Hi, I agree that it's a bad practice not to use a wrapper but it seems most people who use PHP took mysql for granted and haven't used any wrappers in their code. Anyway the kind of wrappers commonly used to help separate out mysql/pgsql/mssql code probably will not be able to make full use of the new features available in mysqli. There's going to be a hell of a lot of conversion work ahead and not all of it can be automated. electroteque wrote: Heh i just read the bit about having to change the functions from mysql to mysqli, now what is someone doesnt use a db wrapper, they'd have a field day, lucky i use a wrapper heh. -Original Message- From: Raditha Dissanayake [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, February 29, 2004 1:21 AM To: electroteque Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [PHP] PHP5 only configures mysql 4.1 source with mysqli Hi, Mysqli installation certainly isn't improved :-) i had a lot of trouble too, and shared my experience online at http://www.raditha.com/mysql/mysqli.php hope someone finds it usefull. -- Raditha Dissanayake. http://www.radinks.com/sftp/ | http://www.raditha.com/megaupload Lean and mean Secure FTP applet with | Mega Upload - PHP file uploader Graphical User Inteface. No. It has worked fine for me, but I stopped using it about a year ago. I returned it to a personal site this morning and it no longer works. Looking at the code, the two weather servers listed are: http://desktop.weather.com/weather/secdesktop/ http://weather.interceptvector.com/weather.xml Neither server is found if I enter the URL in a browser. I suspect the URLs need to be updated, although I don't see any information about weather on interceptvector.com. Odd that the sample page on cruelacid.com seems to be working, though. When the client needed to make changes she used to tell me and I used to do it by ftping in, dl'ing the files, making changes, uploading them. Now she found that in the control panel you can edit the files yourself...but when she tried it told her that the right permissions are not set for that...it only seems to be working is if its chmod'ed to 66* or 777, I have no problem with handing over full control to the client but if i chmod all those files to 66* or 777 and she gets hacked shes gonna blame me...so my question is...is it safe to do that or tell her shes just gonna have to learn FTP if she wants to do it? [PHP] Cookies
Hi everyone, I have a bit of a dilemma. I am using a Miva Shopping Cart, not through any desire of mine but my client wants it, at least for now. However, instead using the provided Store front, we want to create our own. Here is the dilemma: Miva uses cookies, which is fine. However, the Miva pages would be accessed by my PHP pages on the website. Therefore, the cookies have nowhere to go. They are not placed on my client, because in this case my web server is the client. Can I trick the Miva pages to believe that I am in fact accessing a cookie? By possibly using headers? Re: [PHP] A question about permissions.....might be a bit 0T
Ryan A wrote: Hi, I installed OSCommerce for a client quite some time back and everything was running smoothly. Its presently on 644. The problem here is that the user that she is FTP-ing in with is not the same user as PHP, so PHP (ie, Apache process) cannot read her changes. There are a few solutions here. One is to set the default permissions for FTP files to something liberal that PHP can read (this would be done at the FTP server config files). Or, chown the files to the apache process (usually apache or nobody). -- PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
