Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-05-20 Thread pippin

rme;424921 Wrote:

Is there a way to submit Wake On LAN thru internet (when not connected
via wifi?). I have a server and a dyndns redirecting url that goes to
my server setup in ipeng 1.1. it would be great if I could designate
the port that the magic packet is sent to and have that go to the url of
the server to wake it up remotely.

Currently iPeng just sends a UDP broadcast for WOL. Would it make sense
to just send the packet also to the active server plus maybe to the URL
of a newly selected server? Or do you also need a different port (from
SC's)?

Also, I have been running into some issues with using Favorites:
 - Heading bar up top has Pandora://5.. and stays on that

Pandora confuses me. I can't use Pandora so I can't really comment. Yet
for iPeng 1.1 I switched from iPeng's native Favorites support to the
server supplied one that is intended for the Controller and that one
does indeed show the name of the favorites file in the headline. No way
I would have found around this, it's the expected behavior, you see the
same thing on the Controller and in the Web Interface.

 - Can't add new favorites. There is a name button but that just gives
back a cannot request non-HTTP URL URL message

What did you do to add a favorite? Is this through Pandora or the
TrackInfor menu?

 - When playing a favorite, ipeng does not go to Now Playing
 automatically.

I can see that. I'll try to test this with my Controller. For the
controller menus, the server defines what happens when you press play
and iPeng only switches to NowPlaying here if it's said to. But I don't
know if this is the issue of if there's some kind of misinterpretation
of all the undocumented stuff in the protocol on iPeng's side.

This is also true when playing Pandora.

Always?

Could you file tickets for the things above?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-05-20 Thread jahonix

What would it take to make this PlugIn remote usable?

My server is located somewhere in the basement, running flawlessly for
quite some time now. Any administration is done via
RConsole/RemoteDesktop so I don't access the machine physically.
It would be great to throw this newly bought CD in the tray of my
desktop computer (PC that is) and be able to listen to it through my
SBRs.
Either it would need to accept a remote/virtual WAV input or the PC
needs to stream the music to my SqueezeCenter, right? Is that possible?

Cheers

This plugin is only usable on the PC running SC.

For what you want to do, a totally different solution is needed
something like VLC or Windows Media Encoder to set up a http MP3/WMA
encoded stream of your PC audio - quality will suffer an encoding can
put a load on source PC. SC then treats your PC like an internet radio
station - it just plays an URL.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] old ibook - squeezeslave vs softsqueeze vs squeezeplay

2009-05-20 Thread ralphy

To use the display option, you'll need to patch SqueezeCenter, what
version are you running on the mac?

There have been a lot of changes to Squeezeslave since r25 but lets see
if we can get it running first, then worry about upgrading and the
display patch.

Do you have the following files on your system?

/usr/lib/libmad.so
/usr/lib/libFLAC.so
/usr/lib/libvorbisfile.so
/usr/lib/libvorbis.so
/usr/lib/libogg.so

I've attached a modified makefile for you to try, but it requires the
above files. If you're missing any of them we'll need to install the
related packages from your distribution.

Presumably this is something to do with the repeat function of lirc, has

Good, that's encouraging. Now a good test would be to play something
whose metadata includes non-Euro characters. If there's still an
encoding problem, you might see it with simple names like Peña, but
there's a chance that might work OK due to your OS using something like
ISO-8859-1 8-bit encoding. You're more likely to find any remaining
encoding problems with Kanji, Arabic, Korean, Sanskrit, whatever you can
find that's nothing like simple US ASCII letters. :-)

I would suggest sending to the URL of the active or newly selected
server, which may be an internally addressable LAN address (ex.
192.168.1.10) or an externally addressable internet address
(xyz.dyndns.com, etc). But you do need to allow for a port to be
specified if it is not the SC default port that WOL is sent to. Most
internet based WOL software uses either port 9 or 7 but can be changed.
That way someone can setup their WAN router to have a much higher port
to open for WOL for security reasons and then pass that WOL packet to
the broadcast ip or individual server ip in their LAN from the router
firewall. BTW, what port does a SB or iPeng send the WOL packet using
as a default?

Thanks

as a stopgap you can add the BBC opml feed to the SC Podcast

The access through Podscast menu items.

Alternatively I think you can add the opml URL as a Favorite.

Works fine. I figured that since you would have to forward the

Within SC - there are many places where a BBC live station can be played
but whether the URL is correct/working will depend on who is maintaining
that menu item.

1. Staff Picks More Radio which I think are SC supplied URLs.
2. Local and World - which are supplied by RadioTime
3. AlienBBC
4. BBCiPlayer plugin.

All of these sources have to track the BBC and any changes the BBC
makes to their URLs. At the moment I think Staff Picks More Radio are
out of date but should be updated shortly.

Radiotime will supply WMA URLs first - so if the user is in the UK they
will play.

If the user is outside of the UK the WMA URL will fail - in which case
if the user has AlienBBC installed - RadioTime will supply a RTSP
(RealAudio) URL as a 2nd URL in a playlist and this will then play.
It's been a while since I tested this scenario so it may have changed
but confusion arises about the playing URL as SC will show that the
first WMA URL is playing when it is actually playing the RTSP URL.

The problem is in your PC and/or network connection. Something is
blocking internet access getting the asx info (i.e. the mms url you just
played) from BBC. Using the URL direct bypasses the asx fetch and SC
passes the URL straight to SB. Since it plays OK - the problem is in the
ASX fetch by PC.

Another user found the problem was the Security s/w.
