Re: [Phono-L] More phonos from Shorpy
You'll notice in the bike shop photo, the phonograph that the men are clustered around at the back right of the photo (actually the front of the store) is fitted with an 'Ideal Self-Supporting Horn'. Re the photo of the native american making a record, I used that photo in the GSPS newsletter for November's Monthly Mirth, which consists of a phonograph related photo with a funny (to me anyhow) caption that I compose each month. I try to keep them topical to the month of publication, and this one was for Thanksgiving. My caption for the photo was So my great great grandfather says to Squanto, Hey, they look nice. What harm can come from sitting down to a feast with them?/// John Robles --- On Thu, 12/30/10, Mike Stitt smst...@gmail.com wrote: From: Mike Stitt smst...@gmail.com Subject: [Phono-L] More phonos from Shorpy To: Antique Phonograph List phono-l@oldcrank.org Date: Thursday, December 30, 2010, 11:55 PM More from Shorpy, high def... http://www.shorpy.com/node/3582?size=_original http://www.shorpy.com/node/9414?size=_original The Mall, two phono stores, http://www.shorpy.com/node/7402?size=_original Dan M is that a nipper in a dog house on the right by the doll? http://www.shorpy.com/node/6302?size=_original This one is for you Dan M http://www.shorpy.com/node/1972?size=_original No phono's but what a drug store! http://www.shorpy.com/node/6676?size=_original Oldcranky Mike ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org

What is that ball-like horn end where a reproducer would attach on that disk phono, left bottom of photo? What brand/model phono? That is a Victor Jr. It could also have a morning glory type horn with that same ball socket.
