Re: [PHP-DB] PHP use in Federal Govt
Hi Mark The US Holocaust Memorial Museum (Department of Interior) primarily uses PHP for web application development. The reason is because the main web server is Apache on Solaris. IMHO, if you are using Apache on Linux/UNIX, then PHP is probably your best choice. If you are using IIS on Windows, then .NET may be the most suitable choice. Of course, I am assuming that Perl (too cryptic for casual developers), JSP (God forbid), and Cold Fusion (anyone still using that?) are not being considered. However, you may not have a choice if M$ is politically in the pockets of your superiors at the top. Fortunately, that is not the case at my agency. -- bob On Fri, 16 Jul 2004, Galbreath, Mark A wrote: > Alls, > > My division at State is trying to get PHP 5.0 approved for use by developers > in the Department, and the Powers That Be are requesting evidence that other > Federal agencies/military are using PHP, and the extent of it's use. > > Anybody have a clue about this? The National Weather Service (Department of Commerce) uses php for many of their needs. Their main page (http://weather.gov/index.php). All warning maps are either done by PHP or perl. > > On Fri, 16 Jul 2004, Galbreath, Mark A wrote: > > > Alls, > > > > My division at State is trying to get PHP 5.0 approved for use by developers > > in the Department, and the Powers That Be are requesting evidence that other > > Federal agencies/military are using PHP, and the extent of it's use. > > > > Anybody have a clue about this? Re: [PHP-DB] PHP use in Federal Govt
I wrote an application in PHP that the Department of Housing and Urban Development uses for its Grant programs. PHP + MySQL They love it. Anybody have a clue about this? I sure would appreciate some help! I use it extensively in my unit and know of others that are using it, too. I've made several PHP based programs (see http://www.bigredspark.com/survey) that are being used by the "powers that be" here. If you have any military that can get me on AKO, I can give more details. -- ---John Holmes... Re: [PHP-DB] PHP use in Federal Govt
My division at State is trying to get PHP 5.0 approved for use by developers in the Department, and the Powers That Be are requesting evidence that other Federal agencies/military are using PHP, and the extent of it's use. Anybody have a clue about this? I sure would appreciate some help! I've taught a number of courses on PHP to members of the National Forest service (under the USDA). They use it to interact with Oracle databases for both Internet and Intranet pages.
