2. On iPod, touch Block Shutdown/Suspend etc.
3. On iPod, (forward) to

4. On WebUI it should still show "Block Shutdown/Suspend etc.", click

On my system it appears to loop with display of "Bad Action:setblock

Re showing up on iPeng: that isn't new with this version. Jörg, clever
chap that he is, has been supporting everything that can show up on the
SBR's extras menu in iPeng for a while now. PeterW's PowerCenter plugin
works great with iPeng too. I love the fact that I can turn lights on
and off all over the house with my iPhone+iPeng.

Re Blocks surviving shutdown & restart: The only block that would
survive a system restart would be a blockfile on a windows machine:
C:\Windows\temp\spc-block. All the other blocks are "volatile" and
will disappear upon system restart, no matter from whence it is
initiated.

Re "Clear Block" being unclear: do you feel differently about this now
that you know that blocks are "volatile"? I'm conscious of the fact
that a lot of the syntax displayed by SrvrPowerCtrl is pretty mangled.
If anyone wants to go through and do a thorough re-write of the
strings.txt file, please be my guest. Feel free to post a new version
of strings.txt to this thread. Probably best if you zip it and attach
it to a post.

Re confused the plugin: Confused it how? What did you see? It really
ought to be able to handle two block or unblock requests in a row just
fine.

The "soft-block" mechanism (i.e. a "memory block" kept by the plugin,
vs. a block-file) accommodates a stack 'o blocks. Multiple blocks can
be set by different users using the CLI. Picking "Clear Block" from
the web menu will clear just the top 'o the stack of blocks. You might
have to run "Clear Block" via the web UI several times in order to clear
all the blocks.

Also: it is possible to set a block from the CLI that is unclearable
from the web UI. The full syntax for setting a block from the CLI is:

[ srvrpowerctrl setblock reason_for_blocking block_owner_name ]

If, when setting a block via the CLI, you use "viacli" as the
block_owner_name, this becomes, in a sense, an anonymous block that can
be cleared by anyone. This is how the web UI does it. If one uses a
block_owner name other than "viacli", SrvrPowerCtrl returns a randomly
generated "blockcode" which must be used to clear the block. E.G.:

[ srvrpowerctrl setblock Because_I_say_so Fernando ]

..returns:

srvrpowerctrl setblock Because_I_say_so Fernando 901557

To clear this block, you would have to request, via the CLI:

[ srvrpowerctrl clearblock 901557 Fernando ]

SrvrPowerCtrl returns:

srvrpowerctrl clearblock 901557 Fernando 0

The "0" indicates that there are no more blocks to clear. If there are
more blocks on the "stack", SrvrPowerCtrl returns the number of
remaining blocks. If there is an error clearing the block (wrong
block_code or wrong block_owner) then SrvrPowerCtrl return -1.

Yes I'm on XP, sorry I forgot to add that last time. I've played
around with a few filters and kind of get it although I couldn't get
the bit rate one to work right. I thought I could put greater than or
less than 400kbs and either get flac or mp3 but it didn't seem to work
as I got all kinds of bit rates lower and higher than I put in. I'll
have to play around more with it. Thanks for the pointers. Maybe we
can get some others to post ideas they have made for filters.

Just throwing it out there that there's a new open source Last.fm type

Goedon, you've done it again ! Great addition, looks good,
understandable menu and works as advertised, also shows up under Extras
on iPeng 1.1 on my iPod Touch which means that I can shutdown / restart
/ suspend the server from the iPod.
The "Block Shutdown/Suspend/etc." menu item is a good addition. Maybe
the "Clear Block" could be better explained, such as
"Shutdown/Suspend/etc. Blocked, Clear ?". Does it reset on a non Server
Power Control induced shutdown and restart ?

Yes thats the correct log. Could you set player.source logging to debug

If you have a windows system (SC and MIP on the same system nad
accessing the same mip database), it should be ok, that you setup the
filters in the gui. then they are stored in the mip database and you
are able to select them in SC.

This should probably also work with a linux pc when the gui is working.
If you have a NAS, you have to perform a little trick the enable the
filters, since you can set up them only via the gui which is usually
not working on the NAS.

It's working for me. Could you:

1). Change the Settings->Advanced->Logging->SrvrPowerCtrl level to
INFO.
2). Dial down the idle time to 5 minutes.
3). Reboot your server.

Observe what happens. Does the shutdown work now? Check the
squeezecenter server log. What do the SrvrPowerCtrl entries say?

I did make a change (other than making sure 'Include menu options on

'Monitor Idle Players?' is ticked and 'Action to take after idle time'

Hi NR,

some things depend on your system. recipes seem to work only on windows
systems. I have the Qnap 439 which is linux based. Nevertheless, i have
also installed the GUI on my windows PC. There i scan the music and
archive the fingerprints, since it is faster than on the NAS. I also
defined filters on the GUI and copied the database to the NAS. Then the
filters are also available there, since they can only be defined on the
GUI.

