Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-02-05 Thread supmah5

I was trying to run the official Spotify-program, but that was only made
for squeezebox radio and touch. Have now installed this third party
program and it works great. Went to Squeezebox Server, settings,
plugins, scrolled down to third party programs and there it was. Have
not installed any programs on the Squeezebox before so that's why I was
confused. Thanks for a great plugin!

Question: Are you interested in IR-over-IP?

- Yes, I'd like to have IRoIP.
- No, I don't care.

indifference_engine;608407 Wrote:
I can now reproduce your problem and I sympathise. I'm pretty sure it's
a memory issue - your SqueezeIR configuration is just too big for the
Controller to hold in its cache. There has been a report of a similar
issue on the Touch (caused by a list of radio stations being too big
 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81207. All I can
suggest is to either continue using the older version of SqueezeIR
until I can figure out a way to get round the problem (I'm not hopeful
though as the hardware is a pretty fundamental constraint), or make
your SqueezeIR config smaller (lose a lirc file).

I thought that it might be something like this...

I understand that SqueezeIR-0.93 loads the needed config data at every
startup from the server. SquezeIR-1.00 is always loading it from a the
cache file. This causes the /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/SqueezeIR.lua of
SqueezeIR-0.93 to be smaller than the one of SqueezeIR-1.00, because
SqueezeIR-1.00 stores also the lirc data to this file.

I do not know how the config data is loaded exactly. But if the data
was first cached to have it on the controller and then read to the
memory for using it, the problem would be reading this large file to
memory. Causing the SBC to crash even after the first loading of the
config (just as it does in my case).

If all my assumptions are right, the goal would be to get a smaller
cache file.

Now my idea: How about copying all necessary files to the controller
(SqueezeIR.xml, lirc-files, etc.) and stroring them as the files they
are on the server. You just change the location of the files without
modifying them.

Meaning there must be a directory /usr/share/applet/jive/SqueezeIR
containing these files:
/usr/share/applet/jive/SqueezeIR
|- all applet files
|- SqueezeIR.xml
|- lircA.txt
|- etc.

Starting SqueezeIR or updating it, would then load the necessary data
from these files not from the cache. The routine of loading the config
would be the same as in version 0.93. The only difference between
SqueezeIR-0.93 and SqueezeIR-1.00 would be, that the files are not
loaded from the server but from the controller's directory (see above
for their location). The /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/SqueezeIR.lua would
remain small as it is in SqueezeIR-0.93 without the lirc data. (I do
not know if the IR-o-IP or the other version changes, have their part
in the memory problem also.)

In this case I have a suggestion for improving SqueezeIR: How about an
option to always load the config from the server at startup and then
store the files as described above. When there is no server connection
the local copies of the files could be loaded. This would probably help
those ambitioned people with gigabytes of config files to prevent doing
a factory reset. Removing the files from the server would then be a
very easy way to stop the SBC from doing strange reboots. Other issues
causing the SBC to crash could be solved in this way also.

I hope these ideas help in bugfixing. I would try this on my own, but
my lua is not that good. I am just at the beginning...

OK; i found where to create the folders and copy SqueezeIR.xml on Qnap.

need to explore some more. I do have rather an odd setup with the

My next project will be to try to run Open VPN on a second router, so I

And thanks for all your hard work in producing the pluggin.

I too was able to install the Sirius App from App gallery (had to use
the account name and password from the xm/sirius INTERNET account, not
my general xmradio account. And it only added the account when I
entered my password in all CAPS. On the app settings page it does
properly show my account as being used. After installing the app, I
also stopped and restarted SbS.

So now I have the sirius app. I've enabled all my players, etc. in the
settings for the sirius app. When I go to SbS, I see the sirius app, I
can see all the channels, and when I select a channel it shows up as
now playing.

BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM: No sound. And after the timing hits about 3 to
6 seconds, it reverts back to zero (not playing). On my SbS on the
vortexbox (linux) I get no error messages. If I try it from a SbS
running on Windows 7 feeding SqueezePlay on the same machine, I do get
an error message when playing a channel: unable to play file type for
sirius://x (where x is the sirius channel number selected).

