Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan does not read ID3v2.4; Bug?
I've added back the raw MP3 tag parsing as an option in the Custom Scan 2.7.3 release. Check the new raw tag parsing checkbox in the Custom Tag scanning module and report back if it solves your problem or not. If possible, it would be great if you still could send me a file which you expect to work so I can use that in the future during testing. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67526 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SB1: Title switcher stops switching
I don't have a SB1 to test with, but could you try the latest version of Title Switcher (1.1.3) which I just released. It would be great if you also temporarily could enable debug logging on plugin.titleswitcher and let it go through switching of a track with long text and post the log so I can see how it behaves. The current implementation won't scroll on SB1, but it shouldn't stop switching. After I've got the log it might be possible to improve it assuming SB1 supports scrolling. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70919 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SB1: Title switcher stops switching
First of all, the following problem affects both of my SB1s, but not my Boom, so I suspect it is somehow related to the 40x2 text display. Music Information Screen is set to TITLESWITCHERALBUMARTIST top left, and PLAYTIME_ALWAYS top right. TITLESWITCHERALBUMARTIST is "ALBUM:5,ARTIST:10". Now whenever there is an album or artist name that is longer than a certain number of characters, the top row falls back to "Now Playing" and stays that way until I go to Settings -> Advanced -> Title Switcher and click Apply again, which restores normal operation. It seems the "certain number of characters" mentioned above is the same as the Scrolling Length in the Title Switcher settings. If I set that value to zero, or high enough so that it never waits for scrolling, the error does not occur. So for now that's a practicable workaround. [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mixer - curious behaviour
In an idle moment I tried a MusicIP Mix of a track from Van Der Graaf Generator’s Live At The Paradiso. The MusicIP mix settings in my system are quite conservative, so it wasn’t a total surprise when the next track was from the same album, and the third and fourth tracks too. At this point it had obviously hit some sort of limit and reluctantly shifted to Mars, from Holst’s The Planets, and then something from Ton Koopman’s Bach Organ Spectacular. After this interlude it was back to VDGG live before blossoming with a bunch of tracks from King Crimson, ELP, Yes, The Doors, Mike Oldfield, and quite a few songs from the HDTracks World’s Greatest Audiophile Vocal Recordings. While there are clearly some genre linkages between a number of the selections, other seemed pretty far apart – more so than generally results from a MusicIP mix. The penny dropped when I realised that what every single track had in common was that it is -a 24 bit recording-. A quick test with other 24 bit tracks confirmed this. Seeding a MusicIP mix with a 24 bit recording produces a playlist of exclusively 24-bit tracks. Clearly, MusicIP Mixer sees bit depth as the single most important criterion by far. I am reluctant to liberalise the mix parameters lest the mix become too random. Anyone know of a way to make MusicIP Mixer “bit-depth blind”? -- Peter314 Peter314's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14028 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70915 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Solved: hibernation problem on the DNS-323
Heh. I'm not an expert, but I believe that if the traffic is unicast or broadcast, there can only be one socket receiving the traffic. On BSD (a mac) I have played with divert sockets (Net:: Divert on CPAN), but this doesn't exist on linux AFAIK. That's a slick trick to insert random curse words in the web pages fetched by an innocent browser ... Divert sockets are a kind of raw sockets. So perhaps tcpdump/libpcap can help ? Is there a firewall on this machine ? If so, I'd give a try to something like 'Net::Pcap::Easy' (http://search.cpan.org/~jettero/Net-Pcap-Easy-1.4000/Easy.pod), and send the kill signal in the callback. Yes and No. After digging into the code a bit more I'm surprised it works at all. I know there's several years of cruft in there, but WOW is it ugly. I pretty much gave up on deciphering the tangled web of global variables and other oddities. Instead I wrote a separate PERL module for interacting with the Sirius US and CA sites that does everything except provide the UI bits. I'm now trying to shoehorn that back into Greg's plugin since I don't really want to deal with the UI. I need to refactor a few things to be asynchronous and add better error handling before I'd want to turn it loose on anyone else. So yes there is news, but I'm a little slower than I expected because I didn't anticipate just throwing in the towel and rewriting a large portion of it :) If I were to continue down the path of rewriting the whole thing, I'd probably just use OPML like the "official" plugin and clone its functionality and appearance.I wonder if there'd be a negative response from Logitech though for making something that looks exactly like their plugin, but works for both US/CA and high/low bitrate streams? That's probably the easiest option, but I'll try to work with Greg's plugin because some people like the added functionality it has. But even if the kill command would have the advantage of having no delay at all, there would be a technical problem to solve: it would be easy to freeze the server by using the command "kill -STOP pid" with the SrvrPowerControl plugin, but how could you detect a client activity to resume it? With kill, even if the process is sleeping the port 3483 is still bound to it, preventing any other process to listen to the same port. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question on Trackstat and iTunes integration
Okay, so here's what I did, let me know if this will hopefully work. I moved my actual iTunes library data (the entire Music/iTunes folder) over to the WHS network share. I then deleted it from the Mac and started up iTunes while holding down the option key. I pointed iTunes to the library over on the network share. This all worked! Then I installed the iTunes updater plugin and reconfigured Squeezebox Server to use iTunes and iTunes updater. I pointed it to the Music Library.XML file on the network share. So now my Mac and the WHS have access to the same library data. The only source of confusion for me is whether the files the Mac uses and the files the WHS/Windows instances use are the same. I believe Mac uses the Library.XML file and Windows tries to use the iTunes Music Library.XML file and I'm not sure if the two files will really stay in sync. -- jmpage2 jmpage2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68101 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I haven't the technical know how to play around with things so I've left as is for fear of breaking it further (however I have followed the same instructions on changing file types in "BBC iPlayer" and "File Types" settings). It seems that somehow the pathing is okay. In the library file all of the paths are referred to as \volume1\music\ but yet somehow after configuring the WHS squeeze to point to this XML and to point to the actual directory the music is in it seems to be working since all of my iTunes playlists are now showing up and are working. You are right about iTunes Update, it strongly recommends against using it in active mode if Squeezebox is running as a service on a Windows machine. I also notice that without Trackstat plugin installed I am no longer seeing the star ratings for my tracks on iPeng, so I guess I'm pretty sunk on being able to update track ratings between Squeeze and iTunes easily. -- jmpage2 jmpage2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68101 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Bonjour/Zeroconf plugin for SBS 7.4 ?
