edition. Could any of these apps be working against me for successful chat?? Tom Holy cow, Tom! It's much easier just to buy a Mac ;) Seriously, the chat is simply a java application; your spyware and antivirus software shouldn't have any effect on it. Be aware that Microsoft no longer supplies a Java runtime with Windows XP. You have to download and install yourself. First, check your Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and check to see if you have Java installed. If not, go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html and click on the first download link in the JRE column. Loran

[Phono-L] Columbia AH question
Do not grease/oil a fiber gear. You may be able to adjust the gears a bit to contact in a different area, which may reduce the noise. Otherwise, new nylon replacements are available. Regards, Loran On Feb 14, 2005, at 5:55 PM, diamondisk...@aol.com wrote: In a message dated 2/14/2005 1:01:13 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, tom...@msn.com writes: The gear that drives the governor assembly looks to be made of some sort of a fibrous material, somewhat orange in color. Is it save to lubricate that material as you would a metal gear? I am going to take a cue from our politicians, (all of them), and expound on a topic of which my knowledge is very limited. I am an Edison man. Therefore, I have no direct knowledge of fiber gears. However, I once read an article about them which stuck in my memory. The article said that fiber gears can wear out metal gears, because the fiber gears produce abrasive particles as they wear. If you grease this pressed fiber gear, those particles and the grease will form an abrasive goo, which will accelerate the wearing of the metal gear. I would think that greasing a pressed fiber gear would accelerate that gear's deterioration also. Now the real experts can answer your question properly. I went back into my ITG archive and looked. Those were the Victor V barrel key and Edison E Dolphin barrel keys, not the Amberola style keys. Speaking of the Amberola key, I now have the exact dimensions from the key shown on my site. As soon as I get a few spare minutes, I'll see if I can whip one up. [Phono-L] 10-50 Auto Changer Parts
As a followup to my search for 10-50 changer parts, I contacted Charlie Weatherbee a couple of weeks ago. The bad news is that he doesn't seem to be planning on making any more of these sets - in fact, he had sent out his last complete set two days before I emailed him. The good news is that he graciously completed a set for me anyway. I got the parts yesterday and they are just the ticket.