I am an XM radio (not sirius) subscriber (internet and car). Any
thoughts?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is XM radio down again?

2011-02-05 Thread garym

OK. Sirius app is installed, shows account, all players enabled for
sirius app. A little more testing:

1. Running SbS 7.5.2 on Vortexbox Appliance:
Touch - can't play, file type error
Transporter - can't play, file type error
SqueezePlay on Win7 machine - can't play, file type error

2. Connected to Mysqueezebox.com:
Touch - can't play, file type error
Transporter - can't play, file type error
SqueezePlay - can't play, file type error

3. Running SbS 7.5.3 on Win7(64) machine (default file type setup)
Touch - can't play, file type error
Transporter - can't play, file type error
SqueezePlay - CAN PLAY JUST FINE

So I can only get playing xm/sirius stations via squeezeplay when
connected to SbS on my Win7 machine (this is true whether running 7.5.2
or 7.5.3). And as another test, I fired up a second laptop, with a
different instance of SqueezePlay. If I connected that 2nd Squeezeplay
to the SbS on my Win7 machine, I can get XM to play.

If I could get things playing with either mysb.com OR my SbS Win7, I'd
assume it was some file type issue with the linux on the Vortexbox. But
the fact that I can't get playback via mysb.com seems odd. And it
doesn't seem to be a native file type issue either as I have the same
issue with Touch, Transporter, or SqueezePlay.

Any thoughts?

SiriusXM have merged their XM and Sirius streaming sites. The XMRadio
plugin is no longer needed. You can use the official Sirius app
instead.

I am able to get my XM streaming account to work on both Duet and Boom.
Perhaps the trick is to assign a username to your streaming account (not
your account management email username). Do this in manage your account
at www.siriusxm.com.

Then install the Sirius app configured with your streaming username and
password.

Not a major issue, as I can always reinstall ServerPowerControl, but it

Have just tried listening with BBC iPlayer and found that my Mac went
to sleep. I can't quite recall whether I had been able to listen in
7.5.3 at all without my Mac sleeping. It was certainly OK on 7.5.1 (I
hadn't gone to 7.5.2, went straight from 7.5.1 to 7.5.3).

Not a major issue, as I can always reinstall ServerPowerControl, but it
would be good to know if this is just a one-off glitch or a real issue.
Truthfully, I haven't extensively tested ReallyPreventStandby on my
mac-mini. Nor do I do a lot of BBC listening as I live way on the
other side of the digital divide. But I'll try testing this now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is XM radio down again?

2011-02-05 Thread paulisded

Well, this doesn't make sense (as expected).

When I log into the siriusxm website with my xm info, I get the XM
lineups as I should.

I set up the Sirius app on one of my Squeeze's with that XM login info,
but it still plays the Sirius lineup. 202 The Virus doesn't show up.

Hmmm, can't help test as I only have xmradio. Maybe because you have
both the siriusXM internet stream defaults to the sirius lineup. How
are you setting only one SB player with the xmlogin info. It looks like
on mysqueezebox.com you can only choose one account for streaming and
this account would relate to ALL your players. But again, I can't
really test thatgood luck.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-02-05 Thread pippin

What does unstable mean? Crashes?

I'm not aware of any particular 7.5.3 issues and I'm getting almost no
crash reports for the current iPeng release.

There is one issue whenever a player disconnects and immediately
reconnects to the server. Do you have issues with players repeatedly
disconnecting?

Do you use a jailbreak? There has been an issue with some Music
Controls app from Cydia.

If it's the player disconnect issue then there will be a fix in the
next release. The iPeng for iPhone release is reviewed and released by
Apple but I have to also wait for the iPad App to be ready (which for
some reason isn't in review yet even though I submitted it only a few
hours later) to put it on sale.
I need to release both Apps at the same time since there is some
kickback in there for owners of both Apps (they get playback for free)
for which you need current releases of both.

