Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-14 Thread Smortions

Hi, please confirm that this plugin definitely works in OSX, as I don't
seem to be able to get it working :-(

Strangely I went to the Plugins page in SqueezeServer and pasted the
plugin URL into the box, hit apply, etc., however, when SqueezeServer
restarted and I went to that page it looked completely different, in
terms of the layout, and the box to paste plugin URLs had disappeared!
Odd!!

Any ideas?

On my QNAP TS-329 I used a terminal connection to get the helper app

To do this you have to enable ssh on your QNAP from the admin pages.
Then use putty or a similiar program for your terminal connections. I
also used WinSCP for easier file transfers.

To get it running i did the following:
1. Installed the latest version of the plugin.
2. Located the install dir using this terminal command: find / -name
spotifyd.
3. Replaced the spotifyd binary in the found location with the
alternative one.
4. Located libFLAC.so.8 since spotifyd couldn't find it (i guess
because of non standard paths on the QNAP or something like that) and
made a symlink to it in the same directory as spotifyd.

Good luck.

2010-07-14 Thread noguru

Everything about this plug-in is superb, just one minor frustration.
Have just invested in a controller to go with my boom. I want to use
this to provide an alternative source for playing either with
headphones or via aux socket through a pace DAB radio. This works
perfectly with music stored on the PC and with BBCiplayer but not with
Spotify plug-in.

I have seen a passing mention of this earlier in the thread. Is there
an insurmountable technical reason why Spotify doesn't play on
controller?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Using multiple libraries - I'm Lost in technical possibilities

2010-07-14 Thread Mars Warrior

We bought a Touch this weekend and out-of-the-box everything is working
very well in combination with a WHS server running 7.5.1 and three
remotes: the standard remote, the Controller and iPeng..

However, after the first few hours, we wanted more!
The music on the server is organized in different main folders for
different music so everybody can maintain it's own music...

ie:
\\server\Music\MusicA
\\server\Music\MusicB
etc.

Now, all I want to accomplish is that I can dynamically choose the
library, and from that point on, all selections, browsing, random play
etc. is using the selected library.

So I tried to use the Multi-library (and custom browse) add-in to
create two libraries for MusicA and MusicB folder.
Using the web-interface, I can see that both libraries contain songs.
I also managed to have them listed in the menu's on both the Controller
/ Touch and iPeng.

So the configuration looks like this:

ie:
\\server\Music\MusicA --- Library MusicA in menu Choose Library
\\server\Music\MusicB --- Library MusicB in menu Choose Library
etc.

...but for some reason, I'm still seeing the complete Music folder
after I select one of the libraries. Also it's not clear to me what the
default iPeng buttons for Artist, Album etc. do in this case: I would
expect them to use the selected library, but I get the idea they
don't...

After reading the specific Wiki's about Multi-Library, Custom-Browse,
Custom-Skip and examples (Kids room) I'm completely lost in *technical
possibilities*, while searching for a *functional solution* for this
simple problem.

I hope someone can help me with setting up this configuration!

Since this is not the standard Mplayer - it is not installed where the

an mplayer is installed - it does not verify location or version.

I don't have an OSX system so I can only make gueeses as to get it
 working.

You have a choice - either
 1. Uninstall current mplayer and then install an official (and probably
older) build of mplayer. However the mplayer developers were very bad at
building OSX builds so this may be difficult. This may be an alternative
 site http://haque.net/software/mplayer/mplayerosx/builds/
 2. Change the realmplayer.sh file to look for the mplayer executable on
 your system.

I suggest doing 2 since the mplayer you have seems to be able to play
 RealAudio from a Terminal window.

First - determine the full path of the mplayer executable (not the
folder) - In a Terminal window you could try the following commands
 (these are guesses).
 which mplayer
 or
 where mplayer

Bpa, I am having the same problem as the OP on a Mac mini using OSX
10.6 with an Intel processor. The only difference is that I installed
the older version of mplayer that you recommended. It is installed in
the path expected by realplayer.sh for an Intel CPU, namely: i386
processor
/Applications/MPlayer
OSX.app/Contents/Resources/External_Binaries/mplayer.app/Contents/MacOS/mplayer

The playreal plugin settings show mplayer to be installed and the
correct file types are activated, but when I try to stream the PHC URL
you gave in an earlier post via Tune in URL, I get no audio. The SB3
shows as connecting although the web UI looks to be streaming normally.
The URL plays with no problem through the mplayer GUI. I have not tried
to stream the URL via a command line as you request the OP to do
because, like him, I am confused whether you mean a SBS or OSX one.
Regardless, I don't know the command structure for either method.

