[SlimDevices: Plugins] Customize JiveLite
Hi, Ive been a long time user of the Squeezebox system, and have multiple of the Squeezebox 3s around the house. Since most of the remotes are dead, so we usually use SqueezeCommander on our phones to control the players. The main drawback is that our 3 year old kid is not able to play the music he wants to listen to. So I was looking around for a solution with a touchscreen. I ended up ordering a Raspberry Pi 7'' Touch Display Bundle with Audiophonics bundle from Max2Play. In general the setup works nicely. However I find the JiveLite interface a little cluttered and would like to customize it a bit. I have seen a few pictures where the interface is in Grid view instead for List view. But I cannot seem find out how to change that, any pointers on how to do that? Secondly, when we press a song it clears the playlist, and starts playing the pressed song how do I change default action to add instead of play? Is there any documentation on how to customize / edit the JiveLite interface? Thank you in advance. ltb76's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5763 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107338 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

He chose to add the functionality you wanted even though it required him to do so in a manner I would consider a waste of resources. While I chose to keep the app as lean as possible. Different developers have different priorities when it comes to the design and features of an app. Yes I know he has rewritten iPeng several times, but a few times was because changes in iOS broke backwards compatibility and forced him to rewrite and I commend him for doing it. Judging the "commitment, capabilities, quality and budget" of a developer based solely on what you see in an app is a simplistic view and it's a little insulting. Do you actually know the challenges a developer faces when developing for these two platforms? I would never comment on an iOS developer's capabilities just because their iOS app is not as good similar apps on Android because I have no idea what it's like to write for iOS. I remember last year about audio events number but never figure out how to get to vpid. However there are a few different things in the MTIS compared to a normal program and which the plugin doesn't expect such as service types "pc_stream_audio_webcast_nonuk_a_p122" and "pc_stream_audio_webcast_nonuk_a_p123" and this may stop playing. If you want to use a simple DASH based player to test DASH urls as some mightn't play in BBCiplayer you can yse the reference player in Firefox and Chrome http://dashif.org/reference/players/javascript/v2.4.1/samples/dash-if-reference-player/index.html Paste the URL you want to test and then click "load" - the default option is to start playing. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72709 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Assigning unconnected players to servers is not possible because Squeeze Ctrl does not connect to players directly. All commands from the app are sent to the server which then controls the players. That is how the Squeezebox system works. The core of the app is designed and coded to control one player at a time. This is why the Player Manager is separated from the rest of the app. It is a special case that allows control of multiple players. Bringing that type of control into the main app would require an almost complete rewrite and quite frankly I think its a waste of resources. The ability to control multiple players incurs a lot of overhead. If you have four players certain processing and network activity will have to be done four times. When the vast majority of the time you would really only care about the current player, all that extra work would be a waste. As to the list that shows the servers and the players assigned to them, the app doesn't actually directly know about the players on the other servers. It depends on the currently connect server knowing about the players on the other servers. This in turn depends on the servers on the network talking to each other and exchanging player lists. Because of this, it's actually not a very reliable list. To reliably do the drag and drop you suggest would mean that the app has to connect to every server simultaneously (this is how iPeng does it, according to pippin the developer). Once again it would require a large rewrite and also a little wasteful for something you probably won't do that often. -- Squeezebox apps for webOS, Android and Windows Phone, http://www.angrygoatapps.com wt0's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18760 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96757 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
