Hi Felipe  mira,

Finally I had a good chance to review ntk.

I found a few things which I just pushed to alioth:

1. Fixed clean target to remove *.pyc files left behind by waf
2. Switched Vcs URL to cgit
3. Added a README.Debian explaining the waf-light 1.6.11 v 1.8.8 issue
4. Added a gbp.conf file  upstream metadata

Actually, I don't see why it couldn't be released to unstable rather
than experimental as it is NEW anyway and is mainly for use by the other
non packages to come. The changelog still says UNRELEASED.

Looks good to go to me!

Cheers,

Ross

 WTF is wrong with C++ symbols files? The symbols are all there, they
 differ just in name by their last character.

C++ symbols get mangled to arch-specific names. To make the *.symbols file work
you need to use the c++ symbols pattern with the demangled C++ symbol names.

E.g. instead of:

  _ZN4FLAC7Decoder4File13read_callbackEPhPm@Base 1.3.0

use:

  (c++)FLAC::Decoder::File::read_callback(unsigned char*, unsigned
long*)@Base 1.3.0

The demangling can be done using c++filt as follows (not sure if there's an
automatic way to convert a whole symbols file):

  % echo _ZN4FLAC7Decoder4File13read_callbackEPhPm@Base | c++filt
  FLAC::Decoder::File::read_callback(unsigned char*, unsigned long*)@Base

Alternatively you could use the regex symbols pattern, but I don't think it's
the recommended way.

See dpkg-gensymbols(1) for more info.

Cheers

Hi,

I am not sure upstream have completely lost interest. There was a
release last year and a commit this year. OTOH, I saw no statement about
moving away from Google Code hosting which they would have to do
soonish, and there are definitely more new issues than recent commits.

It is also a good point about the number of alternatives. I have noticed
that whilst updating the multimedia-blends tasks [1].

Maybe over the Stretch cycle we could use the blend pages to help weed
out the less popular and duplicate/overlapping or older/under maintained
packages. For a start I could demote some of them to lower relevance
instead of high relevance so they appear lower on the web pages.

But for now, I would be happy to add myself to Uploaders and keep an eye
on things for a bit longer.

Cheers,

Ross

Bug#783258: flac: FTBFS due to missing symbols

 WTF is wrong with C++ symbols files? The symbols are all there, they
 differ just in name by their last character.

$ c++filt
_ZN4FLAC7Decoder4File13read_callbackEPhPm
_ZN4FLAC7Decoder4File13read_callbackEPhPj
FLAC::Decoder::File::read_callback(unsigned char*, unsigned long*)
FLAC::Decoder::File::read_callback(unsigned char*, unsigned int*)

And read_callback is defined like this in the include file:
virtual ::FLAC__StreamDecoderReadStatus read_callback(FLAC__byte buffer[],
size_t *bytes);

size_t changes between long and int on different platforms and therefore
different symbols are generated.

You can use pkgkde-symbolshelper from pkg-kde-tools which will allow you
to insert {size_t} substitutions into the symbols files. I had to do a
lot of this (and mark lots of symbols optional) when I packaged libsfml
and I think it turned out ok.

Eg:
https://sources.debian.net/src/libsfml/2.1%2Bdfsg2-1/debian/libsfml-network2.symbols
https://sources.debian.net/src/libsfml/2.1%2Bdfsg2-1/debian/rules

Bug#783082: Aw: Re: linux-image-3.16.0-4-586: video players/browsers crash with 'illegal instruction' on i586

2015-04-25 Thread Bernhard Übelacker

Hello hikaru,
(I have tried to split the browser issue into a different bug #783293.)

When libav is built with this 3 attached changes then vlc and mplayer2
are not crashing anymore.

This would need some more tests as I had only my qemu VM (which was way
too slow) with one video file inside.

Kind regards,
Bernhard