I agree with your assessment that playreal can't find mplayer despite,
in my case, it being exactly where it should be. I notice in the
preamble to the else/if construct that the uname is set to Darwin
which is not my user name or the name of my computer. Could this be
the problem?

Anyway, in option 2 of the above quote it looks like you were going to
tell the OP how to alter realplayer.sh once you determined where his
mplayer application was located. Since mine is known, I would
appreciate your help in doing this.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-14 Thread Terje

First, I'm sorry, but I've not read through all 50+ pages here. I was
extremely happy to find out about this plugin, but I can't really get
it to work. I was running some 7.5.1 beta, but installed 7.5.1 release
now just to see if that made any difference. However, when the plugin
is active I'm mostly unable to even start SbS, it starts up, starts
MySQL and the spotifyd then spotifyd dies or quits and then the rest of
the processes follow. I am running everything as a service on Windows
2008 x64 with a limited access user account. However, if I let things
start up after a full Windows reboot it mostly succeed in starting SbS
and keep it running. So, some kind of timing issues or something there.
As for when everything is running, I do get the Spotify menu, I do get
my play lists, but I cannot get anything to play. Any idea or tips to
where to start looking?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Using multiple libraries - I'm Lost in technical possibilities

2010-07-14 Thread erland

Mars Warrior;561708 Wrote:

...but for some reason, I'm still seeing the complete Music folder

If you are talking about the Music Folder browse menu it doesn't
support the multi library concept. If configured correctly, you should
get a browse menu for each library which contains sub menus for
Artists, Albums, Genres, Years and the other menus you have
checked when configuring the library in the Multi Library plugin
interface.

To verify that the library configuration is correct, you can look in
the Multi Library web interface and see if Number of songs indication
between each library is correct.

Mars Warrior;561708 Wrote:

Also it's not clear to me what the default iPeng buttons for Artist,
Album etc. do in this case: I would expect them to use the selected

Default iPeng buttons works towards the whole library, not the sub
libraries defined in the Multi Library plugin. If I remember correctly,
I think you can configure iPeng and replace the bottom toolbar buttons
with the corresponding menus from the Multi Library plugin. This is
done by going to More and then hitting the Edit button in iPeng and
drag/drop icons to the toolbar. If I remember correctly, this is only
possible for top level Custom Browse menus. So to show the relevant
icons, you might need to goto the Custom Browse settings page and enter
the Enabled menus section and check the Show in browse and home menu
option for the relevant menus. You probably also want to adjust the
names for these menus calling them AlbumsA and AlbumsB to be able
to see the difference in iPeng when dragging them to the toolbar. The
menu names are changed in the Custom Browse settings section called
Manage menus.

However, if using iPeng I think you are going to have a problem. I
don't think it's possible to select the active library through the
iPeng interface, I never got around to implement that. You will have to
configure one toolbar icon to work towards MusicA Albums and another one
to works towards MusicB Albums, due to this you will only be able to
have 2 toolbar buttons per library. An alternative to this would be to
just add the top level Libraries menu to the iPeng toolbar.

Theoretically, it would be possible to enhance the Multi Library plugin
so it was possible to select the active library through iPeng. When this
functionality exists, it's possible to manually configure Albums,
Artists, Genres, Years menus in Custom Browse so a menu only shows
music from the active library. However, as mentioned above, currently
you can only select the active library through the web interface or
through a Boom, Transporter, Classic player so I don't think this will
work for you if iPeng is your main controller.

Multi Library plugin is a bit of a hack due to limited integration
possibilities in Squeezebox Server and it currently doesn't work very
good together with the Touch, Radio and Controller due to some bugs and
limitations in the Squeezebox Server software. Logitech had some plans
to implement support for multiple libraries in the core product, so
until they give us some more information about these plans I'm not sure
it's worth adding more features to the current Multi Library plugin.
However, if you really want the active libraries concept, give it a
try and temporarily change active library through the web interface and
let me know if you are satisfied with the functionality. If you are
satisfied with it, I can take a look if it would be possible to do some
simple addition to make it possible to select active library through
iPeng.

From the documentation, it looks like you HAVE to be running a local

Oh, and yes, I almost forgot... there are those $250.00 acoustic pillows
you can stick to your walls, or even better magic tuning dots -
and the sheer act of using them will free you of the bondage of this
dilemma. In fact I heard that if you paint your CD's green, put a MM
on the top of each speaker and stick a Brazilian carrot in your ass
while sipping ginseng tea your stereo will never sound better!
