Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SvrPowerControl problem

2009-04-04 Thread Phil Meyer
Care to share with us your opinion of Britain's National Health system?

Better than some countries, but not many ;-) It's getting worse all the time,
as the population ages. But I think it's worse because we keep letting in
migrants who come for the freebies. So the system is stretched.

My whole family has been in an uproar this past week when it was
looking like my mother had inadvertently canceled their private health
insurance just at the moment when my father had a stroke.

I'm sorry to hear that :-( Hope everything works out okay for your family in
the end.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - fails on Slimp3

2009-04-04 Thread bpa

What does this tell us? Does this point us towards a better solution?

Not sure except SlimMP3 is treated special.

In the logs there is a buffer threshold is shown to be 65535. I odn't
have a SlimMP3 but I have tried using a bufferThreshold routine) to get
buffer this low and I cannot.

There are two possibilities.

1. AlienBBC timing has too long a startup for SlIMP3
2. The 65535 threshold is somehow blocking with flow control in the
mplayer-lame chain. Perhaps socketwrapper is dying or killing off the
chain (it does that if no data movement).

This could be tested if you run SC from a command prompt window and
player.source set to DEBUG - this will generate and show message from
socketwrapper.

Otherwise I think only a developer with slimp3 can investigate further.
I think user awy might be one to ask as he also was responsible for the
buffer threshold stuff. The issues is probably no noticed on non
Windows platforms since bit rate limiting works and/or no
socketwrapper.

Ok, thanks a million for all your help. Was great to have such instant
responses and things to try.

I will try the startup from the command line. I just open a command
window in the SC root directory and then run the .exe? I don't need any
command line parameters? I then just set the debug level and the
socketwrapper debug will come in the command line window or will it get
written to the log file that I can get via the web interface?

I think you will need to change directory to the SC server first and
then run squeezecenter.exe

Make sure you change the command window size (use menu from icon in top
left hand corner of command window) to something like 300 wide and 3000
long - that way you will save a lot of message.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat - Unrate Album

2009-04-04 Thread Juliozaffo

Sometimes in my infinite stupidity I accidentally give an album a rating
I didn't intend to. The only way I have found to correct this is to
unrate each track on the album. Is there an easier way to unrate or
adjust the rating on an entire album? If not, may I suggest using the
same method that is used to rate the album? Once an album is rated,
just put the same rating buttons above the tracks and if I choose a
different rating it would override the track ratings already
established.

Thanks for the great plugin Erland.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Find Cover Art - When does it update?

2009-04-04 Thread bpa

I think you have a number of issues which needs to be corrected.

There are 2 parts to getting art displayed.
1. Ensuring art is in a location and named in a manner that SC
expects.
2. Ensuring the displaying devices displays the up to date art and not
a cached image (and the missing art image is also a cached image)

I think your main problem is point 1 while you have been dealing with
point 2.

The following are some rules about Artwork.
* The only way to be sure SC database knowledge of cover art is really
up to date is to do a Wipe and Rescan. Addition of artwork
incrementally and then browsing to a folder will ensure the artwork is
added to the database but is not always reliable at getting the new
image displayed.
*Artwork embedded in a track is always used.
* If the settings in SC WebUI Settings/Advanced/Formatting as Artwork
and Artwork Folder are blank then SC will check for the files names
below in the folder where SC finds a track. The artwork in the folder
will then be associated with all the tracks in the folder. For full
size artwork the search order is
1. cover.jpg, cover.gif,
2. folder.jpg, folder.gif,
3. album.jpg, album.gif,
4. thumb.jpg, thumb.gif,
5. albumartsmall.jpg, albumartsmall.gif
Some variations of upper and lower case but not mixed (e.g. jpg or JPG
but not Jpg ) are supported but best practice is always use lower
case.

* If the settings in SC WebUI Settings/Advanced/Formatting as Artwork
is *not* blank (i.e. a patterns has been defined such as
%ARTIST-ALBUM.jpg) - then (I think not 100% sure) SC will first look in
the Art Folder for pattern matched filenames, if no success then in
track directory for pattern matched file name and then failing that the
usual cover names.

In your setup I think you have asked FindArt to save artwork in a
special folder. I intended this option was intended for use where the
Music folder is write protected such that SC cannot write and so to
save art another folder is needed. Theintention was rhat the user
could then copy and rname the file afterward to its final destination.

As FindArt can save multiple art files in this directory a unique name
is generated. The filename are generated from some of the album details
and a counter - FindArt does *not* use SC's Artwork setting to create
the name nor does FinaArt use SC's Artwork Folder setting as the
destination folder . Temporary files have name with random letters but
these should be deleted unless there was an error which prevent it being
renamed to a recognisable file name. Since you have selected to save
cover files - the temporary files and the saved cover files are all in
the same directory.

Since you have single tracks in folders you would be best embedding the
art in the track. An alternative would be to define a Artwork pattern
which SC can use to derive the cover art filename from the track file
folder name or tags in the track

It will probably be helpful to read the Wiki entry even though it is a
bit out of date - http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Album_Artwork

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SB Boom - Spoiled Grandma mode (multiple screensavers)

2009-04-04 Thread epoch1970

I have now a Boom on my own again, that's great.
Having learnt to appreciate SaverSwitcher on my SB3 (alternating analog
VU and now playing.)
I want to use it on the Boom to alternate Date and Now Playing. I have
a tendency to let the alarms play for too long, so a regular reminder
of the current time will help.

I also want to use the knob for volume at all times, and I can get this
from ContextMenu. I like very much the ability to navigate, do a long
press on the knob, see what's playing and rotate for volume, then press
again and get back to my original position in the navigation history.
The Boom has a small screen, I prefer saving potentially long treks
(wait for scrolling to kick-in to see the full item name) in the menu
hierarchy.

There is an issue when using both, though:
- SaverSwitcher offers Jump to Now Playing. So when it kicks in, I
lose my position in the menu hierarchy when I press the knob a second
time to get out of Grandma mode.
- I hacked the plugin to allow screensaver, which was aliased to
playlist. In this case, I do not lose my position in the menu when I
come out of Grandma mode. But I need to press the knob as many times as
SaverSwitcher did alternate between Date and Now Playing.

Another minor issue is that entering Grandma mode now displays either
now playing or the current date, an info that has little relation
with music volume.

I like the idea of alternating Date and Now playing on the Boom. Is it
possible to do this in conjunction with Grandma mode ?
(I'm asking because I know anything is possible, here... I love very
much my setup as it is, anyway.)

First off make sure you get down to basics. Plug your SB and your NAS
into the same router with ethernet. This will eliminate any networking
issues. As you stated you must have a fixed IP address for the NAS
(which would mean SC too).

Not sure where the particular [x] is that you are referring to. Once I
rate the album the only [x] I have is by the current playing track or

Long press going to Date and Time: maybe the contextmenu activate
