Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-07-15 Thread JJZolx

Just an FYI:

I installed the plugin and after restarting the server the plugin saw
the helper app running. But after another restart it claimed that the
helper app wasn't running. I shut down SBS and killed the spotifyd.exe
process that was still running. I then restarted the server again and a
new helper app was launched. The plugin saw that one.

Then I later tried uninstalling it. When SBS is shut down the
spotifyd.exe helper app was never shut down. It and a couple of dll's
were left behind while the rest of the plugin was removed.

Triode,

I've just seen a couple of replies to the Normalisation thread you
started some time ago on the GetSatisfaction forum:

http://getsatisfaction.com/spotify/topics/volume_normalisation?utm_content=topic_linkutm_medium=emailutm_source=reply_notification

One suggests that including audio_enable_norm:0 in the settings
file might switch the normalisation off.

A reply to that says it doesn't work but another says it does.

Any thoughts?

Generally speaking the Spotify service sometimes have connection

in US who are about to try it. So wait a while and try another track and
if it still doesn't work contact Logitech support.

You can of course choose to wait here for some from Logitech developer
to spot this thread, but I suspect they won't start any investigation
based on this thread since the support team doesn't monitor these
community forums, there are just a few Logitech developers reading
 posts sometimes.

Logitech is never going to add all the features which is in the third
party plugin, so make sure to wish for specific features which you
think is critical and is missing instead of just wishing that it
 generally is improved.

My experience is that Logitech tends to prioritize features that
 either:
 - Makes the system simpler to setup/configure to lower support costs
 or
 - Makes the system easier to maintain/support to lower
 support/maintenance costs
 or
 - Adds features which is big enough to be mentioned in the marketing
 material to increase sales

I believe none of the extra features provided by the current third
party Spotify plugin is related to any of these categories.

How does one contact the Logitech support? I have encountered several
bugs with the Spotify app I'd like to address, but I don't know how :(

John,

I'm not running windows, but imagine the Spotify session settings file
will be located at ...

Code:

  C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\spotifycache\settings

... in your case.

You need to edit the file adding the audio_enable_norm setting to it.
eg.

Before:

Code:

  {autologin_username:JackOfAll,proxy_pass:,realtime_clock_delta:0}

After:

Code:

{autologin_username:JackOfAll,proxy_pass:,realtime_clock_delta:0,audio_enable_norm:0}

Sometimes its greyed out when its scanning. Try waiting for it to
finish and then go into the menus and try to select it. Failing that
just select all your music files in the gui window and right click and
select Archive Analysis modifies file (or something like that) and it
will punch it into the files.

Also Right Click in the left window where it has Library and select new
filter, and select Match All conditions; Stored Analysis... is
missing...
This will then create a filter view that will show files that dont have
the analysis saved within them, which you may find helpful.

Cheers

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

 Hi all,

I have been having weird problems with my Vortexbox appliance +
Squeezebox Touch, and the server power control plugin.

I set it to hibernate the server after inactivity, and also at a
specified hour each night. The hibernation process works fine every
 time.

However, it seems that it's not always possible to wake the VBA
cleanly. Most times the server works when the Squeezebox Touch is
powered up, but about once a week or so, it goes into a state where it
looses network connectivity, and cannot even be pinged, even though the
power light is lit, and machine appears to be running. It's on a fixed
IP address, so there should be no problem finding it, but somehow it
cannot be seen. The only way out of this is a hard reboot.

Any ideas on how to resolve this would be welcome.

 Thanks,

NikeIf you're really talking about hibernation, then, no, I don't have much
advice for you. These sorts of vagaries are maddening. But they seem
hardware and OS dependent and have nothing to do with SrvrPowerCtrl,
per se.

If you're actually suspending (rather than hibernating) then you might
try some of the optional suspend command line quirk arguments. The
sort of symptom you describe is something I've experienced before...but
with returning from suspend, not hibernation. Adding a suspend quirk
arg to the command line has always fixed it...expect on old, no-hope
hardware that just doesn't support S3 sleep very well. See the quirks
page, available as a link from the SrvrPowerCtrl plugin help page.

Try testing your VBA's ability to suspend or hibernate and fully wake
up via WOL independently of SrvrPowerCtrl by trying the various
pm-utils from a console command line. See:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/oneiric/man8/pm-action.8.html for
documentation. (Yes, I know that VB is built on Fedora...that Ubuntu
page was just what Google popped up first.)

Are you running the latest version of SrvrPowerCtrl beta, ver.
20110601.120532?

Hum - uninstalling should happen at server restart and so the deletions
only happen then. This was to avoid this type of problem as there
should be no child processes running at this time.

If I remember correctly, Triode's plugin support syncing but not
playing different Spotify streams on different players. At least this
was the case in the beginning, might have changed now, I'm not
 completely sure.

Logitech have an explicit mechanism with Spotify to allow one account
to play on multiple devices. My plugin doesn't have that - so you can
only play one stream at a time with a single account. You can
synchoronise with both - the difference is that the Logitech support
creates a separate stream per player, my plugin creates a single stream
to the server which is then replicated to each player.

LOL. No problem. I've also verified that audio_enable_norm:1 has the
behaviour you would expect. ie. normalisation is enabled. It's a shame
they didn't at least mention this in the Changelog file for the 0.8 API

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-07-15 Thread Triode

I've just release 1.4.3 of the plugin which will be available for
download soon.

