Thanks a lot!
That solved the problem. I did unzip the old plugin to the
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins, I should have
unzipped it into (in my case) /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins
directory.

So, if I would have read
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=661291postcount=3244
correct I wouldn't have this last problem.

Now everything is all good.
Again, thanks for great help. I would donate if I know how to, I use
your plugin all the time.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse / Scan features interrupting music

2011-10-24 Thread PasTim

My Custom browse menus for custom scan items are currently behaving
well, but initial startup is very low (10 minutes or so). I am
beginning to wonder whether some recent change in custom scan may be
causing the custom scan data to be read into memory at startup, thus
obviating the need for a lot of disc reads and delays when first using
the menus.

This behaviour is OK for me. I'm much happier waiting a while at boot
time than having music interrupted when I'm listening.

I can't be sure that the CB menus are now OK, but they haven't given me
problems for some days now.

I am on the latest versions of all plugins.

Having a working 2.0.4 plugin installation on my old hardware I
mistakenly made a SB playlist made up of Spotify songs. I tried to play

Now the plugin won't work. I have tried to reinstall it several times,
replacing it with the latest plugin etc but no luck.

Server log:

Is my failing playlist in a queue/cache that is loaded when starting

doing it?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SB Boom - Triode 3party spotify help needed!

2011-10-24 Thread Triode

The first post looks like a lot of internal errors within the spotify
library - these suggest it can't contact the spotify servers. I doubt
this is something wrong with your setup and is just congestion on that
spotify server.

Can you stream Flac files ok from your server to your player without
the server bitrate setting (i.e. does your home network allow you to do
this?) If so then the problem is most likely to be the spotify server -
try restarting squeezebox server a couple of times - does it improve?
(this increases the chance of connecting to a different spotify server)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Confusion over TrackStat

2011-10-24 Thread Mick Trusler

Thanks.

An additional option would be great depending on what it would do.

I'm happy not to see them as unrated, rated at 1 is fine. What I don't
want is to see them at a rating of 6. I play albums rather than
individual tracks and so want my album ratings to gradually increase as
I listen. If everything starts at 6 it does not leave much room for
improvement.

Setting everything to 1 sounds like it should resolve my issue. Then
all my tracks can gradually increase as I listen to them. I will think
through the logic of this before I do anything and also make sure I
have a backup. Good advice.

I assume I would have to run this every time I add new music. Correct?

Thanks

If the problem is that error message, then the best fix is just delete

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MOG -- Any update on App/Plug-In

2011-10-24 Thread julio

I upgraded to 7.7 first. Then I connected to test.mysqueezebox.com
using the details Michael posted earlier:

Please note that you'll need to be using test.mysqueezebox.com. See
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/How_to_connect_your_Squeezebox_to_test.mysqueezebox.com
for details how to achieve this.

You will need to register on test.mysqueezebox.com and create a new
user name and password combo. Then, go to the server's settings page
and enter this user name and password combo on the server's
Mysqueezebox.com tab.

Once you are connected to test.mysqueezebox.com go to the app galley
and download the MOG app. Enter the details for the app and you are
good to go!

well, but initial startup is very low (10 minutes or so). I am
beginning to wonder whether some recent change in custom scan may be
causing the custom scan data to be read into memory at startup, thus
obviating the need for a lot of disc reads and delays when first using
 the menus.

It optimize the database at startup, that was introduced in one of the
latest versions. I suppose SQLite might load a lot of data into memory
when doing this, which could give the positive side effect it results
in.

I still think I need to find a solution for this because neither a
startup time of 10 minutes or slow queries is acceptable, even though
it might work as a temporary work around.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Confusion over TrackStat

2011-10-24 Thread Mick Trusler

Erland,

Thanks. I have run the sql and think it might now be doing what I want.
I will try for the next few days or so and then come back again to
confirm.

Thanks for your help and patience.

I asked another question about Album Flow and wondered if this applet
still only works as a screensaver or if it can be used for scrolling
through my albums?

Can you advise.

Thanks

Mick

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-10-24 Thread YeeeHaaa

rmedley;665138 Wrote:
Can someone please help explain this step below for me? Can seem to
figure out how to do this. I think it might be the only thing keeping
me from getting this to work. I can get previous version to show up in
plugins but it just says PLUGIN FAILED TO LOAD.

 7. Use this information and set the owner and group of the unzipped
 Spotify directory:
chown -R user Spotify (Replace user with your squeezebox user)
chgrp -R group Spotify (Replace group with your squeezebox
 group)

 Thanks!

I can give it a try, I'm no expert though.
I assume you are on a Linux box.

