I somehow missed that mp4v2 was MPL 1.1... thought it was 2.0 I have to correct myself: even the frontend code in faac is licensed under the LGPL (I mixed this up with the gtkpod+mp4v2 situation). But parts of libfaac are imposed with further restrictions that make it incompatible with about any other possible open-source license. One idea perhaps: Could one fulfil the license if the lib was dynamically loaded? Since both licenses are incompatible, the resulting binaries would be unredistributable. You will need to either rebuild the package locally or use a different tool like e.g. ffmpeg which uses a properly licensed mp4 muxer such as libavformat.
