Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Jivelite VU and Spectrum Analyser displays

2015-12-18 Thread sbp

I don't know if it is a solution or a work-around, but if you let
squeezelite control volume via alsa it is working as I think it should
be working.

So try to use

Code:

 -V Digital

in the various input on the "squeezelite" web-page in piCorePlayer.

Then you change the volume output via alsa, and you can turn it all the
way down to silence and still have VU-Meter working.

The variable "Digital" needs to match the correct alsa control name
(Digital is for a IQaudIO+ DAC). You will need to start alsamixer and
find the correct name to use for your system.

Does this error always happen when you (re)scan media with this specific

For troubleshooting, I would be curious how the tagging looks like for
that specific file.
I have had some curious tagging issue's too, and examining the tagging
content and cleanin up (with e.g. MP3Tag) could help a lot.

Not a clue:o:p

have you tried just the IP address?

Must be a permissions thing.

Can you put Squeezeplay or Jivelite on the Windows machine and control
the players with that?

will have to wait for inspiration from Dorothy and her Posse over

As you can see, the volume slider is all the way to the left and the VUs

Do you see the same behaviour with the updated jivelite_touch.tcz on the

Did anyone confirm that the VUs are affected with both 16bit and 24bit

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)

2015-12-18 Thread pippin

Has anyone succeeded in getting this (or the UPnPBridge plugin) to run
on a Mac?
I have tried on two pretty different setups without success. I can try
running only the upnp helper on a separate Linux machine but wonder
whether I'm just missing something.

The problem is that I get an error (283) when the plugin tries to start
UPnP. The multicast port can't be opened, I assume that's for the
discovery. I first thought there might have been a conflict with some
other server also using it but I tried a clean setup and still no luck.
I wonder wether there is some incompatible SOCKOPTS setting that doesn't
work on BSD, BSD is always a bit tricky here and strictly speaking has
no port sharing. That's why you usually have to use both active and
passive UPnP discovery there.

I have a version of plugin which avoids the 404 which is better both for
LMS and also probably for BBC/akamai. This means chunks of audio will
be sent to castbridge about once every 7 secs.

With this new version Castbridge with max_read-wait at 100 - stops very
quickly. With max_read_wait at 600 - it stops playing audio but
sometime takes over 2 hrs but yet still pulls data from LMS. I don't
think changing max_read_wait is the full solution - need to look a bit
more.

Separately. Any reason why castbridge.xml codecs does not include AAC
since CCA can do AAC natively ?

Yes that is correct, you can change the port to 9000 in settings ->
advanced -> network, but after a server reboot you'll end up with port
9002 again.

You better change your remote settings to port 9002. If you manage to
change the port in LMS it gets overwritten every time you will update
the package.

-> you will find the port config in:

Code:

/var/packages/SqueezeCenter/target/etc/lms_port

I have OSX Yosemite running inside a VM and the 2 bridges are running on
it. I cannot say that I do a lot of tests, but discovery & playback work

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version

2015-12-18 Thread d6jg

I installed this for a friend in France who connects to his UK office
via VPN and can confirm the DASH streams work fine. The HLS streams were
subject to drop out presumably due to the DNS issues. He has reported it
is better quality and much more stable :)