1. The directory must be owned by the user that runs the SQ service.
Go to a directory in your SB installation (see the information tab on
the settings page of your SB web).
Example:
cd /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/
2. Check the ownership of the directories:
ls -l

Output should be something like this:
drwxr-xr-x 11 squeezeboxserver nogroup 4096 2011-10-24 11:53 cache
drwxr-xr-x 3 squeezeboxserver nogroup 4096 2011-10-24 11:53 Plugins
drwxr-xr-x 3 squeezeboxserver nogroup 4096 2011-10-24 21:12 prefs

You now can see that in my case the owner is 'squeezeboxserver', and
group is 'nogroup', possibly the same in your installation. You should
use this info when altering the permissions on your 2.0.4 directory in
step 4.

3. Go to you plugins folder where you have extracted/copied the 2.0.4
version, possibly /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins :
cd /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins

4. Change owner and group of the Spotify directory that should reside
within the plugins directory:
sudo chown -R squeezeboxserver Spotify
sudo chgrp -R nogroup Spotify
(use user and group info from step 2)

5. Restart the SB service
sudo /etc/init.d/squeezeboxserver stop
(wait a little..)
sudo /etc/init.d/squeezeboxserver start

6. Now the plugin should be loaded. If not, the 2.0.4 plugin might be
available to tick on the plugins setting page as an inactive plugin. If
so, install it as you would install any other plugin (tick the checkbox
and apply)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SongFileViewer plugin

2011-10-24 Thread Phil Meyer
I have installed it, but can't see any txt files in my music directory.

My plugin doesn't work with Touch or Radio players yet. Watch this space.

My ultimate wish is to be able to see pdf files (i.e. liner notes)
while listening.

Very unlikely that will happen. .txt initially and image support will follow.

Yep. On my phone I quite enjoy SqueezeCommander. On the tablet I
prefer the Logitech app.

*SqueezeCommander

pros:
Very configurable
Ability to disable mysqueezebox.com
Snappy interface

cons:
Tablet view not ideal
Too easy to accidentally switch panes
All previous servers are remembered, I'd rather it just show available
ones
Track position not displayed by default
I would prefer that the back button didn't close the app

*Logitech app

pros:
Interface is very similar to my Radio
Tablet display is great

cons:
Startup a bit slow Free your music
Takes a while to connect sometimes when coming out of sleep
mysqueezebox.com error if no internet access
Slow scrolling speed (not as fast as SqueezeCommander)
I would prefer that the back button didn't close the app
Yes button on wrong side when closing

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Bandcamp, Pluggin, App, Store ?

2011-10-24 Thread Mnyb

Look here , mr herger himself made a plugin (in his spare time) for this
it's not anounced anywhere , but it exists .
I haved used it 1,5 days .

It is basic and simple but does most of what we want :) thankyou

I kindly suggest we enjoy this and wait untill after the launch of 7.7
and the usual bug rally in the aftermath of that, before suggesting any
improvements.
Remember this is a free plugin made for fun not an official function so
we have it as is.
I'm thrilled to see that Michael can still get so enthusiastic that he
makes pet project for the squeezeboxes, even if it is his work.

The preview tracks at bandcamp is 128kBps CBR , which is the intention
this is *previews of the music and artist* , sound surprisingly ok as
it seems to be nothing but lowres variants of the real albums (that you
can buy), no extra radio loudness applied .
Perfect for exploring something new via my kitchen system or boom and
dl it for later.
(Thats interesting in itself that the appalling sq of webradio is not
only due to low bitrate they usually f**k it up even more )

Works in all interfaces very good in iPeng and SqueezePad and it's also
works on logitechs own controller app (but it has no browser.
Artist page may take two attempts to load in the iPeng or Squeezepad
browser .

it also works directly on ip3k players , but I find pad apps a more
interesting option as we have cover art to catch the eye .

It also works on squeezeplay players, when you close enough to your
Touch to see the display , or when fiddling with the radio or
controller.

web-UI is the interface where shopping would work naturally, so imo he
seems to have fulfilled the user agreement, you can shop the albums and
you be linked directly to the artist page when using a browser

Plugin will exists under my apps but with an extra entry from extras
for people who don't have any my apps menu .

I thinks this app will work to the advantage of the artist and
bandcamp, when you try out on your real hifi you naturally want's
better than the preview soundquality.

My usage scenarios so far in 1,5 days of testing have been mainly at
the breakfast table with iPad Touch and powered speakers, and instead
of reading when I'm going to sleep using my iPad and my Boom and
knocking myself in the head with the pad when falling asleep, a pocket
book is softer ;)

It's available in the official repository, no need to add any custom
repository to install it, just goto Plugins tab in SBS and make sure
you have the Show all 3rd party plugins check box checked and it will
appear as Band's Campout plugin.
