If it is the content of the actual file you want. Where is that
located?. It is on my ReadyNas and how does I access it from my windows
machine ? That Linux thing is still a mystery to me ;)

When I look at my Readynas files from windows(z:drive), I can't see any

 Thanks, Adam

I really don't know. However, it seems to me that Spotify is phasing out
the Starred Tracks feature in favour of the Your Music/Saved Music
functionality. So my guess is that that is the problem rather than
Triodes plugin. Personally I would love to see support for the Your
Music functionality in the plugin. It is essentially the same as
Starred Tracks only the music in Your Music is presented more like a
library/collection/(database) than just a playlist, and is thus much
easier to browse.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2014-05-13 Thread Guut_Boy

I am having a lot of problems with iPeng 7 crashing on my iPhone 5. More
or less randomly the app will simply close it self and I will need to
relaunch it. Sometimes it only crashes to the first screen of iPeng,
so no relaunch is required but it jumps out of whatever menu I am at.
This particularly seems to happen when using Triodes Spotify plugin
(although that might just be because that is what I am mostly using). It
is very annoying when browsing music deep in some menu to be snapped all
the way back to the beginning.

I sent a whole bunch of crash reports from the app, but I just wanted to
know if there is anything I can do myself to make this stop/less
frequent?

Ooohhh. Thanks for contacting me!!!

I knew from crash reports that iPeng 7 was having these issues for some
people, but literally nobody was ever contacting me beyond sending crash
reports and none of my beta testers seem to have the issue (that's not
entirely true, one recent tester has it but for various reasons wasn't
able to test a fix, yet).
This made it very hard to fix since it wasn't reproducible.

It's a messy situation around memory management. Apple introduced a new
memory management model, actually already several years ago (with iOS
5). Since iPeng consists of several 100.000 lines of code I was never
courageous enough to convert to it even though there is an automatic
converter.
For iPeng 7 I finally did the switch and it brought with it this
problem.

I do actually think I have a fix. A recent change made it somewhat more
reproducible and I actually found a petty obscure issue that created the
effect, indeed.

Would you be willing to test the fix? If yes, could you send me a
diagnostics mail from within iPeng? Just tap the mail link under
Help.

When we know whether the fix works I'm going to tell you a bit more
about it since I'm pretty convinced that it's also related to the rest
of your setup and that will probably cause other issues for you, too,
but I want to know whether my fix works first :)

One thing... I didn't understand this part of your description:
Guut_Boy wrote:

Do you mean it leaves the currently selected menu without crashing?
That's also not a crash... but probably related to these other issues
with your setup that I mentioned :) We'll go after that later...
That said, iPeng 7 still drops the menu tree when you are in a menu
that's under More, not under one of the other tabs whenever you leave
and re-enter the App, moving Spotify to one of the shortcut tabs should
help here, also makes definite sense if you are using it so much,
doesn't it?

Will it also work on iPad? I think there is a similar issue there, but I
am not sure (I mainly use iPeng on the phone).

EDIT: For the email to be useful do I need to be connected to my server?

Actually I did not know that I could alter the tabs, I will try it from

The top four items in the menu will be used for the tabs. Using the
Edit button in the main menu you can configure the whole main menu.
This is one of the main new features of iPeng 7 compared to the older
iPeng Classic.
And there were actually only _two_ primary drivers for that feature: one
was to be able to use CustomBrowse menus to replace original menus and
the other one was to be able to move Triode's Spotify plugin to the tab
bar...

I am not sure if I can consistently reproduce the crash though. However

Yes, I know it doesn't happen consistently. I know what triggers it but
it's hard to actively reproduce. This is part of what made it so hard to
fix

Will it also work on iPad? I think there is a similar issue there, but I

Sure. iPeng 7 is a universal App and this problem is not in the iPhone
specific code.

Maybe it is easier to explain with an example scenario: I open iPeng 7,
now I am in More menu. I tap the Spotify menu item. I scroll to the
bottom to do a search. The search gives me 5 possibilities for the
Artist. I tap Artists to find the correct one in the list. The artists
has 10 albums. I tap albums to get the right one. Finally I see the
album I want to play. SNAP! iPeng goes back to the More, and I have to
start all over again. (Ok, there is no SNAP sound, that's just to
underline the annoyingness of the situation :))

Unless I remember wrong, you don't need a Custom Scan license if you are
only using the iTunes import.
A Custom Scan license is only needed if you are using the Custom

If you want to view rated/not rated songs, you should use the TrackStat
Statistics report and not the TrackStat Inconsistency/Problems.

There is a Delete unused statistic button in the backup section of
TrackStat settings page, this can be used to remove unused statistics.
Unused statistics is typically statistics that belongs to renamed, moved
or removed files which no longer exist in your library. Be aware that
the Delete unused statistic button is going to take a lot of time when
it's used with this many unused statistics entries, so don't use it when
you are about to play music.

Also, it might be a good idea to shutdown LMS and take a copy of the
library.db and persist.db file before you use the Delete unused
statistic button, because if it takes too long so you need to abort it,
there is a risk the database will become corrupt if you need to kill LMS
process to get back the control. If this happens and you have a backup
of library.db and persist.db file, you can always kill LMS and restore
the database files from the backup.

Doing a TrackStat backup through the backup section of TrackStat
settings page before any operation like this is also a good idea.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

I don't know whether this is a known issue, I've been seeing it for a
while but it got much worse recently:

A lot of Spotify artwork doesn't get fully loaded for me. What happens
is that the lower part of the artwork gets replaced with a grey bar.
Usually something like 1/2 or 1/3 of the image.

I first thought this is some kind of iPeng quirk until I realized that
when this happens the same broken image gets delivered to other devices,
too, so it's definitely related to the artwork cache on the server.
I believe it has to do with artwork resizing and caching because only
resized artwork is usually affected. So when this happens usually iPeng
and SqueezePad and the Touch or Radio get a broken artwork while the Web
Interface, the Logi App and OrangeSqueeze might still show a correct
 copy.
Looks like it depends on the scaling parameters, doesn't look like it's
the size itself since I'm getting the same quirky artwork on iPeng on
iPhone and iPad which use different artwork sized plus I get the same
artwork for thumbnails and full-scale images.

 I'm using 7.8, release build.

 Have you seen this, too?

Recent versions of the plugin changed to use the built in resizer from
the server - I assume you see using Image78 if you start with --debug
plugin.spotify?

If so this is a problem with Michael's code... (Slim::Web::ImageProxy -
is there anything in common when you enable --debug artwork.imageproxy)

Is the library.db and pesist.db not part of a trackstat backup ???

Could it be that the image is not yet fully loaded when it gets thrown
at the rescaler?
I'm only seeing it in Spotify but then I don't use the local rescaler,
except probably for artists

I really don't know. However, it seems to me that Spotify is phasing out
the Starred Tracks feature in favour of the Your Music/Saved Music
functionality. So my guess is that that is the problem rather than
Triodes plugin. Personally I would love to see support for the Your
Music functionality in the plugin. It is essentially the same as
Starred Tracks only the music in Your Music is presented more like a
library/collection/(database) than just a playlist, and is thus much
 easier to browse.

There is no current support from spotify for this I am afraid - so the
plugin can't do it!

All TrackStat data is part of the TrackStat backup, it's stored in the
persist.db database, but since restoring a TrackStat backup can take
some time, it might be good to take a backup of the actual database
files when trying something like this since it's a lot faster to just
copy back the database files instead of performing the full TrackStat
restore operation.