For my filters, it is essential to use also trackstat and custom scan
plugin.

I have rated all my titles with trackstat and custom scan transfers the
ratings and last played information to the mip database.

One of my filters selects only titles with more or equal 3 stars and
that are not played within the last three days. This works well, if you
select the filter via musicip or spicefly plugin.

In the recipes, you could do even more. Regarding the ratings, you
could define a ratio between 5,4 and three star ratings for instance
(this recipe is called Use Ratings). Nevertheless, this recipe is
probably not usefull for spicefly, since it takes only one song out of
the mip playlist.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Questions about Spicefly and MusicIP

2009-04-18 Thread Nonreality

I'm trying to make use of some of the more advanced features of Spicefly
but having some problems finding more in depth info. I'd like to know
how filters work. Do you make them in the musicip GUI and if so where
do you save them so SC can see them? Once you use a filter does
Musicip and SF then just use the results for mixes? Some filter
examples would really help.
Recipe's seem like filters, are they? Can you add more? If so how do
you do this?

Thanks for any help on this,

Would you be willing to take a closer look? I believe that
/usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins should be just a symlink to
/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins.

On my system:

# ls /usr/share/squeezecenter/P* -l
lists:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2009-04-11 11:46
/usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins -> /var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins

Fletch, who wrote the .deb and .rpm install routines can correct me if
I'm wrong here.

Are you upgrading using apt, or a downloaded deb file? Or are you
updating the code using svn? And yes, the location changed with the
7.0 release. So, without a clean install, your user plugins location
may be "grandfathered" in.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput plugin + ReadyNAS

2009-04-18 Thread bpa

WaveInput only works on the PC that is running SC.

If SC is running on your ReadyNAS - then you need to use something like
WME,icecast or VLC to send your PC audio as a http stream.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: MLB Gameday Plugin 0.0.1 -- alpha testers wanted

2009-04-18 Thread jojopuppyfish

I had this plugin working last year and its way better than going to MLB
website.
But I want to go OT a little.
I am a Cubs fan and noticed throughout the season that the feed really
lacked in quality.
When the playoffs came, I was able to pump through WGN and another
website that used AM Stereo (I think WGIL)and the results were
stunning.
So I sent an email to the engineer at WGN complaining about the MLB
sound feed.
He replied that MLB is simple: WGN and all other stations send their
feed.get this.through a phone line.because its easy for
MLB.
The engineer said I was the first to complain about this.
It truly is horrible quality.the plugin is very convenient.but
until they stop piping the broadcast through telephone wire, its going
to stay bad.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SrvrPowerCtrl wakeup time

2009-04-18 Thread rickwookie

Regarding this announcement:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=416251#post416251
I've reverted back to the default script and used sudo
/usr/bin/scwakeup.sh %l

Just a small point, the helps at
plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/html/debian-help.html and
plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/html/readme.txt refer to the Debian and Ubuntu
and like distros as having a plugin path of
/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl. On my Ubuntu Server
install (9.04 now) it's /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtr.
Maybe that's a remnant of an install that's been constantly upgraded
from the SlimServer 6.x days.

Users should probably check theirs by looking for 'Plugin Folders' at
the bottom of the 'Information' tab in 'Settings'.

2009-04-18 Thread rickwookie

gharris999;416175 Wrote:

It's an onboard NIC using the via_rhine driver

Code:

$ lsmod|grep rhine
  via_rhine 31240 0
  mii13440 1 via_rhine

If I do sudo pm-suspend then it works and I can WOL and it comes back
up in a second or two. If I then issue sudo pm-suspend again, it sleeps
fine, but only a keyboard (if I have it plugged in) or a power button
press will wake it. Not WOL. I've googled so much on this issue my
fingers are sore. Loads of results suggesting how to make WOL work, but
none for when it works from S3 once, but not again.

gharris999;416175 Wrote:

It's a bit of a head f*&k to me. It seems to make a difference if you
use single ' or double quotes ", if the 'if' uses [[ ]] or [ ], or if
you use back quote ` (to execute a command).

Code:

  $ if [[ "+0100" =~ "\+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsWest
  $ if [[ "" =~ "\+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsWest
  $ if [[ "-0100" =~ "\+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsWest
  $ if [[ "+0100" =~ "+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsEast
  $ if [[ "" =~ "+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsWest
  $ if [[ "-0100" =~ "+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsWest
  $ if [[ "\+0100" =~ "\+" ]]; then echo "IsEast"; else echo "IsWest"; fi
  IsEast

So it seams as though the backslash \ is just another character to
match and no an escape character in this case, and that the plus +
doesn't need escaping.

Which plugin?
Is "radios" completely empty?
Do you get an error message?
Have you set your SqueezeNetwork credentials (in SqueezeCenter:
Settings->SqueezeNetwork)?
