The BBC iPlayer plugin isn't showing any data for shows that aired since 06:00 yesterday. Is everyone else seeing this ? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Whitebear updated version
My files are on a 1TB disk (D) in a desktop PC running XP SP3. SB and Whitebear are on that PC. The Humax PVR is connected to the PC over wired Ethernet. The top level folder is at D:\Music\flac. There are 10 folders in flac, \classical \comedy \country \classical has 26 folders (alphabetical) and so on. Please don't spend much time on this. Whilst it is a puzzle, I can't get the Humax PVR to play my flacs via Whitebear (as I said initially), since the flacs don't show up, however I configure it. For example, what happens is that if I select the folder \country, I get the sub-folders in \comedy instead of those in \country. From then on everything is fine (so I see everything in \comedy as it should be, just I get there by selecting \country). I have just done a series of 5 repeated tests. The top-level folder order fault happened 4 times, and then did not happen on the 5th test. I told myself I must be going mad, so I ran another 5 tests (starting from re-establishing the connection to Whitebear). This time the problem manifested itself 3 times, but not the other 2. I'm baffled. On other occasions I have found it is wrong every time. The most likely cause of this would seem to me to be that there is something wrong with the Humax such that it does not always show the correct folder highlighted on the screen (so it highlights folder \country when it should be highlighting folder \comedy). It would be very hard to believe there would be a transient error of this type in Whitebear, particularly if no one else has seen it happen. It's (slightly) easier to believe that a combination of different timing or sequence using the up/down cursor isn't always reflected accurately on the screen. If you do get the flac to mp3 compatibility working for the Humax I'm not going to be too surprised if there are other problems. With UPnP in foobar2000 I can see the flacs, but they do not play properly transcoded to mp3s. Someone else on another forum has said that The problem with your renderer is that it issues unusual (but valid) HTTP requests that are not supported by foo_upnp, when transcoding to mp3 (namely http range requests and HEAD requests). -- PasTim PasTim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41642 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82399 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

whitman;618759 Wrote: Maybe you're right, Jackofall, and we should direct a discussion about the quality of Spotify streams, or the lack of it, to Spotify's own GetSatisfaction forum, rather than speculate here to no particular end. I get the feeling that Spotify isn't that interested in the few. I would imagine that the bulk of Spotify subscribers are from the mp3/ipod generation, listening with a pair of £10 buds plugged into their laptop or mobile phone. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The key thing is the volume normalisation needs to be disabled. God only knows what is going on inside the client library where they apply the normalisation, whether it is dithering or not, but something is screwy with it, from a SQ point of view. I've compared their normalisation to exactly the same Ogg/Vorbis source normalised with sox and the difference is obvious. It's not just a matter of volume level. It's more of a crapshoot, the bitrate, and final quality seems to depend mostly on the source material. Comparing the 96/160/320 streams (where all 3 are available) is an interesting experience. It's always possible to tell the low res content. A sharply struck snare drum gives it away every time. In a few cases it's near impossible to tell the difference between the 160, 320 streams and lossless. But in most cases it is. The 320k VBR without normalisation is really good. Although in at least one case I tried to compare, the 320k file was 3 seconds longer (music time) than the 160k, so I doubt is was generated from the same source file. Which makes comparison a bit pointless, comparing apples and oranges. It's a shame that I cannot distribute the code (without falling foul of the Spotify TC's) that allows the streaming via SB of non-normalized content. I'm sure it would be an eye opener for many. Where available, the 320k streams without volume normalization are really good. To the point that I'd not bother to go and buy the CD. Fingers crossed that they add the option to disable normalisation via the official API sometime soon. -- JackOfAll JackOfAll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3069 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Super Date Time Stopped Updating
Removed the plugin prefs and restarted the server. New prefs got created and SDT worked again but hated the thought of re-entering all of the customized settings. So I restored the prefs file from a backup same issue. That led me to believe it was something with Weather.com. So I tried using another zip code. Still not updating. So then I went to wunderground to locate the wunderground weather station ID nearest me. Removed the zip code and plugged in the wunderground ID and viola! I can't live without this plugin. Every morning when my Boom wakes me up, the first thing I look at is the weather. My wife has even grown used to it and depends on it now. -- starfleetcommand starfleetcommand's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20604 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86406 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
