I'll put this on the wish list - it has been mentioned many times before.
Currently I'm simply using the format returned by SlimServer, which is
never without a progress bar.

- Is there a way to gave your plugin take the place of the 'now

Not yet, but it is on the todo list. This possibility has only recently
been made available (see

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: TrackStat?

2006-09-10 Thread erland

Both TrackStat and standard slimserver will keep track of the number of
times a track is played. The difference when installing TrackStat is
that the play counts will not be reset every time you perform a full
rescan, with only the standard slimserver the play counts will be reset
when you perform a full rescan.

None of the alternatives will currently show the play counts when you
right click of a track with the remote in the standard browse menus.
With TrackStat installed you can view the play counts by right clicking
on a track in the TrackStat menu, or by viewing them in the TrackStat
web interface. Without TrackStat you can view the play count of the
most played tracks in the "Statistics" menu in the web interface.

Thanks Micheal for your most excellent plugin!

Two quick questions:
- Is there a way to have a format returning the current play time, but
without the progress bar? I would like to have something like
cursor/duration (for ex: 03:12/05:32). I would then put the progress
bar on the top line, by itself.

- Is there a way to gave your plugin take the place of the 'now
playing' mode? Like going directly in your plugin when pressing the
'now playing' button.

PS. I tried to look at it myself but I cannot, for the love of god,
understand that Perl thing. I've been a software engineer for more than
15 years (asm, C, C++, java, PHP, ...) and I've been using RegExps for a
long time too, but I cannot get that nasty thing of a language in my
mind. Oh well. I'll leave it to the real guys then ... :-D

thanks again.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [ANNOUNCE] Lazy Search v2.2 for SlimServer 6.5/7.0 released

2006-09-10 Thread dip

Great new addition to LayzSearch!

I found two minor issues:

1. When searching a song which has "no album" the resulting album title
of the found song is shown as HASH(0x53fb590).

2. I tried to find a song that has a "0" (zero) in the title (1001
Arabian night, that's from a album of my daugther!). The song is not
found with the keyword search although it is found with the title
search. Probably a problem since 0 is the delimiter for different
keywords.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] No alienbbc settings?

2006-09-10 Thread azinck3

I've just reconfigured my setup after a big move. I have a fresh
install of ss 6.5 (the Sept. 10th nightly) on a winXP SP2 machine. I
downloaded the latest version of the windows install pack (v. 1.05)
from the AlienBBC site, installed it, and restarted slimserver.
AlienBBC appears to be properly installed and I can listen to audio via
it, but the AlienBBC settings that used to appear under "server
settings" are not there. I've perused all of the menus and can find no
way to access the settings. I've been using AlienBBC for some time (in
previous versions and on various servers) and have installed it
multiple times, so I'm fairly confident that I did it correctly. Any
suggestions?

By the way, I added some commands that can be used in a custom IR map
file:

* modefunction_PLUGIN.SlimScrobbler::Plugin->nextAccount - cycles
through the available user accounts for the current player
* modefunction_PLUGIN.SlimScrobbler::Plugin->submitNow - performs a
submission
* modefunction_PLUGIN.SlimScrobbler::Plugin->toggleStatus - toggles
SlimScrobbler on and off on the current player

There's no new release for this, they're in the current version
already.

Without looking into this much further, this is probably down to
indexing, or rather, the lack of it.

The slimDB will have been created and optimised for the standard
slimserver query operations. One of the downsides to adding the ability
to have custom browse modes is that not all of them will be optimal.

There are a couple of possible solutions.

1. You could modify the slimDB definition to add index to speed up your
custom browse modes.

2. SlimDB could be completely re-factored to store all tags in one
"attributes" table, keyed to the tracks table. e.g.

id
track_id
attrib_name
attrib_value

Where:
id - unique id for this relation
track_id - track to which this relation belongs
attrib_name - name of tag, e.g. Genre, Artist, etc.
attrib_value - the value of the tag, e.g. "Rock", "AC/DC"

The advantage to this approach is that it makes it possible to
search/browse/organise by pretty much anything. And the table can have
the necessary indices to make it perform well.
R.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] RadioTime problem?

2006-09-10 Thread Phil Meyer
My alarm clock went off this morning, which is set to play random tracks.

Whilst the random tracks were playing, I decided to play a radio station via
Radio Time. The station played fine.

However, an hour or so later, when I looked back at the Now Playing screen, I
noticed that I had 12 tracks queued up. The first two were to do with the
radio stream, the other 10 were random tracks. I believe that starting the
radio station didn't stop the random play mode.

When I later decided to play music from my library, I saw a brief message to
say that random play mode was stopping.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [ANNOUNCE] Lazy Search v2.2 for SlimServer 6.5/7.0 released

2006-09-10 Thread Kim B. Heino

Hello Stuart,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll see whether I can get that (or something
similar) in the next version.

Great, thanks! It would make my life ever lazier... :-)

While you're at it, how about supporting non-english characters too? For
example, if I want to search for "Jättiläinen", now I have to search for
"ttil".

I tried to modify tr in lazyEncode, but that didn't help. I hate perl...
Simply encoding "äàáåâ" to "a" (and similar to other vowels) would be
enough for most cases.