It took some doing, but AndyG has finally disclosed why Zeroconf/bonjour was gone from SBS 7.4 (too big/awkward for Touch), and that the feature can move to a plugin. Good. On CPAN there is Net::RendezVous which can do publishing. There is a connector with Avahi-daemon and mdns, theoretically the plugin could register dynamically the service on OS X and on Linux. Slimdevices has registered 2 services ( http://dns-sd.org/ServiceTypes.html ) -- I wonder if there wasn't a 3rd one published. Bringing back the functionality to OS X users and porting it to linux doesn't seem too difficult, from here. However, I personally still lack the understanding of how a plugin works. (Before someone asks: to me, the obsolete wiki pages are no help at all.) Many thanks for your thorough efforts to help pin-down the problem, bpa. The BBC streams that don't work are rtmp-Flash/AAC (= most Listen Again streams). The BBC streams that do work are http-WMA (= live streams and World Service Listen Again). I can't recall coming across any other combinations, but half-remember trying rtmp-Flash/MP3 and it not working. That shows faad.exe is OK. It looks like your problem is not caused by the "usual" sources. Since the "illstreet48.pls" also fails - it indicates the problem is in the SC transcoding which involves faad.exe but it is not clear why it is failing. So it is necessary to get some more detailed log messages to see what is happening when trying to play. Can you do the following. 1. WebUI Settings/Advanced/Logging set player.source to DEBUG and click Apply. 2. Using WebUI Tune-in - try to play http://www.somafm.com/illstreet48.pls 3. Wait 1 minute after clicking "play" 4. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer 0.9 - with UK and Non UK Support
Looking at the file - the "Childrens" entry was not created properly it is missing the "Parser" entry but Children 2 & 3 are correct and should work. Look at the red text on the far right (use scroll bar to see rightmost text) Code: http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/categories/childrens/radio/list"; icon="html/images/favorites.png" text="Childrens" /> http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/categories/childrens/radio/list"; icon="html/images/radio.png" parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayerExtra::ExtraXMLParser" text="Childrens 2" /> http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/categories/childrens/radio/list"; icon="html/images/radio.png" parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayerExtra::ExtraXMLParser" text="Childrens 3" /> SB remembers when URLs are fetched and also what was the result so that if yiou used "Childrens" entry because Parser was missing, no entries would be displayed. Now if you try Children 2 immediately afterward trying Chrildren, SBS would note the URL being used is the same and so it would return the failed result and so save time and network comms. The cache entry will expire after about 5 mins so if you try Children 2 say 30 mins later - then the correct Parser will be used and you will get a good result. Furthermore if you then test Children immediately after a successful Children 2 - it too will work because of caching. This can get very confusing for users. When I test - I have to delete the SB directory Cache/FileCache very often to make sure caching is not giving me false results. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67098 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

For example when I tried http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/categories/childrens/radio/list the entries give lists of programmes, but when choosing one of these programmes, there is no iplayer icon to be seen and no chance to play it. My favorites.opml is attached for reference as a text file - Childrens / Childrens 2 / Childrens 3 do not work. +---+ |Filename: favorites.opml.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8609| +---+ -- MunichMelly System Info Squeezebox Duet (receiver firmware 62) Squeezecenter v7.3.3 on QNAP 209 pro (SSOTS v3.15) or Vista laptop BBC iPlayer (v0.9f) - laptop o.k., but most streams don't play on QNAP BBC iPlayer Extras (v0.3) MunichMelly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33549 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67098 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

In August when www.npr.org was revamped, the Windows Media support was supposed to be dropped because of lack of use. The thin.npr.org site was designed to be suitable for mobile devices and visually impaired (i.e. user who use screen magnifiers and screen readers). The thin.npr.org site also uniquely provides access to program segments in WMA unlike the www.npr.org which uses Flash/AAC. WMA meant that playlists could be generated for SB which is why the thin site is important to the plugin. So when contacting NPR about thin.npr.org - mention in the same sentence something like "the site for visually impaired" rather than SB player as the visually impaired will be a minority and hence "lack of use" (i.e. low user numbers) is to be expected compared to www.npr.org usage. At the time of writing of the plugin the main npr.org site only provided Flash/AAC access and mobile device could not play it so thin.npr.org was also popular with mobile users as it provided WMA streams. Also at the time SB could not play Flash/AAC streams. This restriction wrt Flash/AAC is changing and so NPR may be trying to cut costs under the "revamp" heading. > > Regarding podcasts, as we discussed at > http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70611 both SB and the > audio source/server should support pausing/resuming, seeking and proper > playlist management, that will be great. SB currently supports pause/stop and FFW/REW when playing BBC podcasts so the problem is not with SB. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70836 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