This version adds the following:
- add support to disable volume normalisation (defaults to enabled as
before)
- add support for this decade as 10s in the radio menu (not all
genres have tracks)
- fix helper app crash seen for some playlist entries

Please try and post any feedback.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WD MyBook Live NAS

2011-07-15 Thread herbjohnson

Hi gabbel,

a recent non-suppressable urge to update my MBL firmware left me with
no SBS installed anymore. Should have known … *sigh*

Anyways–thus i was given the chance to re-evaluate the issue whether
the installation of the additional mysql-packages was necessary.

Two paths were tried:
1. Using the instructions provided by the Slimdevices Wiki[1]
2. Using your instructions but trying to skip the mysql installation

Path 1 led to no good state: The Slimdevices server who was said to
have the Packages available did not have PPC Binaries ready anymore.
You may take the status message at the top of the wiki page literally:
This page needs editing. It may contain […] outdated information.
It would have been too easy …

Path 2 worked in the end but with surprising results, but see for
yourself:
First I downloaded the current DEB-Package and dpkg'd it. And there she
blowed: Unresolved dependencies. So your instructions were all perfectly
fine and I shouldn't have asked in the first place.
The rest of the night was spent firing up aptitude (Sorry, but as a
designer I have to check out every available GUI first :) ), hassling
with the Resolver who wanted to remove the partially installed SBS,
hating the resolver, selecting the mysql-server and
libmysqlclient-dev-packages (mysql-client was already installed,
presumably by MBL-default) manually for installation–et voilà–finally
having my good old (correction: freshly installed) SBS back on duty.

Pheuuuw.

One thing is clear in the end: Please leave your instructions
as-is–they are perfectly fine as long as the Slimdevices distro server
does not provide the missing PPC package anymore.

Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge with us!

[1] For the record: I am referring to the following Slimdevices wiki
page:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/DebianPackage#Instructions_for_Debian

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-07-15 Thread Fenalaar

I just bought an iPod Touch, and downloaded iPeng to control my two
Squeezebox receivers.

I'm using Triodes spotify plugin (the latest one - 1.4.3) and the
server is my IMac 27, running slimserver v7.5.5 - r32671 (also the
latest one - just downloaded).

The network is set up with fixed IPs onstationary machines, while the
Squeezeboxes are getting their IP by DHCP. Everything except the iPod
is connected via wired network and a 10/100/1000 switch.

Now, as far as I can tell at this point, iPeng works as it should - for
the most part. Accessing music from my own music library works fine.

I'm having a problem accessing my Spotify playlists. I go to Spotify on
the radio page, select playlists and get up all the lists. Whenever I
click on one of the lists, I get the Play shuffled/add all selection,
and a Loading... entry with a progress circle going on forever. If I
click the Play shuffled/add all entry, the songs in the playlist will
get added to the now playing list.

Something similar will happen if I click some of the Recent searches
- the Loading... entry with a progress circle comes up, and there it
will stay. Some other recent searches will work. (All of my playlists,
however exhibit the same problem, though).

Is there a fix for this? I'm currently downloading 7.6 beta, to see if
this will fix the problem...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-07-15 Thread rdelfin

Hello Triode,

I just got my premium account (U.S. based) and have installed and
follow the instructions to add your plugin, and when I get to the part
of clicking on settings that appears at the right of spotify v1.4.3
in the plugins page to fill in my username and password, I get the
following:

404 Not Found:
plugins/Extensions/settings/plugins/Spotify/settings/basic.html

Can you please tell me if I did something wrong or missed something?

As many have said, we all appreciate much all the work you do!
Thanks,
Rafa.

Dang - wouldn't you believe it...? The beta server fixed the problem :D

Some of the resent searches doesn't work, but if I enter the same
search again manually, it will work - probably some database gunk...

No settings - just create a Favorite (usually wavin:0 but not always
as the number is system dependent) and then play it.

no http (it is not the internet) try wavin:0 but it could be wavin:1,
wavin:2 ... depending on your system.

Is recording setup correctly as per the wiki entry
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/WaveInput_plugin#Configure_Windows_Vista_.2F_7
( ignore install instructions as they are out of date)

Have you tested with Windows accessory Recorder whether your Stereo
mix is set up correctly ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2011-07-15 Thread nikev

gharris999;640928 Wrote:
If you're really talking about hibernation, then, no, I don't have much
advice for you.

PS: have you yum updated your OS on the VBA? This is the sort of bug
that frequently gets addressed in OS updates.

I am indeed hibernating. I have tried hibernate as well as hibernate
to mysqueezebox.com but neither of these works reliably as far as
wakeup is concerned.

I will try updating the VBA to see what happens.

On a related point, could you please clarify the difference between
hibernate and hibernate top mysqueezebox.com ? I don't quite
understand which to pick. Also, there's another option lower down to
push the player to alternate servers, which offers tinysc as an option
if an SD card is installed -- how does that interact with the choices
of action on idle/eod?

Thanks,

Nike

Okay BPA, you can't say you dont have access to music services anymore
because of your geographical location :) You have access to the best
music service in the world!

I just signed up for Spotify premium and added the plugin to Squeezebox
Server. However, when I try to play anything on Spotify, I get the
below error message. What do I need to change in Squeezebox to get it
to work? Im using Squeezebox Version: 7.5.4 - r32171

I checked my Ogg Vorbis File Types:
AIFF: sox
FLAC: sox
MP3: sox/lame
Ogg Vorbis: Native

Thanks in advance! I can't wait to get this to work with premium
quality audio.
