Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2015-09-06 Thread Paden

Hey all
Tried installing the SrvrPowerCtrl plugin today on my brothers mac mini
but was unable to get it running.
During the process I was required to run a few commands in Terminal
which prompted for a password.
At the time I'd assumed this was the administrators account password
(which was ignored) but in hindsight should have been the Squeezebox
Server password.
Can anyone confirm either way? :-)

Cheers, Paul.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Using PC vs NAT for Server

2015-09-06 Thread bill77056

Hi to All,

A Qnap box was recently acquired and now Qnap, apparently, is not
currently supporting Squeezebox. Most likely the Qnap will go back. I'm
checking Synology's user forums for an alternate.

The plan for the Qnap was to move the music library on to the LAN and
stream with SBT. No interest in the Qnap's RAID capabilities. Perhaps a
better product for the music project is a dedicated PC.

Any comments appreciated – especially about issues where the NAS would
be superior.

TIA…Bill

2015-09-06 Thread gharris999

It should be the password for the mac account under which you installed
LSM.

I've more or less given up continuing any further OS X support or
development. Versions of OS X after snow leopard make it very difficult
for 3rd parties to fully control power management. With Lion and later,
I never was able to reliably sleep or hibernate the machine, keep it
asleep and then wake via WOL. Apple basically wants you to keep your
mac on all the time, in my (admittedly limited) experience.

Welcome to the forums.
You should have posted in "3rd party hardware" rather than here. This is
the forum to discuss server plugins.

Anyways.

These days, I think a lot of users have opted for a Raspberry Pi or
equivalent (+USB HDD) as their LMS platform. 24/7 availability, low
power consumption, good performance.
Running LMS on a NAS is usually more difficult than on a PC/server
because a NAS typically uses a closed OS, making LMS install or
maintenance more complex.

Hi Philippe,

thanks for the help. Indeed my "supported codecs" was set to "flc, pcm",
since I don't use mp3. So I expected it to work anyway. This morning I
simply tried the string "flc,pcm,mp3" and it worked even with
24bit.but now I'm confused since I start to believe that it does not
recognize the player as supprting flac or pcm (in 24bit) and it is
transcoding to mp3 before sending the stream to the player. The other
configuration options are at moment set to default values. I attach a
new log file with both attempts: with and without mp3.

Thanks in advance,
Giuseppe.

2015-09-06 Thread philippe_44

I just edited my post it crossed with yours. Yes, this log is strange as
mp3 was chosen by LMS. Which should not be the case unless you have some
strange transcoding rules. You player supports flac and PCM so it should
start with that. Can you please try to use the Dev version (select the
sourceforge link with Dev suffix in the 3rd party plugins - it is all
explained at the beginning of this thread. Can you send my you
configuration file ? Again, the 24 bits in PCM, raw format does not work
with your player but the PCM in wav format should work. Flac should
always work

Did you send a log of what happening when it plays only one track ? I'd
like to see the exact error

Still don't work with DS415Play, i hope it works next release.

Is it possible to add airplay at LMS?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2015-09-06 Thread foxesden

I set the Roberts to mp3 in this config. But earlier attempts I had flac
(flc) enabled. As the first codec on the list, but flac files either did
not play or got converted to mp3 anyway.

I also checked the log and the only format that the player confirmed
supporting was mp3.

Previously I had been trying an upnp server and found that flacs do not
play on the Roberts; so I am pretty sure that this is a design
limitation i.e. although the player is advertised as supporting flac it
only does so when you play the files directly; it does not support flac
streaming. This is probably because it is quite an old bit of kit.

Main problem for me is that it is only playing one track in a playlist.
Next would be to get transcoding working with spotify plugin.
I can live with everything else; as I only use the radio in the
kitchen.

Thanks for any help though

Jon
