[Phono-L] Victor I question
Phono List: Are the back-bracket and tone arm from a Victor I II interchangeable? Are the parts needed interchangeable from other machines workable as well? later Bob ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org
Re: [Phono-L] Victor I question
The Victor I used back-bracket/elbow parts UNIQUE to it. Parts from other machines can not be substituted. There is some anecdotal evidence to suggest that in the period 1915 - 1920 those small numbers of Victor I's being produced may finally have acquired back-brackets virtually identical to contemporary Victor II's, but these machines are extremely rare and therefore do not enter into the discussion. Re: [Phono-L] Victor I question
Hi Bob, As you know, the Victor I was the smallest and cheapest of the Victor 1-6 line. Most everything is scaled down to keep costs low. All the back mount / tone arm parts (elbow, back mount, arm and I think the clip) are smaller on the I. The reproducer is of course, the same. Motors are different as well, but I don't remember if the holes line up to interchange. -Scott Denise Corbett -Original Message- From: phono-l-boun...@oldcrank.org [mailto:phono-l-boun...@oldcrank.org] On Behalf Of Bob Maffit Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2013 8:53 AM To: 'Antique Phonograph List' Subject: [Phono-L] Victor I question Phono List: Are the back-bracket and tone arm from a Victor I II interchangeable? Re: [Phono-L] Victor I question
The later Victor I from 1909 -20, or later used a larger case. They used the same tone arm and elbow as a Victor II. I have a Victor I from 1910 that has the larger case 12x 12, and uses the 10 steel turntable. This has a Victor II bracket, arm, and elbow, and everything aligns perfectly. Is your Victor I the early one with a small case, or the larger one like mine?
