Is this also on a Synology. A time-out it quite difficult to debug for
me, since it is not really a script error. I've tested it on my main
server (Linux ARM/SheevaPlug) and a virtual machine (Ubuntu on
VirtualBox). Both work without a problem.
It will be a while before I can test it on a Synology.

If this is the same problem as we have seen on one Synology device in
ickStream I'm starting to think that it's caused by the https peer
verification not working in Perl on some Synology devices. I think it
works with SSODS but not with the standard Synology distribution of LMS.
It also seems to work on some devices but not on others, so it's
probably related to which version of Synology hardware/software that's
used.

In a test script it seems to help to call:

Code:

  IO::Socket::SSL::set_client_defaults('SSL_verify_mode' = 0x0);

But unfortunately this doesn't work when used from inside LMS because
LMS doesn't seem to be able to load IO::Socket::SSL even if it's
installed on the device part of @INC and definitely works in the test
script. The disadvantage of using set_client_defaults is also that it
disables peer verification in whole LMS not just for SoundCloud.

Just thought I'd post this in case it gives you any clues since I also
got confused by the timeout error, in the ickStream case it was
definitely not a timeout causing the problem but we still got a timeout
message in the logs. Unfortunately I don't have a Synology device yet to
do more detailed testing with myself.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announcing: LMS Remote Controller App for Mac OS X

2014-07-13 Thread LazySqueeze

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101145

Question: What platform do you want to use LMS Remote on?

- Mac OS X
- Windows
- Linux

First things first:
You have done an amazingly nice job with this app!
It resembles the (mini) iTunes GUI adapted to the Squeezebox LMS and
that´s a lot to say!

I hope you continue working on it, maybe after the match tonight ;)

Here is my 2 cents contribution:
--
Uncaught node.js Error

Error: read ECONNRESET
at exports._errnoException (util.js:677:11)
at TCP.onread (net.js:530:26)
--

Running on Mac OS X 10.6.8, where the LMS is running too (w/several
hardware and software players all recognized). Your LMS Remote
controller is installed on all Windows and Mac computers at home now :)

Cheers!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Function Play-to (or kind of)

2014-07-13 Thread mikk64

Hi!
that's my question, I search around here for something that could answer
it but I haven't found anything...so, if it's been already answered,
sorry for that!

That's the point: I have a very HUGE collection, on three usb hard-disk
(3tb each one)
One is my updated archive, with the last records, and I go on filling
it, so it's my prefered listening collection.
But sometimes I would like to listen something on my others archives,
without adding them to my collection, because this thing slow down all
the system (scanning, reading ecc.)

Is there a way to make this working, something like using my Duet as a
UPNP client? Or another way/software?
Thanks for answer!
mike

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Function Play-to (or kind of)

2014-07-13 Thread Mnyb

Have you tried the latest 7.8 or 7.9 with it's highets memory settings
on a suficiently good platform ? still to slow ?

If disc IO is a problem run internal drives SATA with the OS on a
separate drive perhaps an SSD for the OS and LMS and regular drives for
the music .

Another path would be to run several instances of LMS perhaps as virtual
machines pointing at different discs . Or even simpler do you have more
computers in the house ? run LMS there to .
From a player or controll device you can select music source .

The thing i have not explored about running several LMS on the same
machine is how to keep preferences separate and creating several network
interfaces ? using virtualisation solves one of the problems i think .

But i'm not the expert on these things but i do know that some forum
members runs several LMS on the same PC .

With souch a humungus collection you deserve a real server for with
built in drives IMO .

I do exactly this for a separate folder of unsorted stuff I don't want
in my main library. My NAS has a DNLA server and I use Skifta on my
Android device, select the server as source and all my SB players show
as a renderer to play to them.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Function Play-to (or kind of)

2014-07-13 Thread mikk64

thanks Mnyb for answer but it seems too much power-draining for my
home-system (I have a vaio windows 7 with LMS 7.9 installed, 1 hard disk
always connected, the one with newest music, while I connect the others
only on-demand)
Now I'm tryng to scan the first of the other two hd, but it takes 4
hours to complete the first scan
My desire, anyway, was different, as I write I'd like to play, for
instance, one folder from my pc file explorer directly to my duet...

thanks too, jimbobvfr400...I searched and installed skifta but it seems
not to find out lms as a media server and neither my duet as upnp
client...I think I have to do something more that I don't know, is it?
could you please tell something more, 'cause it sounds interesting, even
if I wouldn't like to install one more media server to create another
music archiveit was not my intention

thanks anyway!

Correct, with the DLNA plugin enabled both LMS will appear as a server
and your SB players will appear as a target to play to in your DLNA
control app.

Using LMS as the server would be pointless as it would just be the same
music. I have an otherwise unused DLNA server on my NAS that I use to
point to a folder of tunes not in my normal library.

I don't use it much like this but its useful nonetheless when I do.
