[SlimDevices: Plugins] ExtendedAlarm Autoshuffle plays same first track?

2008-04-07 Thread sk33ve

Brilliant work on ExtendedAlarm, does absolutely everything I wished the
built-in alarm did!

One curiosity though - is it my imagination or does the auto-shuffle
always play the same first track? I've used it a few times since the
patch added which saves the setting (wasn't sure it was working before
that), and it definitely seems to be the case, unless I'm just very
very unlucky?

Ineresting, thanks for pointing it out. I was looking at a similar
approach for a Silverlight implementation because it doesn't really do
any heavy 3D stuff, just resizing and moving the images (no rotating,
which is one of the more processor-intensive tasks).

The issue is when you try to blow these things up to an HD resolution -
the framerate would be low and the lack of anisotropic filtering may be
distracting on a big screen. Having said that, if it's decided that
real (hardware accelerated) 3D is overkill for this UI then I'll
definitely be looking that this kind of approach.

Thanks

What version of SS/SC ?
SS 6.5.4 on the NAS (not PC)

I presume you have a router/modem and it has IP 192.168.1.1
It is a wireless modem / router with IP address 192.168.2.1 and is
connected to the PC via Ethernet.

Can you describe the toplogy of the network (e.g. Router, WAP,
wired/wireless SB, what is connected to PC wired interface ? what is
connected to PC wireless interface ?)
PC is ethernet connected to the router, as is the NAS. Squeezeboxes and
a laptop connect wirelessly. I use WPA security, SB3s are wireless and
have worked fine in the past. I can play music recorded onto the NAS.

Your PC has two principal network interfaces (LAN3 and Wireless) - do
you have ICS enabled ?
Sorry, what is ICS ?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC Without SqueezeCentre Running.

2008-04-07 Thread hacker

Sorry if this question has been posted before, but I only recently added
the Squeezebox 3 to my collection of Wireless radio's. So far, I have
not found a way to get the Alarm on my Squeezebox 3 to wake me with a
BBC station that uses the Real format when my PC is switched off and no
SqueezeCentre running, including pasting the stream into my
SqueezeNetwork page favourites, Is this possible to impliment?. Other
than this I find it a lovely piece of kit, my only grouse so far is
that the handbook is pretty useless for a newbie to the platform like
me, and as far as I can see, there is no memory preset feature for
quick access to stations via the number buttons.

ICS makes your PC a router - if you have devices connected to both LAN
interface on the PC, then it is usually needed.

There was a DNS problem with SS in 6.5.x (can't remember which
version). To test if it is this problem - just stop and restart SS -
make sure the NAS is not rebooted or restarted. Then test.

If the problem is still there - compare the NAS network config against
your PC's - Gateway IP address, DNS address and subnetwork mask should
all be the same as the PCs.

2008-04-07 Thread oyersoy2

I will have to correct myself. I thought that I successfully tested
that squeezecenter started correctly after a reboot, but either I have
forgotten that test, or else something has changed. Anyway, it doesn't
start automatically now, I have to disable/enable the extension to get
it to start. Could it be that the startup code is being run before the
partition has been mounted?

About copying the files: Wouldn't it be enough to ensure that
/usr/local/www/ext/slimserver exists, and then run everything from
/mnt/.../slimnas/usr/www? I just can't see the point of copying the
files to /usr/local/www and then not using them...

I used the following command:

Yeah, I've got plans. Lots of plans.

Actually, I really want to find some time to do this, but I just moved
into a new house, and well, it's been eating all my time. Only one
more room to unpack though, so maybe soon.

I've also been hoping to hear about somebody else who got a plugin
working with the Controller menus. Didn't really want to pioneer
things there. I haven't seen any that do that yet, not that I've done
any sort of extensive search.

Ive also noticed that if you have the option to power up the players

Well, that's what I meant, but I'll take that as an enhancement
request. The main issue becomes how complex do you want the interface
to become (too many options is bad). Since the Synchronizer always
does something to every single player, it just seemed easier to power
them all on. You don't really say sync this group and power that
group on, but you sync everything to something else (or to nothing
else). But if I can figure out a good way, I'll do it. As an aside, I
use the Powersave plugin, which will turn the other players off 15
minutes later, so it doesn't really bother me. Joe Bob says Check it
out...

 Great plugin by the way.

Thanks.

That's a quirk of how shuffle works in SC. The current song is always
kept as the first song, and the rest are shuffled. The alarm loads the
playlist, then shuffles so the first song saved in the playlist will
always come up as current before the shuffle.

Michael, I finally got a chance to try another install. I decided to

a USB drive. as per your response to my last post a few weeks ago, i
used the default user accounts, and moved version 99 of slimnas, the
install file and squeezecenter nocpan.tgz into the slimnas directory on
the freenas.

A couple of things, after the install was completed the squeezecenter
directory was created but was left empty. etc, usr, and var directories
were created in the slimnas folder. I tried uncompressing the SC.tgz on
another workstation and then moving the files over into the
squeezecenter folder but that did not work either.

So as I sit now, I do not see any perl process's in my process list.
there is no SC log files in the maintanence window, and obviously SC
does not start.

Is there any suggestions you might have regarding where I can start
debugging this issue. I must be doing something either during the
slimnas install?

thanks for your time.
