Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DSTM stops with one track in playlist
But the bug in DSTM is that it don't cover the unlimited case . For sanity it should have some very large upper cap as it can add tracks from services to not only your local files . my 47000 local files are bad enough :P . In general I think using a very large playlist cap in LMS is better than unlimited a lot of conditions in plugins and random play etc get potentially generate insane playlists . So if running a very powerful server just use the total library count as upper limit . Historically LMS has been horrible handling large list performance is not good . A good stress test is to load a huge playlist and then quickly press shuffle several times in a row and watch the server stall for several minutes ? Sorry bpa, I did, but for some reason I got a message when I submitted it saying the post was being held for moderation. I don't think it was in any way contentious, but it still hasn't appeared! Some of it is possibly irrelevant now, but the answer to your question is, "No, I don't have that preference". I think I have ascertained that the values of the Dashspeed_x values in the preference file (which look to be set to "1" when the plugin is installed) are the root cause of my problem though. I have already uninstalled and then reinstalled the plugin today and restarted the server machine to no effect. What else can I try to solve an "installation / version problem"? It's been ages since I looked at the code so I can't answer off hand. That said, if plugin works OK for other users (and they seem to be playing higher speeds) then I doubt a missing preference is a general issue but perhaps something specific to your setup. "Sort" order was a problem before. As I can't test I need to go back over your posts and think through the problem which always takes more time. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version
I've had a look in DASH.pm and the function that prints the log message I referenced above. If I understand what's going on, part of the algorithm for determining the best speed is to use a system preference set against 'plugin.bbciplayer' for the value of "Dashspeed_aod". I don't have such a preference when I look at the settings page for iPlayer and the log output suggests this value is not set (no value is printed at the point at which it's output). Whether this preference exists, I think, determines the sort order of the different feeds based on their bandwidths. I'm a bit lost at this point (and I need to be somewhere else now). My guess is I'm getting the feeds sorted the opposite way to what I want. Yes, sorry, I should probably have written two messages above. I tried playing a programme in the normal iPlayer plugin with DASH enabled. I got several hundred lines of output (apologies for the length - hopefully you won't need to look at it!): 21056 As you might expect, the relevant parts appear to be near the beginning: there is a response file quoted ("DASH Content") that lists several feeds with bit rates between 48k and 320k, which is what I'd expect from what little I know about the system. Then a little after it, there's this line: Code: Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::_parseMPD_part2 (549) Pref used:Dashspeed_aod pref value : Chosen rep id audio_1=48000 Bandwidth = 48000 Is this saying that a preference has been set somewhere for 48k audio? Can you tell me what it's referring to, or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Thanks for your help, bpa. Please let me know if logs from a non-DASH playback would be useful, or something else like server startup. The player I tested on is a Boom, it's a wired network and streaming method is "Direct", although I don't think the Boom can do AAC, so I assume it's transcoded on the server anyway. My Internet connection is more than fast enough to stream 320k when it's provided. +---+ |Filename: LMS_Log_iPlayer_DASH.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=21056| +---+ BobSammers's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66026 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104672 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

anotherbob wrote: > I wonder if it's a solution to my problem too? Unfortunately I don't > know how to carry out the instructions. Can someone explain it in simple > language. It sounds like the same problem. This is exactly what was happening to me and BPA's updated code fixed it. You have a couple of options. I don't have LMS running on Windows, but I'm sure someone else may be able to help with the location of the file you need to replace (or you could just use the Windows search function with the filename of the file BPA has provided - it's just a straight swap, but make sure you keep a copy of the old one). Alternatively, you may be better off waiting, as PasTim has suggested. In the meantime, you could update the settings on the server to avoid the issue. If you go to Settings -> Plugins and then click the settings on each of the iPlayer plugins (if you have both), you can avoid the DASH transport (which is what is causing the problem). For iPlayer, choose stream preferences (for live and on demand) that don't include DASH (I used "HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC"). For iPlayer Extras, just tick the "Don't use DASH box". If you read my comment above, you'll see that my system seems to be working better without DASH even though I am hearing the feeds. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version
Thanks for providing this fix, BPA, it's solved the main problem I had (which had symptoms similar to everyone else). However, I've reverted to switching off the DASH streams again because they currently only seem to give me 48k (at least, as reported on the web interface and in the player's info) for all streams. If I switch DASH off, I get 339k for live streams and 128k for listen again (iPlayer and iPlayer extra). I'm in the UK and I've actually had this problem for a little while now (perhaps a month), certainly before the missing GZIP routine stopped the Listen Again feeds working. I think I used to get the same bitrates using DASH as I currently do with HLS (or whatever it's falling back to). There's nothing being logged. Is this the case for everyone, or just me? I'm using several older SqueezeBoxes (Boom, receiver, SB3) with LMS 7.8.1 - 1472561076 and it's running on Ubuntu 14.04 i386. Came to try iPlayeron my Touch today. Used to work fine but now can only get Play Live using my remote control or the touchscreen. Listen Again just shows "connecting" and doesn't. oddly, when I open web remote control in LMS I can get the Listen Again content. I see that earlier in the thread BPA has provided a solution in #580, and I wonder if it's a solution to my problem too? Unfortunately I don't know how to carry out the instructions. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DSTM stops with one track in playlist
I had a closer look on what's happening in the webinterface and in the log. With a playlist of three or more tracks DSTM kicks in during playback of the second last track (before the last one) the log file list 1 songs remaining, songindex = 12 . After that new tracks are added. When should DSTM kick in in the last or the second last track and what should the log list as songs remaining. playlist of 1,2,3,4 or 5 tracks result in a new playlist and stopped playback A playlist of 6 tracks: DSTM adds 5 new tracks and deletes the first 5 tracks. The result is once tracks 5 plays track 5 is deleted and playback continues at track 6 which is now the first track A playlist of 7 tracks: DSTM adds 5 new tracks and deletse the first 5 tracks. playback continues at track 5 which is now track 1 My conclusion: DTSM allways tries to delete 5 tracks once it kicks in. Then I remembered an option "maximum playlist length" in setting : I had set this to zero (unlimited since I have 16G of RAM who cares...). Changed to 50 and voila. DSTM works. Maybe check if this setting is 0 Jackisidore's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33885 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106095 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm running LMS 7.8 on CentOS 6.8. Honestly I didn't really have time to investigate yesterday, that's why I just reinstalled disaster123's plugin. I'm used to abandonned plugins not working out of the box, but since you are actively developing this one I will give a few other shots as soon as I have more time. I also saw your plugin for Chromecasts and I plan to try it, it could allow me to reassign one of my squeezeboxes (a Rpi with picoreplayer) somewhere else in the house. This startup log doesn't seem to hold a lot of useful information, but I'll throw it here just in case. At least it gives the exact LMS version if it's needed.