But anyway: IF this is the player disconnect issue you should somehow
try to fix that because it will also cause playback interruptions.

this is another case where I'm a bit insane. I have two laptops and
libraries. One laptop has an external drive with my main library; the
other is my new release machine. Generally, I have my boom streaming
the main library laptop, while the duet is tied to the new release one.
Obviously, I can (and do) switch back and forth as desired.

but do you have two different mysqueezebox.com accounts? Because the
siriusXm app is setup at the mysqueezebox.com level, even if running
your own SbS. For example, I have SbS running on my vortexbox
appliance, on another windows laptop at home (was there before I had
the VBA, and now just have it as backup) and on my current laptop. If
all these are on at the same time, I can choose any of these SbS
instances to stream to any of the players. But in each of these 3 SbS
instances, I have entered the same mysb.com credentials and the
siriusXM app is set up only ONCE in mysb.com, with all 3 SbS progams
seeing the same thing...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeIR Support Thread

2011-02-05 Thread chincheta0815

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79524

Question: Are you interested in IR-over-IP?

- Yes, I'd like to have IRoIP.
- No, I don't care.

chincheta0815;608495 Wrote:
I thought that it might be something like this...

I understand that SqueezeIR-0.93 loads the needed config data at every
startup from the server. SquezeIR-1.00 is always loading it from a the
 cache file. This causes the
 /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/SqueezeIR.lua of SqueezeIR-0.93 to
be smaller than the one of SqueezeIR-1.00, because SqueezeIR-1.00
stores also the lirc data to this file.

I do not know how the config data is loaded exactly. But if the data
was first cached to have it on the controller and then read to the
memory for using it, the problem would be reading this large file to
memory. Causing the SBC to crash even after the first loading of the
config (just as it does in my case).

If all my assumptions were right, the goal would be to get a smaller
 cache file.

Now my idea: How about copying all necessary files to the controller
(SqueezeIR.xml, lirc-files, etc.) and storing them as the files they
are. You just change the location of the files without modifying them.

Meaning there must be a directory /usr/share/applet/jive/SqueezeIR
 containing these files:
 /usr/share/applet/jive/SqueezeIR
 |- all applet files
 |- SqueezeIR.xml
 |- lircA.txt
 |- etc.

Starting SqueezeIR or updating it, would then load the necessary data
from these files not from the cache. The routine of loading the config
would be the same as in version 0.93. The only difference between
SqueezeIR-0.93 and SqueezeIR-1.00 would be, that the files are not
loaded from the server but from the controller's directory (see above
 for their location). The
 /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/SqueezeIR.lua would remain small as
it is in SqueezeIR-0.93 without the lirc data. (I do not know if the
IR-o-IP or the other version changes, have their part in the memory
 problem also.)

I trained my lua a little bit and changed the SqueezeIRApplet.lua the
way I suggested in my post before. Now the controller is much more
stable and accepts at least one update, reboots on purpose and loads
the config again without starting reboot cycles. Far better than
before. I will test it the next few days.

I attached the SqueezeIRApplet.lua-file. On the leftmost part of each
line I commented everything out using -- that might do some
settings-savings. The -- LOOK HERE comment marks the load file to and
from server parts. I hope you get through my mess...

The option Purge Cash won't work. Also not implemented is the idea of
loading from the server and only fall back to the local copy in case of
an emergency.

I hope this helps improving SqueezeIR.

P.S.: I dont't know if it works well on SqueezePlay-Windows due to the
file location. I used the applet's path name in the controller (see new
local variable APPLETDIR).

Hmmm, that's interesting because when I looked at the Sirius settings
in My Apps it indicated that you could have different settings at
mysqueezebox and the players. In fact, this screencap shows my setup,
and I do have mysqueezebox set to my XM account.

duh!! I get you. I didn't realize that there is a drop down menu for
which account because in my case I have only ONE account so I see the
same thing as you but just a fixed account name next to each player (no
choices). But that makes sense because I have entered ONLY one account.
Thanks for clearing that up! And this does make your initial problem
even more perplexing given that you can choose.
