Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Test] Repo for LMS 7.9.0 on Synology DSM 5.*

2017-04-06 Thread Michael Herger

Will I also get a new package, dear sir? For some reason LMSRepack is
acting very strange lately.

[17-04-06 20:04:26.5938] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1248) Warning:
[20:04:26.5930] Use of uninitialized value $moduleId in hash element at
/volume1/SqueezeShare/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SongInfo/Plugin.pm
line 334.

All those warnings are not caused by LMSRepack, but by an outdated
plugin SongInfo, which doesn't cope well with the (probably) new Perl
version installed on the NAS.

Well you need another tread for your playlist problem ..
And no iPeng does not rename playlists and if it would it would not
change anything regard your problem . IPeng is just another ( better )
interface to the server so it's still LMS doing it .

That is my problem - every time I do a scan, a particular playlist
reverts to an old version NOT in my iTunes library. A giant mystery.
Using my web interface with LMS causes duplications which I delete with
iPeng. If I try to delete with LMS, it causes even more duplications! In
order to keep track of what I am doing, I rename the playlist with LMS,
delete the duplication(s) with iPeng, and then use LMS again to rename.
Phew! There is no way I can adequately describe the endless nonsense to
get just one playlist the way I want it.

Everything plays great on my six SqueezeBox units - just this problem.
Who knows, maybe this one playlist is corrupt - but I like it!

So just to keep all this simple, I just wanted to know if iPeng can be
used to rename a playlist.

Thanks for your response!

BTW, even though I have six SqueezeBoxes, I am still an amateur. I just
updated to 7.9.0 and was truly scared but it was real easy to update. I
just cannot do a scan until I figure out what is going on. Too difficult
to type all this out...

Is this an iTunes playlist or a playlist created within LMS ?

ITunes playlist, use iTunes.

Playlists within the LMS playlist folder , well LMS has very rudimentary
playlist editing . But try the LMS web-UI instead can they bee rename
there ? If they can we can ask Pippin for it if not it's a limitation of
the server ..

Testing yes you can rename playlist in the web-UI , but is it a frature
of the playlistmanager plugin or standard .
( get this plugin it allows adding Sonys to existing playlists ).

Manage your playlist outside of LMS completely with some better tool of
choice . And then do a playlist rescan in LMS ?
Thats what most people do due the limited functionality LMS has

How does one rename a Playlist with iPeng 9.2.1? I am using an iPad
Mini4 and my main computer is an iMac, Sierra 10.12.4 and LMS 7.9.0

I am having problems with LMS reading my iTunes Library (don't ask) so I
am looking for another way to rename a playlist with iPeng. It is easy
to delete a playlist in iPeng but I cannot figure out how to just rename
a playlist.

Thank you.

It's probably because you've updated the plugin version because it's
doing that by design since 0.2.8.0. If you want to use the remote of the
player, you need to use "pause". A "stop" received by the bridge is
interpreted as a playback error that causes a move to next track. If you
really want to stop from the remote, you can use "pause" then "stop"

I can also read the segmenbrt - so it is not limited to UK. Problem
from LMS is that the audio format is not known until the MPD is read and
not from the mime type of the URL - so setting telling LMS the audio
format gets a biut messy compared to an audio format associated with the
URL.

The test stream is at

Not sure if it will ourtside the UK and whether ti will work as a http
not https.

If they did it properly - it could be easy. If they hacked it will be
very hard. It looks like a bit of a hack - encapsulating Flac in MP4
and then saying mime is "audio/mp4" which it isn't but relying on the

There is no standard for this as BBC has noted.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.1 packages

2017-04-06 Thread Michael Herger

So I enabled Beta in the Package Center and installed 7.9.0-164 from
there. LMS was immediately much more responsive, the difference was like
day and night. However, a full scan still took over 7 hours. One
difference that I noticed though was that on 7.7.6, during the scanning
something was constantly writing to my drives, which didn't strike me an
unusual until i noticed that 7.9.0 didn't do this at all.

One difference between 7.9 and earlier version is the default value for
memory usage of the database. 7.9 tries to use larger buffers by
default, depending on your hardware. What CPU and memory do you have?

On both versions, it seems to me the scanning starts out fine, 1'000
albums per 5-10 minutes, and then after some 3'000 albums it starts to
stall.

If you have more than 1GB of RAM, then you should try to set the DB
memory usage to maximum (Settings/Advanced/Performance). The numbers you
post are pretty similar to what we found when working on the scanner
performance. And using "Maximum" rather than the "High" makes a real
difference with collections of 50k or more tracks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Synology 7.9.1 packages

2017-04-06 Thread maximus

So I enabled Beta in the Package Center and installed 7.9.0-164 from
there. LMS was immediately much more responsive, the difference was like
day and night. However, a full scan still took over 7 hours. One
difference that I noticed though was that on 7.7.6, during the scanning
something was constantly writing to my drives, which didn't strike me an
unusual until i noticed that 7.9.0 didn't do this at all.

On both versions, it seems to me the scanning starts out fine, 1'000
albums per 5-10 minutes, and then after some 3'000 albums it starts to
stall.

I will continue to investigate, meanwhile some questions:

Is v7.9.0-164.1150 a different subversion than the one from the beta
channel and what difference could it make if I manually clean installed
it?

And I have been studying the scanner logs and comparing it to the ones
from the Mac, what would you look for there?

What's really strange to me though, I have no other data and only a few
of the other standard packages on my system. I completely restored the
NAS to factory once and had the exact same issues before and after. So
this leaves only 2 possible culprits notwithstanding hardware issues,
either there is something terribly wrong with the compatibility of my
NAS and this package, or there is something wrong with my files. Perhaps
the Mac somehow messed with the character encoding of my .cue files.

Hi,

I've been using this plugin for years, however since about a week
navigating in playlists takes hours.. Is it just me ? Is it OK with you
guys ?

I use this plugin and not the Protocol Handler because I need to be able
to login to multiple spotify accounts.
